Completely new interface! We've been using the same interface basically since IOS 1, it's time for them to step up and change things. The hardware is there for them to do some big changes in software but it seems like they are content with keeping things the same.. only making minor adjustments. That's not innovation!

Do you think we will ever have the ability to have profiles?
I remember requesting this since the early iPad iOS releases and just gave up.
I'm guessing it is too tall an order for the current iOS architecture.
But with the iPad Pro, it would be nice for my wife unlock it, swipe to her picture or icon and have only her apps and settings come up.
Heck, the 2 year old Nook HD did this.

Multi users (at least for an iPad, doubtful for an iPhone) could be a possibility at some point. 9.3 has a new education app for schools that supports multi users. Which could be the first step. Just like how password lock on Notes in 9.3 could be the first step to password lock in other apps.

On a phone, I'd question the need of multi-user support since it is a personal device. Android does this and I can't think of a reason as to why I'd want someone else to have access to my device. On an iPad? Absolutely, seeing as they can tend to be used as a family or shared device in a house hold, school, or workplace.

I just want split screen multitasking like Android N on my 6s Plus. Multi-user support for iPad would be nice too. Don't really see a need to have it on the iPhone.

Would definitely like to have an easily switchable user profiles, to keep one for work and one for private things. Currently I'm just afraid to add my work Exchange account to the Mail app - Exchange server (not to mention mobile devices management systems that we didn't deploy yet) has the right to wipe data on the client devices and modify security settings like pins/passwords, screen timeouts etc. Having an isolated account for that (like it's done in Silentcircle's breed of Android, no data flow between profiles) would be nice. Company will have it's data under control, I'll have mine, everyone happy.

I'd like to see the following:
-Deeper app linking so apps can share stuff to one another much easier
-Default apps
-FIX THE DAMN THIRD PARTY KEYBOARDS!!!!!!!!!!
-Give widgets on home screens if we want
-Allow us to put homescreen icons anywhere we want to put them
-Dark mode
-Support for using PS or Xbox controllers over an OTG cable
-Extreme battery saver mode
-Customisable control center
-Support mice/trackpads (More so for the iPad Pro than anything else)

I want ......... um........ well dang it you stole all of mine :D

Yay! Finally someone didn't just copy paste my list and read my post.

Something I've been wondering about your first list. Wouldn't they need to come up with an adapter to make the controllers even be able to plug in as an OTG thing?

Why? Instead of micro USB male on one side and USB female on the other, replace it with a lightning male connector on one side and USB female on the other. Especially now that the iPad Pro uses a USB 3.0 interconnect as opposed to the old USB 2.0.

So you're expecting Microsoft to come out with a controller that has a lightning on one end? And Sony?

Apple can make it as well, even though we all know they will charge entirely all too much.

I could see Apple making a controller, charging 75$ for it, then people it's too expensive and that it shouldn't use up the sole lightning port. That being said, it's a perfect time to add a second lightning port to iOS devices. I'd freaking love a good controller or even a cord to plug in my XBO controller into my iPad Pro.

How about bringing back the iPod app (merge local music and videos) and create an Apple Music app?

Yes! Especially the Pro! It deserves more than one port and it'll open up a whole lot of possibilities.

Could Apple create a file explorer that is simply a few folders that lump things in there by file extension? Documents, videos, etc. Is there something technically bad about that idea?

And kill one of the major benefits of Apple Music? Which is that it blends right in to your own music library.

What you suggest would require someone to:

- leave the "iPod" app
- open Apple Music app
- find something new to listen to or add to your existing library
- leave the Apple Music app
- relaunch the "iPod" app

Not something Apple would want to do for a service they just released and want people to sign up for.

There are 3d party Documents5, FileBrowser and others which do that and more (no need to rely on extensions etc, more cloud services, ftp/sftp/smb support). These apps are present in the AppStore for years, work well without any jailbreaks or exposing the device's filesystem to non-native software. So good chance there is nothing really bad, except us having nowadays to trust our data to more vendors. Would like to see same functionality from Apple itself too.

I would love to have a feature to temporarily disable TouchID and passcode for when I'm at the gym.

I find that it is very difficult to get it to work with any amount of moisture or sweat on my hands. To be able to disable it for a set time (say 1 hour intervals, or even 30m) would be very nice. You could even have it so that removing the headphones would re-enable it.

Stop a phone call from taking over the phone until it goes to VM. If I want to ignore a call, but not send them to VM, I have to wait until it's done ringing to do other stuff on phone
THIS. It really pisses me off that the entire communication system that is an iPhone becomes unusable till the voicemail activates. Why not just be able to have an incoming call show up as a notification while you continue to go about your business on the phone?
