Since most people here in the US have unlimited messaging but not unlimited data, I'd like to see a 3d touch option to allow sending picture messages via MMS if desired rather than having to turn off iMessage all together. Sure there is some trade offs in image quality but would be nice option to have to save data usage if one desires.

This is what I'd love to see in iOS 10:
  • Dark theme
  • Customizable Control Center
  • Rich link previews in Messages
  • Night stand mode like Watch
  • Red dot in status bar for unseen notifications
  • More dynamic and live wallpapers, more options
  • Overhaul of the iOS grid icon system
  • Option to set default apps, hide stock apps
  • Option to see clients connected to the personal hotspot
  • List of known Wi-Fi networks with options to prioritize and delete
  • Group FaceTime calls
  • NFC API
  • Music app redesign or at least overhaul to more user friendly UI
  • PIP on iPhones
  • Stereo audio in video recording
  • True multi-user support on iPad
  • Ability to lock any app with a TouchID
  • Watch-like complications on a lock screen

My main gripe and if I had to choose just 1 thing, is for iOS10 to be freed from input-blocking (which makes you tap things 2-3 times due to non-response) for a more fluid workflow. iOS9 added more input-blocking from 8.4.1, and I'm concerned iOS10 will add even more instead of less.
[doublepost=1454981341][/doublepost]
* no more ios9 UI stutter
* customisable CC
* MUCH better support for 3rd party keyboards
* functioning airdrop
* let you choose wifi spot priority like OSX
* back to ios8 style app switcher

And most importantly, let you better manage photos. if move a photo to album, I don't want to see the photo still in camera roll. if I delete a photo in album, I don't want to see it still in camera roll.

Great list, agreed on everything. I'd also prefer the ios8 style app switcher, I can't get used to the iOS9 switcher after using it since it came out. The iOS9 switcher de-emphazied the app icon and name, it's a much smaller app icon, and it just shows 1 icon/name at a time, so the emphasis is on the app look itself which is often confusing to distinguish among others.

Focus on quality.

in the last 24 hrs alone:

-I've had messages flake out and stop arriving on my phone, only on my laptop. When I type from my phone it starts a new conversation thread on the other persons phone. This problem happens every month or so.

-Photos taken on my phone stopped showing up in photo stream on my laptop. Toggling photo stream in icloud settings on both devices did nothing. had to shut down everything I was working on and reset computer to get it working again. This also happens extremely frequently.

-just trying to type this post on my iPhone 6 is difficult because cursor regularly refuses to show up when long pressing on text. Sometimes the "magnifying" circle is blank, effectively hindering you from properly placing the cursor. Sometimes dragging to select a block of text will lose the selection as soon as you lift your finger. These quirks happen ALL the time.

As I said, that's just today. Basically Apple software feels like an endless barrage of things that don't work.

You're fortunate if you don't run into issues, and I don't doubt that there are those who aren't affected. But given the increased murmurs of discontent I've heard from even pro-Apple bloggers, I think it would be beneficial for Apple to take notice that there ARE problems and they are becoming less and less isolated.

My wish is to revamp the homescreen. Give users a new experience the iPhone looks the same since the first iPhone. This is not limited only to the iPhone they are all the same, just rows and rows of apps although some have a random "widget" in them. (Not saying widgets are the answer).

My idea to do this is to have deep integration with apps and create what I call "smart folders". The smart folders give you customizable information at a glance.

Example: you have a fitness status bar (created below) that is tracking your steps and heart rate, calorie intake, calorie burn, etc...(in real time). Once you tap on this smart folder you can then see where that information came from. If you use the Fitbit app to track steps and heart rate then it will show that and from there you can go in to the Fitbit app if you need to. Under that same smart folder, if you track calories with the myplate app then you can view the shared information and again go into that app if you need to. This cuts down the need to go into individual apps and gives you more information at a glance. With 3D Touch you could also create quick tasks such as "add meal" to increase you calorie intake after a meal.

Not sure I explained that clearly enough, but basically all the information that you would need would be available at a glance on your screen and if you needed in depth information after clicking on the smart folder that app is made available.

-----------------------------------------------

79 bpm

Steps Calories burned Calorie intake
1200 2300 2500

-------------------------------------------------

Any of the above categories are tracked real time on the homescreen and they are further tap able to get deeper information from the app that is providing hat information.

What do you all think?

I don't think many rumours or much at all gets leaked when it comes to new versions of OS X and iOS.

Pretty much nothing will be known until 4 months from now when they announce them at WWDC.
That's not true. The promise of performance increase and the new system font were both rumored quite some time before the introduction of iOS 9. I believe the same was true for iOS 7 and 8. However, it's still only February. I'd expect the first rumors in a month or two.

I stand corrected. You're right, I forgot all about the new font was known for some time before WWDC.

1) New UI
2) Change Music app UI cuz it sucks currently.
3) fix siri
4) gif support in photos
5) the headphones and the music controls don't work if I have opened certain apps like Youtube or camera, it like the volume focus is still on that app, I have to force close it to play music from the default music app, its very annoying.

I agree completely. There is only ONE feature I am wanting from iOS 10, and that is for it to work properly. Apple used to be known for reliable products, but they are becoming more like Microsoft all the time.

A couple things I'd like to see, some I'm sure already have been mentioned:

1) Revamp of the home screen(s). What I really like about modern version of Android is the presentation of the OS. Maybe it's because I've been using iOS forever and it hasn't changed, but the iOS way of presenting apps and the home screen is getting very boring.

2) Require TouchID/passcode to turn off the phone. This would be a configurable on/off setting, of course.

3) "Always on" feature like what Motorola does. This would be to provide a quick glance at time, calendar events, and select lock screen notifications. The notifications would be able to be selected separate from standard lock screen notifications. This would be a configurable on/off setting, of course. Some of you may reply with "That's what the Apple Watch is for." Well, not everyone has/wants an Apple Watch. I have one, but I don't wear it 100% of the time.

4) To pair with "always on," make putting your thumb on the TouchID sensor actually wake up the device. What I like about the Nexus 6P and 5X is that when you place your thumb on the finger print sensor, it also serves as waking the device up. Now on iOS, you have to turn the screen on and then register your finger print. One action would be nice. This would be a configurable on/off setting, of course.

5) Make iPad "Smart" covers actually be smart by adding an e-ink screen in them that would give glanceable information. What I dislike is that I have the cover over my iPad, a notification comes in and I don't know what it is without having to open the cover. Hell, make one for the iPhone as well... I'd buy it.

I'm sure there are many more but off the top of my head combined with my experiences with the latest version of Android, this is what I could come up with.

My photo stream disappeared on my phone. Pictures I deleted on my phone and computer still show up in iCloud photo stream on Apple TV wtf?!

Password lock "Hidden" folder in Pictures. And in conjunction with that... don't show hidden pictures in "All Photos."

what I would like in ios 10...

dark mode

widgets
if we can't get full widgets then at least "live" icons (no reason why weather can't show current temp/weather at this stage of the game)
better app management software
be able to delete an app/game without deleting app data...allowing me to reinstall app/game and continue from where I left off.
be able to quickly find and delete all apps I haven't used in over a year (I'm an app hoarder. I need help.)

allow apps to set and save separate brightness and sound levels. (I like gaming and watching videos on full brightness. Hate having to change the settings all the time)

customize control center

My wishes:

0 All the best to all the participants, no matter what your opinions are.

1 A native WiFi data transfer to iDevices from PCs, using just a browser.

2 A part of the filesystem accessible to users and applications to store/exchange data which can not be handled by the installed apps directly, a native file manager with local and remote capabilities (at least for iCloud).

It's not because "I want it like Android" and not to compromise iOS security model. But the popularity of the apps - tens of them - like Filebrowser, Documents 5, Oplayer, Simple Transfer Pro, File Manager Pro which provide some or all of these features speaks for itself. Our iDevices are quite powerful computers and I don't want to trust any third parties in order to get some very basic and necessary computer functionality. I can trust Apple though, as I'm using their products anyway and appreciate their recent efforts to protect our privacy. If Apple wants it's tablets and phones to take event bigger share of the market that now belongs to laptops, it will eventually do it - the questions are when and whether it'll be already too late.

3 For the same reasons (not to trust my passwords to the same people who sometimes use infected copies of XCode): native ssh and sftp clients and native OpenPGP support at least for mail.

4 More consistent data-exchange capabilities for Apple's own apps.

5 More consistent system and apps settings (not to have the same things found in several places).

6 More granular privacy controls.

7 More formats supported by native media players and iBooks.

Yes, these all also mean: make the use of iTunes completely optional, and iPhones and iPads - neat, secure, self-sufficient, easy to use computers. We can already do it all by means of what is found in the Apple's very own AppStore, but again - I'd better entrust my data to Apple than to some third party who is here today and elsewhere tomorrow, and doesn't even give any clear privacy statements.

And give the AirPort Utility even more WiFi scanner and analyzer capabilities, please, I need it for work.

My current wish list for iOS 10:
  • Clean up spotlight
  • Open NFC to API (include Privacy setting)
  • Separate apps from overall software updates (individual stock apps can be updated without pushing out a full OS update)
  • Customisable control centre
  • Dark mode
  • More 3D touch settings/options
  • Faster animations and improved visuals
  • More camera controls
  • Group/Conference calling FaceTime
  • More EQ options
  • Improved Audio options (AudioKit, better inter-app audio)
  • Refined iPad experience and UI
  • Improved Split view (ability to move which side an app is on, and grid view with search ability for selecting apps)
  • Bring some more OS X features to iOS
  • Drag and Drop between apps in Split View
  • Two instances of one app in split view
  • Low power mode for iPad

Some great suggestions that I agree with.

The number one thing I want in the next iteration of iOS is a revamped or completely redesigned way of handling text. Trying to select text on an iPhone or even an iPad is the most infuriating, frustrating experience on the devices. It makes me so angry.

The two-finger select on iPad, and the 3D Touch select are a start, but they barely work and don't address the underlying issues with highlighting, cutting, copying and pasting text. If they address this issue, the iPad with iOS will finally feel like a true computer replacement for me.

I hope you all realize that IOS 10 design has probably been complete for a while and there are probably alpha versions being internally tested already. Sure there will be some tweaks left but if Apple wants to implements some of these it wasn't going to already - it will probably have to be in IOS 11. Not that some of the ideas aren't great but I can just see the threads after 10 is released about Apple not doing anything that people outlined and wanted.

In spite of what some think on other threads Apple doesn't just write and publish software in a couple of weeks and never actually tests it.
