I had my ideas for iOS 10, but after using my iPad Pro for two days, I have a much bigger feature request list. It's making taking the iPad from the limited iOS stuff it does now and fully embracing multitasking etc. For example, you should be able to run two safari windows side by side. My main thing would be connecting it to the desktop though - do that as default through iCloud and it becomes SO much more powerful. Let's have a 'see my mac' feature that acts as an apple-esque user friendly way to use a VPN to see and use my mac. The iPad Pro is most definitely the future of computing if Apple and developers want it to be.

  1. Scrolling in "peek" views.
  2. PIP on at least 6 plus iphones. The PIP functionality is awesome in the FB app.
  3. Pull down twice to pull down notification center or better option for single handed operation
  4. Disable preview of messages only when locked. I want to know I have a message when locked but I don't want everyone to know what the message says. Also would like to see preview while it's unlocked.
  5. Some way of visible option to turn emails into reminders
  6. Make Siri less data connection dependent. Allow common requests to be stored locally like favorites conact names or even be able to pull data from topic specific apps for example, Siri, define "exasperate" from dictionary.com(app).
  7. Custom siri activation phrase
Can make another list for the Music app.

Overall modular updates would be appreciated.

Ok whats going on O_O runs alot better on Mini 2 :O 6 plus should be better with A8 processor

I'm thinking it might be resolution related for the 6+. Somebody will likely explain why the 1080p screen actually takes more power to run than the one on the mini. Something about the scaling, that's all I remember.

There are keyboard lags on Firefox

I'm using it right now on my iPad Air 2. I'm not noticing any keyboard lag.

Yes, iOS10 diffently needs complete redesign. iOS 6/7 reminds too much of eachother :/
iOS 6 and earlier was a good and iconic look for Apple, iOS 7+ UI is childish, soulless and an eyesore. Jony Ive is a talented industrial designer but he has no idea how to design a good UI. I hope iOS 10 gives us a substantial (but not too radical) design refresh as the iOS 7 look is getting pretty stale now. I'm thinking that a future iOS redesign would better resemble the design language of OS X Yosemite and later: more consistent and fairly detailed icons, actual buttons, much less white, etc.

I remember when iOS 7 was first unveiled at WWDC 2013 and I definitely did not get a good first impression of it but then everyone kept saying: "oh it's still in beta, the design is unfinished but it'll be refined and tweaked before the official public release" and now we're on iOS 9.1 and it doesn't look any different or better and in fact, worse in some areas. I'm still trying to figure out if Apple's UI designers are lazy or just incompetent.

- The ability for iBooks to store PDFs in iCloud. Since there isn't a Preview app for iOS, iBooks is my only built-in option for storing them. However, they take up an insane amount of local space on my device, because unlike my ebooks or other files, there isn't a way to have them saved in iCloud and download as I need them. It's becoming a huge problem for me as my storage is slowly being eaten away. Meanwhile, I'm paying for plenty of iCloud space that I can't even use for this.
- Actual dictionary/thesaurus app for iOS, like OS X - often times I need to look up a word I don't know how to spell, and would prefer to be able to scroll through a list rather than having to figure out how to type it. So, in order to do this, I have to buy/download a 3rd party dictionary app, using up storage, even though a perfectly good dictionary is permanently saved on my device
- Phone app for iPad (and the Mac!)
- Real Notification center syncing
- Multi caller Facetime
- Messages storage in iCloud (so that all messages don't need to be saved on the device at all times, and can be downloaded on the fly when you look at them - kind of like how email works). Messages are taking up wayyyyy too much storage space but I don't want to delete my archive. Why not be able to use the iCloud space I'm paying for?
- Redesigned Videos app to bring it in line with the Music app, although I agree with other posters that Apple is probably already doing this in anticipation of their upcoming streaming service next year
- Breaking news notifications in the News app and the ability to handle subscriptions (from sources like the NYT and the like)
- "Save as PDF" in Safari to iCloud Drive (instead of iBooks - once you put a PDF in iBooks, you can't get it out!)
- Support for the iPad SD card reader on the iPhone, but word on the street is that it already works in 9.2 betas - haven't tested this yet myself though
- Smarter Spotlight - I want it to be able to do anything Siri can do. I share an office with 5 people and want to be able to use the Siri functions without having to talk out loud and bother them.

Apple Promised iOS 9 would get a big step in performance. What do we get, just as bad iOS 8/7 was. Was pretty excited when i saw keynote. after people begin to talk about iOS 9 beta didnt run great, was a little let down :/ I think they just didnt put work enouth into iOS 9. As for ui designers, i felt iOS 7 was designed pretty quick. Just alot white and blue colours

That's why I believe letting Forstall go was a mistake. He was an absolute perfectionist in the same vein as Steve Jobs and he ran a tight ship in the software department and did his best to make sure that his team were delivering top-notch quality when it came to performance and UI design. Forstall was a necessary evil and was absolutely vital to the success of Apple's OSes. While there were a few mishaps like Maps, it honestly pales in comparison to everything that followed. In the same way that I believe Jony Ive is a terrible and clueless UI designer, I also believe that while Craig Federighi seems to be an all around good guy, I don't think he's truly capable of managing and engineering the software, I just don't think he's experienced enough.

He was the reason features weren't added to iOS. You think they would have chnaged the design in iOS 7 if he was still around? I prefer the new look much more. 3rd party keyboards? Again, no. and way more I can't think of at the moment.

- I'm also on the redesign train, this thing isn't even looking peaceful, it just looks like a bunch of crying colors. In my opinion they're not badly combined but they aren't completely fitting and pleasing to the eye.

- Fix all the the bugs and stutters:Useless if they're doing their deep "everything goes to hell again" tweaking every time they cook a new iOS version.

- Option to get rid of some pre-installed apps:The ones that can be safely removed.

- More color on backgrounds and menus: Plain white is just horrible sometimes.

- Some retro animations: I loved the smoothness of getting the keyboard to show up on iOS 6, it would quickly scroll the whole screen up. It all seemed smooth and pleasant to the eye, and i know that iOS 7/8/9 does almost the same but somehow the effect seems missing...incomplete
Maybe they could have updated the animations instead of replacing them completely.
Some essence seems to have been lost, a few details. Like the animation whe you opened the camera.

- A not so simple lock-screen. At least a bugless one.

- Getting rid of one of the two spotlight searchs: Don't add it to older devices, but at least put it just to the left and remove the "swipping down one".

Well, that's my humble/not so humble/i wanna kill you Ive opinion.

We can't be sure about any of those things. I think that marketing is on charge of some decisions. Take iOS 9 for example: It wasn't going to have any new features at all, focusing mainly on fixing and optimizing things...But higher executives said NO, beacuse it has to be innovative, sacrificing quality and stability in the process.

Moral of the story: We can't tell for sure.
