I know that there seems to be more behind this rumour than usual, but it is a little frustrating to hear 'New iMacs nearly here' (or some derivative of this rumour) almost every day. I'm all for rumour-mongering, but I empathise with those who feel that the rumour 'Some guy/reseller/employee told me so' is getting a little tiresome.

I'd really hope that this is true, just to see you're totally wrong. In every thread you're the pessimist of the day.

Maybe that's because TS has been here long enough to know a thing or two more than you do... If an iMac does come out, it will be purely coincidental, as TS is right, Apple does not tell it's retail staff when new products are coming...

Nice try putting "beeing here" and beeing the pessimist of the day in conjunction but doesn't impress me much!

Anyway, we'll see …

Ok I am going to have to comment its killing me. :D

Whenever I see this thread in ForumSpy I can't help but laugh because it reminds me of Eddie Murphy.

The Imacs Are Coming!!!! Mom, The Imacs Are Coming!!!!

well "purely coincidence" would be a mild exaggeration. There are certain symptoms in the market that trigger these rumors, such as shortage of stock, price cut, date since last update, etc...So this all connects together more than you think. So people know that chances are high for an update around this time, and if an update comes next week, it´s not a "pure coincidence".

You tooked the words right out of my mouth!

Yes but what I mean, is that there is no way anyone in retail knows about what date the updates are coming, therefore, if updates do occur, it's just coincidence, retail companies do not have inside knowledge into apple, or else we would have actual proof of what date they would be coming out, instead of "Some guy at a store said this", that's not proof, there's no source, just some guy saying something, no paperwork, nothing to back it up.

I know it's macrumors, but if we believed everything every newbie posted as fact, we'd be sorely dissapointed at the end of every Tuesday, and suckers... :p

There's a reason there's a difference between the front page and the forums, the front page section cites genuine sources, the forum, does not.

Ok, yeah sure, no one has exact dates (except a few inside apple), but I´d call what the rumors educated guesses, not coincidences ;)

It impresses me because basically I'm tired of being disappointed every Tuesday. That's why I've also gone the pessimistic path (although not as far as Tallest Skil).

Yeah, that more people read MacRumors than you think. :D

I put a "grin" emoticon, but I'm being serious.

I have to agree to disagree. More people do read MR but they also don't read MR either and then they post another new thread of the same thing only they worded it different so it's not the same question in their logic.
The whole thing makes my head hurt, which must mean an update or upgrade is going to happen for sure ;)

hrm curious...

will these new nvidia board, quard-core imacs be able to support more than 4g ram? maybe 6g 8g is possible?

also lets add released and installed snow leopard into this hypothetical assumption.

and if they just remain bumped up duo-cores will the new chipset/OS still allow for more ram?

i just dont know /shrug

thanks for the infos ><

NMC :)

I know they don't tell it for even their own employees, but we've got this exactly same story from dozens of people now, it must prove something.

only that one person stated a rumor of a he said / she said ..... someone else read it and started the same rumor through different channels

A mention of new iMacs, and BAM! A swarm of newbies not even a newbierminator can contain.

Surely this shows that all the talks of the desktop going away and laptops taking over are bunk.

"newbierminator" < whaT does that mean ?

They're here because they is paid to be, :apple: drones -tis a good sign IMHO

Only if you newbies wouldn't make so many damn duplicate threads!

Okay, this might be getting a bit weird: Maybe if we wound say on topic - well, there would be less reasons to start new threads? Never started any new threads myself, but it is hard to keep track of relevant posts.

SORRY FOR THIS OFF TOPIC POST

Yes but what I mean, is that there is no way anyone in retail knows about what date the updates are coming,

Wrong, they do, they get advanced warning so they can update stock codes etc, It's not just Apple that sells them you know. It also allows them to clear there stock out. I doubt Jo blogs on the shop floor or store managers have a lot of warning but I bet the people high up spending big money on stock do.
Anyway, take the Macbook/ Pro updates, we all saw updated stock codes and inventory from famous suppliers BEFORE they were launched officially.

Anyway, on topic. John Lewis a major retailer in the UK has no stock online for any iMac model, neither do they say they will email you once they are in stock. However the Mac Pro isn't in stock either but they will email you when they have some. Make of that what you will.
