The Imacs Are Coming!!!!

Hold your horses

I just got news from a homeless guy on the street, who had been talking to his social worker, who heard from this guy flipping burgers at McD, that the new iMac will spawn this coming tuesday. Boy, am I excited!
 
finally some reliable news kaptajn! :D Why didn't you start a new thread for that ?

But was he wearing an Apple top? Or perhaps eating an Apple? If not then I'm afraid I must treat your rumour with the flippancy and contempt it deserves.

I have had the same thought. They are building the Quad Core iMac to coincide with the release of Snow Leopard to show its full potential to the consumer market upon release. There is no consumer Mac at the time with more than 2 cores to take full benefit of SL.
 
Next week, for sure!

10 days ago, and after deciding I could not wait any longer, I ordered a 24" 3,06 GHz 4 Gb iMac. Surprisingly, my iMac will arrive no sooner than next tuesday. Too long delay, isn't it...

So I am quite confident that what I will be receiving next tuesday is not the actual iMac, but the NEW one!!!!!

I would be highly, highly surprised if it was. But, if incorrect, I will eat a large slice of humble pie. Seems unlikely that you'd pay for (what will be) an Old product and get (what will be) a top-of-the-line one...

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it won't happen. Even if the new ones come out tuesday, you'll still keep your old one.

It has happenede before, that people have received newer machines if they order an old model just when new ones were released.

Although you could return it un-opened and re-order the new one (I believe you may have 14 days after receieving an old model if they announce a new one - probably different depending on your territory and wether it was BTO). However, who knows when they'll announce the new iMac.
 
I have information that jives with the previous post...In mid-February I chatted with an authorized MAC reseller (ABT Electronics) and they told me they expected the new IMACs to arrive in early-mid March. They did not have an exact date nor details on the new configuration. For whatever thats worth.

How many times do I have to say this before people get it through their heads?

APPLE. DOESN'T. EVEN. TELL. APPLE. STORE. EMPLOYEES. when updates are.
 
If that's the way you feel why do you even bother reading MAC rumors? If you need the information to come from the horses mouth obviously that will be the day it officially gets announced by Apple and we'll all know then anyway.

Hence the term "RUMORS" :)

And by the way, resellers ARE somewhat knowledgeable about their own supply chain.

But I heard this guy was in an elevator, sending the info via email, from his Powerbook G5, using his iPhone nano as a modem...

I know they don't tell it for even their own employees, but we've got this exactly same story from dozens of people now, it must prove something.
