I just picked up this Mid 2015 15-inch rMBP 2.8GHz i7/16GB/1TB in pristine condition from eBay recently for $282. This is an integrated graphics only laptop but it is still BTO/CTO from Apple. It did not come with its original box and AC adapter but when it arrived I was amazed by its condition. Packaging was perfect and even the anti-glare coating on the screen is in perfect condition. Very pleased with my recent acquisition :apple:

This is the start of the downfall of the Intel Mac. That is the museum piece.

It becomes a museum piece when you no longer can use them. For me this Mac will more than satisfy my requirements for use of a computer for many years to come. I don't care too much for Apple's laptops after they ditched the ability for the owner to upgrade their own storage drives. I am currently running MacOS 13.1 Ventura on all my current 2015 MacBook Pros (see signature) and will be setting up this new to me 15 inch MBP with Apple's current OS.

Shame but yes, the writing is on the wall for all Intel based Macs.

Just picked up a base silver 14” from Best Buy. Going to replace my wife’s 2013 Retina MBP. I was holding out for an M2 for myself but with the likely wait until spring I may pull the trigger now since it does everything I need - just need larger HD than base setup.

I just got an open box geek squad certified M1 Macbook Pro 16GB RAM 1TB SSD from Best Buy for $1950. It’s supposed to be like brand new- does anyone have experience with GeekSquad certified Best Buy Macs?

Dbrand skin applied and this laptop is now mine. I also got the machined aluminum port dust covers and SD card adapter from BaseQI to complete accessorizing this laptop. :)

How easy is it to put these skins on? And I know on mobile phones, some skins damage the casing.
I have removed vinyl skins from a 2013 MacBook Air I once had for another vinyl skin I had wanted and had no issues from removing the vinyl skin to put another one on. No damage to the casing so to speak. I just heated the vinyl so it would be easier to remove.

I'll check them out. I'm guessing you need to heat to put on as well? And hair dryer to put on and remove?

I lined mine up today when I installed mine on my 15-inch MBP and then had a hair dryer handy to heat so the corners would easily adhere without any binding. As the picture shows, a nice clean appearance. Very easy to put on. On the bottom cover however, not all screw holes line up perfectly but it does cover the bottom adequately.

My trusty 2015 15 inch MBP took a fall today courtesy of my eight year old (my fault really as I had removed it from it's cover case a year ago) and now the screen has coloured horizontal lines on the left hand side.

A bit sad as it was my first Mac and it was a beautiful machine 🙁

It has now been retired to my son's bedroom as his laptop using an external monitor and magic keyboard and mouse.

Ummed and Erred for a day or so before pulling the trigger on ordering a new MBP 14 inch M1 Pro, Apple were running a black friday promo so i got a £250 Gift card with the MBP which covers the AppleCare+ exactly.

Annoyingly as I ordered the fast charger (96W?) with it I am being quoted a delivery date of 8th-14th December, hopefully that date is an underpromise.

This new laptop has a lot to live up to, the 2015 MBP was pretty much perfect and was still holding it's own performance wise almost eight years later.

Thanks

I’m sure you’re right but I’m not too enamoured with the rather brutalist design of the new MacBook Pros.

Maybe it will grow on me, after all if looks were important is have bought the current MacBook 13 (but I’m not mad)

After almost a year spent waiting for releases and weighing options to the point of analysis paralysis, I FINALLY ordered the base-level M1 MBP 16" to replace my mid-2015 MBP 15" that I use in clamshell mode for my remote job.

It arrived yesterday, and only then did I realize hat I need to figure out new cords/adapters because the ports have all changed. I tried to research and order last night and ended up with a migraine. I know this is second nature for everyone here, but it's like Greek to me.

Need to get a DP to Thunderbolt 4 cord for my LG monitor (to replace the Thunderbolt 2 connector). My old powered hub is connected to my old MBP via USB-3 to USB-3 cord. So I guess I need a new Thunderbolt 4 hub. But I need one with 3 USB-A ports to connect two older HP LaserJet printers and a Scansnap machine. Having trouble finding one.

Whatever the case, I am stunned at how beautiful the screen is. Ordered a stand so it can sit open instead of in clamshell.

congratulations. I am using this dock at home and using my M1 Pro in clamshell mode.

my wife is using this one with her M1 Pro and she uses the Mac as a second screen by keeping it open

hope that helps.

You sound as though you went down the same path as me.

After a good year of pondering and thinking and contemplating and calculating on what Mac should replace my trusted but now antiquated 2009 mac pro, I finally jumped on a great deal for a 2021 16* 1tb pro.

Like you, I'm not at all keen on the design - both aesthetically and more importantly ergonomically - but love the power it offers.

I too was baffles by the ports situation. But I'm coming to live with it now. I'm also going to order a stand to make it easier to type. I only wish I could move that bloody caps lock key over to the left a bit more. I constantly hit it when typing A. And Apple, why could you not include a back space key!!!

I picked up a refurb 14’ base CPU w/ 1 TB HD. I had been debating between the M2 air, an M1 MBP or waiting for an M2 Pro but decided it was time.

Very happy with my decision, the screen is amazing - definitely worth it over the air IMHO.

Enjoy!!!

Mine is showing as arriving Friday but Apple sent me the invoice this morning.

UPS show the package as waiting in Hong Kong for the next flight

This week long wait is going to drag…. Not even England’s inevitable March to World Cup glory is managing to make time go faster

I've been clinging onto my 2015 mainly for the USB-A ports. But with another swollen battery (which I already paid full to have replaced OOW), 20GB left on my 500GB SSD, I figured it was time as I didn't want to sink even more money into it.

I'm currently on a 2019 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar 13" and It is glitchy at times, I get the beach ball affect when doing certain tasks. I wonder when Apple will update the Macbook Pro's? I'm tempted to pull the trigger on a 16"

Funny you should say that as today I received notification that my MacBook has cleared customs and is at Esst Midlands airport 30 odd miles away.

I’m guessing there is an outside chance of me getting tomorrow
