Can someone test the site opensubtitles.org and let me know if your adblocker is working well for this particular site? I am using Safari Blocker and it doesn't work that well.

Weird. On first load with Silentium 1.1 beta, there's the initial popup ad. But when I reloads, the popup ad is gone. Otherwise, no ads on the page. No white space where the ads are supposed to be either.

Same here. I sent them a report about the popup.

If i just had to get one what would you recommend.....this thread has too much choice right now.

I don't know why people here didn't recommend the best app so far: ADBLOCK FAST

It is free and is the only one with A+ rating.

Don't trust anyone who try to convince you to spend money in some app before recommending you to try the free and open-source adblock fast.

Try all free apps and then, if you cant find one that suits you, go try the paid ones.

Are you saying that folks who recommend a paid App aren't trustworthy?

This reminds of the time you basically called BasicGreatGuy dishonest, in regards to another review he did. He gives Adblock Fast an A+ rating and now he's a-ok in your book.

Think before you insert-foot-mouth Hank, because offending others is a very poor trait.

I just tried a few of these (Safari Blocker, Purify, and Adblock Fast) -- I'm sure I'll be happy with any of the three, but they all happen to leave a white space where the ad would be, right in these very MacRumors threads. Are there any which successfully remove that space? Just curious.

It's my understanding that Silentium gets rid of the empty spaces at least in some instances, but having never tried it myself I can't say for certain.

I'm sure someone will correct me if/when necessary.

Correct. I don't see empty spaces on the forum with Silentium or even AdMop.

A lot of times, the empty spaces are the fault of the app. To a lesser degree, it can be the website, due to how the site was constructed.

Whats your favorite free and paid as of today?
As I previously mentioned, I am not going to list my favorites at this time. Once the developers have had time to correct problems with their respective apps, I will start the process of doing follow up reviews. In that light, I believe users and potential customers can get a better understanding of the mindset and focus of the developer(s) thus giving them more information to make a decision, as to stay with an app or look to another.

Seeing the same thing on Purify.

Btw -- to amend my above post (and so I don't sound like a heel) -- I'm necessarily advocating blocking ads on MacRumors. I'm just trying a few of these out, it's my first day with a compatible phone, etc.

i used weblock with ios7.1.2
with icab browser.....no ads or popups
with safari....no popups but sex oriented ads
with dolphin....same as safari

both icab and dolphin have ad blocking built in

tried the site without weblock
with icab...still no sex ads but full page popups and new page redirects
with safari...a popup for a free prize from a fake facebook site that icould accept or...close safari.

i don't know if the op is legit but i would be careful testing this site.

What we need, is an app that will allow us to click on an ad, and automatically add the ad to the user's personal block list. A lot of users don't know where to put information in the custom rules section. Having this ability would help take the load off the developer to correct a site, as well as empowering the user of the app.

Edited to add: The first developer that can make this happen will have a gold mine, in my opinion.
