Is there any lists I should be using to better cover my privacy as I tend to prefer to avoid Ghostery?
Take a look at Privacy Badger by the EFF (available for Firefox and Chrome). It's different from the other blockers; it doesn't use pre-configured lists (that will never be complete and up-to-date), but identifies trackers algorithmically by keeping note of domains that follow you around across multiple webpages and try to use cookies or other unique identification methods. It works very well.

I don't whitelist anyone. I block all ads on all sites.

I don't even have ads on any of the websites that I personally run.

I don't have any ads on my site either because I'm an amateur. I have no pretentions that my site replaces or even supplements professional content.

Also is it just me or does purify keep going up in price? Feel like it was 1.99 a few days ago, then 2.99 and now i see its 3.99. Maybe its just me
I just checked my Apple account, and I purchased Purify on Sept 17 (late at night) for $3.99. Not sure what the price was the prior day.

I was using crystal and decided to try purify. I can't select any links in Macworld main page and other sites seem to have issues. Same results on my iPhone and iPad. Went back to using crystal and feel like I wasted $4 now.

So, because one site didn't work correctly, you are going to stop using the app? Crystal doesn't load Yahoo.com correctly, in regards to the photo news carousel. Should people stop using the Crystal app because of that, or should they report a problem with the site, so that it can be addressed by the developer?

There is no such thing as a content blocker that blocks every ad on every website and works perfectly loading content.

Edited to add: I Tweeted the Macworld problem to Purify.

Could someone with Blockr and Purify test a site for me, please? Go to welt.de and tell me if that big banner at the top (Welt Edition, loads delayed) gets blocked. Thanks.

I started using Crystal last night and like it for the most part, but the yahoo news carousel is driving me insane. I'm glad there is an easy manual fix though, by reloading the site and selecting "reload without content blockers".

You mean the app option? Those aren't ads. Those are programmed to tell you there is an app for the site.

Blockr (beta) blocks it but is taking a very long time to load the page with all user toggles on.

Purify blocks it and is fast in loading the site.

No not the ads. Thee is a animated big blue banner opening after a few seconds. It's on the desktop site, not on the mobile site (m.welt.de).

I reported the Yahoo problem as soon as I saw it a few days ago. Hopefully, Dean can get it sorted. If he can also block sponsored ads, he will have a draw on the content blocker market at the moment, in my opinion.

Purify loads the page very quickly but does not block the Die Welt banner.
Interesting, it's blocking it here.

I'm running Blockr on a mini and no ad at the top

Thanks. Crystal blocks it as well, even though it's an English app. I'm very pleased with Crystal.
Chip.de is so full of trackers and ads that Safari will stall for like 10 seconds, before it continues to load.

Also thanks @ kbmb and scjr!

I had to turn off ad blocking on Mac to see what banner he was talking about, as I was looking at the wrong thing on the banner on the phone. Both content blockers work albeit Purify loads faster.

I've read the first and last (28) pages on this.

Could someone fill in a few questions I have? I use ABP on my desktop and love it, is there something similar for safari on iOS?
Do I need this running as a background app or is it an extension? Or do I just need to run it once?

I have a scorched earth policy with ads and data mining. If they hadn't been so aggressive and intrusive I wouldn't have minded Now unless you are paying me to view ads I won't view them, and my data is mine, if you want it, pay me for it.
Try out the Adblock browser. It's made by the same devs as Ablock Plus.

I was wrong in my post. I have since edited. Purify (speed wise) loads faster and does in fact block.

Considering Adblock Plus will negotiate with sites and get paid to not block some ads, I bet this has happened with them.
They are only allowed if you check the box that says allow non obtrusive ads. If you uncheck that box, the ads that the advertisers paid Adblock Plus to white list are also blocked.

I realize that don't work on all sites and I suspect this will turn into a cat and mouse game with more sites trying to cripple iOS content blockers now.

It was actually your review that inspired me to purchase purify. I love your reviews btw.

I am sure that it will all be resolved. And me saying I wasted money was a bit of an exaggeration so I take that back and apologize to you and anyone else I have offended. Thanks for reporting the problem.
