I should remind everyone that if there is stuff you don't like about the phone, it is FAR better to state them and talk about it than to hide it behind glowing praise that "the phone is AWESOME!"

The phone's flaws should NOT be hidden or downplayed. The only way Apple can improve their products is if we are vocal about the problems with it. Being blind fanboys is a fast path towards mediocrity.

I'm not even buying a new phone this year, so think of this as coming from a neutral perspective regarding the X. :)

And where do you find the balance between sweeping problems under the rug and blowing problems out of proportion?

Why would you spend £999+ on a phone without seeing it in person and testing it before parting with the money?

Preach.

Has to be positive AND negative. I personally benefit more from the people who voice the complaints. Everyone learns more from failures than successes.

I expect the "I LOVE MY iPhone X" threads after only a few hours and I am happy for them even though that intoxication honeymoon phase is still there. I open up different phones every year and know the feeling.

It's threads like this that keeps me alert and wished we got to see more of them in-person before doing a blind buy. Thanks for the heads up, OP.

Going to have to experience it myself and see if the angles and sharp edges bothers me. None of these smartphones and OSes are perfect. Even my favorite phone isn't flawless. What matters is if you can live with the flaws or not.

That was harsh :). it is the one-size-fits-all android that is the issue!

It is a nice size, quite true. But the issue I have is more with Android. As much as I have tried (several times buying Android phones) I just don't seem to like it is as much as iOS. As for the device itself (Galaxy S8) complains I have is the mess it touch sensitive buttons bringing up multitasking tray and doing stuff that I have no intention. phone strangely calling contacts when it is in my pocked after I have clearly put the display on sleep messing also with the tracks of Spotify when playing, stooping the one I was playing and randomly moving to a different one.... so quite few weird stuff that I have never experienced on iOS.
I have not been using iPhone since April 2017, just the iPad and Apple watch. Already missing iPhone.

Not really sure where you got the info of what version of OLED Apple got from Samsung and I certainly hope it is nothing like the Galaxy S6. From what I have read. Apple have presented it's own requirement of colour calibration and stuff, and I hope the colors are not over saturated like the ones on Galaxy phones. I do own Galaxy S8, lovely screen but that's all it is about it. Is going on eBay before it value falls even more.

An example of the mis-education and voodoo rampant in the tech world.

The S6 display is fantastic. It is industry leading in its accuracy.

If you'd bother to read the instuctions, you would have discovered that samsung over 4 modes covering all leading display stds.

Including srgb adobe etc.

Samsung set the display to adoptive mode which adopts (imagine that) to its surroundings, including zipping up the brightness to a billion nits in bright sunlight. (The Toms guide piece on the x display is another example of ignorance).

Unlike apple, samsung give you choice. Try exersicing it.

How do you use the Apple Watch without an iPhone?

I know it will do some basic stuff when used alone but most of the functionality comes from it being paired with your phone.

I got used to the iPhone 6 after a while (gave it a 2nd chance), I initially had trouble with it and its upper corner, yes. But it wasn't as bad as the iPhone X (whose dimensions are only a tiny bit bigger than my current 7) because of the location at the bottom of that emoticon button.

I'm sure in a few months we'll see a post from you stating you got used to the iPhone X, wash, rinse, repeat, post dramatic thread again.....

It turns blueish when tilting about 5+ degrees. I could probably live with it and would forget about it, but right now it still feels kind of cheap for a €1150 device...

May be a defective unit. I have it right in front of me and I do not see any changes in color when tilting way over 5 degrees (at angles I will never use in practice).

Apart from lack of notifications (which I don't seem to be bothered much) it does the rest I need. Daily goals, Calories, exercise, heart rate, timer, time etc. Obviously they don't sync with any phone but I am not bothered. It is a first gen Apple Watch anyway.... so due to upgrade very soon.

PS: Forgot to mention. I can also use the Apple Pay on the Apple Watch, without having the iPhone.

The limited viewing angle is a feature. This way you can tell if face ID will work by the blue shift.

Just tilt it 5 degrees, and keep it precisely xx distance from your face- problem solved!

(just kidding. I have to pick mine up from the depot in a bit. Sure there are always downsides. Who cares.)

Exactly. Its like just before a new iPhone is revealed. No pictures, no spec, no prices, but a load of people saying that they are going to get the new iPhone. Seems rather strange to me.
