this is my family's family of machines, both macs being mine and dells being my parents. The silver MBP is the most striking/attractive to me, but there is something about the all black dell design that says "hello, I'm a computer and my purpose is to be a computer and not look fancy, just do computer things" which I kinda like. that's how the space grey makes me feel too, although I wish it was just full on all black

I slightly prefer the keyboard on their machines (both of these dells are latitudes) and honestly also slightly prefer the keyboard of the older 13" mBP. and the touchpads really have gotten better on windows devices in general over the years!

but I'm typing this message on that MBP on the far left and man this screen is just so much nicer than any of those others by such a long shot. if I had to purchase a new MBP tomorrow for some reason, I think I'd still go space grey, but would be totally 100% fine with silver as well
Totally agree with you on all fronts šŸ˜†

Interesting how much this thread has slowed down. Is this a sign of contentment with existing M1 Pro/Max, saturated market, economy/recession/low demand, not a worthy upgrade, 5 NM to 3 NM will be a bigger jump, all the Intel low hanging fruit has been picked?

Been using a 16" M2 Pro 12/19, 32GB, 4TB for a month now and I've had no issues. Upgraded from a 2015 i7. I haven't used any M1 machines but as users have been reporting, the big jump up is from Intel to Apple Silicon, not as much M1 to M2. Based on that estimation and my user experience, I would expect that many M1 users probably won't feel the urge to upgrade with M3 either. I used my old MBP for about 1-2 years longer than I should've tried to, but I'm hoping this new one will last as long or longer (typical wish I know).

We'll have to see how software and OS gets optimized further for AS machines to see if the upgrade thresholds change, but it seems so far that with the M-series stuff it's less detrimental than before (Intel-era) to use older spec. I do appreciate the activity on these forums as a lot of the real-world findings have helped me make the best choices, but with fan noise/temps/etc, the panic expressed online hasn't correlated with anything meaningful encountered in my user experience. Everything works well, as intended.

I bought a new 14 M1 Pro base model today for a little under 1900ā‚¬.
A hefty sum for an older version but the new M2 starts at 2449ā‚¬ in my country which is a little too much for me.

I am switching from a recent M1 Air (16/256) that I had to pick up in a hurry last year as my old Intel failed. I was doubting which one to get back then, but I chose to "cheap" out and get the Air, but I always kept wondering about the Pro.

I hope I made a good choice, it was a bit of an impulsive buy but this was the last one they had in stock so I decided to go for it. I had been looking on the internet for a bit but didn't see them lower than 2009ā‚¬ in my country so far, that's why I decided to jump.

That 14 M1 Pro is gonna last you good 5 to 6 years. Heck, you probably could push it into the next decade. A lot of people are starting to admit it, but Apple has kinda backed themselves into a corner with Apple Silicon, because the first generation is so good that there is little reason to upgrade to new revs in the coming years. Based on my usage, I don't see myself upgrading from my M1 MBP 13 inch until about 2025 or 2026.

Glad to see many new M2 Max owners. Is the heat or throttling as bad as YouTubers say?

I currently have an M1 MBA with 16/512 and looking for more power, either an M1 Max or M2 Max and 32GB/1TB. I am just not sure whether to get a Mac Studio or a 14" or 16" MacBook Pro.

I work from home now so don't really have as great of a need for portability. If I get a Mac Studio then I can still keep my MBA for travel. If I get a MacBook Pro then it feels kind of a waste to use it predominantly in clamshell mode. Then again I've always preferred laptops and passed down my 2015 13" MBP to my kid.

So for sure I want a Max chip, just unsure about form factor. Despite all these deals on M1 MacBook Pros, I don't see too many sales on M1 Max models.

I bought a M1 MBP in 2020 and in hindsight, it turns out that I probably should have gotten M1 Mac Mini at the time. Because that MacBook Pro has been stationary ever since.

I just picked up an M1 Max from the refurb store - 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD - its a very decent saving over the M2 version, so unless you need that power or the upgrades like HDMI v1.3, its well worth checking out.

We also have a Mac Studio here and it's one of my favourite Macs - love the form factor, the amount of ports, the power etc. You can't go wrong with either of these.

Thank you. I thought a lot about what you wrote and picked up a base Mac Studio yesterday during the Costco sale. M1 Max for $1499.

Love having USBc and SDcard ports on the front of the Mac Studio and keeping my M1 MBA for travel.

I received my base 16inch M2 MacBook Pro a week ago, and I have to say this is the best Mac I have ever had. The battery life has been amazing, and Apple seems to have fixed a lot of things that were bad on their older MBPs 5 years ago. The keyboard is a joy to type on, the built in webcam is awesome for zoom meetings, and it seamlessly works with all the windows apps I need to use. Although it's got a big footprint, it's worth having the extra 2 inches of screen real estate.

I travelled with it a few days ago, and it was so nice to have it with me in the hotel room. I also have an 11 inch M2 iPad Pro, and it's been great to use with this Macbook. Im glad to see silicon is working out well for Apple, and I am looking forward to enjoying my apple devices for years to come.

Picked up one of the 16" 4TB+64GB M1 Max MBPs on sale at a steep discount at B&H today. Will probably avoid breaking its seal until WWDC has passed so I can return it in case something that suits me better is announced then, but it'll be a nice upgrade from my current refurbished base model iMac Pro. I've already seen what the M1 Pro version of the 16" is capable of at work and it'll be nice to have that for personal use.

I'm waiting until WWDC to decide which Mac to get because Apple are rumoured to be announcing the 15" Macbook Air. At the moment i use a 2019 13" Macbook Pro with Touchbar. The battery life isnt very good at all, it heats up very quickly and even stutters at times, after hearing that Apple 's M1 and M2 chips have great battery life and better performance, i'm very tempted to buy my very first Apple M chip Mac :)

Do it, you won't regret it. I went from a 2019 MBA to a 2020 MBA M1 and the battery is soooo much better. Don't carry my charger with me now when I am out all day etc.

When I first saw the claims from Apple on battery life, I thought they were exaggerating. Then I watched a lot of M1 and M2 reviews and everyone was saying how good battery life is, even on the MacBook Pros while pushing them with heavy workflows.

I just ordered the 16" M2 Max MacBook Pro. I maxed out the RAM (96gb) and bumped the SSD to 2TB.

By way of explanation, I'm coming from a mid-2014 15" MBP that was also maxed out, so I'm planning to keep my new one for 9 years as well.

That's why I maxed out the RAM, as a way of future-proofing....
I've had this for a few months now. It's heavy as hell, but I do love it. Clearly I did not need 96GB of RAM, that was stupid.

I'll repeat what others have already said, Apple Silicon was a major breakthrough in performance and efficiency.

I had a 2015 MBP 13 and then upgraded to an early 2020 MBP 13, the last of the Intel MBP 13s, and it was barely any improvement over my 5-year-old laptop. Months later when the M1 MBA came out I took the hit and swapped my new MBP for the M1 and haven't looked back. The M1 provides phenomenal performance and battery life. I loved the M1 so much I went on to get an M1 Mini, M1 iPad Pro, and M1 Max Mac Studio. All have been great performers (although I didn't really need the iPad Pro, oh well).

Upgraded from a 2015 MBP 13" to a 2021 Base model MBP 14" second-hand. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

No matter what I did to fix thermals on the 2015 (new thermal paste, cleaning fan) it would just get so toasty within like, 5 mins reaching upwards of 100C. Plus, I took the aftermarket SSD out to put in a Thundebolt 4 inclosure and now I think my batteries cells are starting to swell. I figured WTH, time to upgrade.

Just ordered a 14ā€ 16gb/1TB M1 MacBook Pro.

We are bouncing off the walls with excitement.

Coming from a late 2012 Mac mini this thing will blow our socks off.šŸ§¦šŸ““

We cannot wait to start editing pictures in photoshop, and not having to stare at a beachball all day will be amazing.

Trying to decide between a 2020 13" MBP M1 base model 8Gb/256Gb ($765.00) and a 2023 Mac Mini M2 8Gb/512Gb ($679.00)?
Most of what we do at home is very causal use after long work days but I'm still concerned w/ only having 8Gb RAM in either machine and feel like these are good compared to what I have but won't last me as long as my current machines have...

The Bx usually only stocks base model machines and I'm typing this on a 2011 13" MBP I upgraded w/ 16Gb RAM & 512Gb SSD many years ago (but those days are over w/ Apple unfortunately).
My other machine is a 2013 11" MBA & has been great for portability (and still has comparatively good battery life for an intel machine) but it started life as a 4Gb/128Gb machine (until I found a good deal on a 256Gb OEM take out from OWC).
The last few years has felt limited w/ 4Gb RAM and Apple stopped making something similar size with the 12" MB being so disappointing with its performance & keyboard in general.

I know either machine will be a huge upgrade to what I currently have but was really hopeful to wait on the M3/M4 (3NM) SOC's before I upgrade...thoughts?
