As far as I'm concerned Eyeo can go jump in a lake. I would never trust anyone who deliberately creates a conflict of interest as Eyeo has done.

They want their cake and eat it too.. sorry, I'm not going to bite. Well, I may install the app just to give it a review and let the world know what they're doing, but it will be uninstalled immediately after that.

I'm really liking AdMop plenty. His support is outstanding. He works very hard on his blocklist. Seems to be loading faster and faster. I can't wait for the beta, with new features.

I am running Purify and like it but have a question. Can a content blocker erase an entire website? A site I use called Zergnet.com shows a blank page and has about:blank in the url bar. Googled the site and tried to open it from there and same thing. Only running the basic setup for the app so was wondering if anyone was experiencing this. Thanks.

If you don't like their business model, I'd recommend not to install it. They will use the number of app downloads (plus Crystal downloads) as a bargaining chip when negotiating the kickbacks with the ad industry. The more people install it, the more powerful Eyeo gets. The worst thing that can happen is that they will become as dominant on mobile as they are on the desktop ...

Has anyone noticed that Yahoo is changing up its homepage, after you visit it the first time in its original format? Of course, when it changes banner and sponsored ads get through.

I wonder if Yahoo is fighting back against the adblockers? Haha

I just noticed the sponsored ads and banner, too. This is a cat and mouse game ...

That's a very good point.. I'll follow that advice :)

F-Secure now released a blocker as well. It is free, very fast and thorough but only blocks ads. If you want to block trackers, you have to use their Freedome VPN (I do. Excellent VPN).

Very good company.

If that is true, it's a bad idea. For one, a VPN-based solution cannot block trackers that are loaded via HTTPS (encrypted HTTP). Second, it's better to prevent resources from being loaded directly on the device rather than some proxy in the network to avoid unnecessary traffic. And third, using a VPN is simply unnecessary overhead in many situations (e.g. when connected through a cellular network or your home WLAN.

There is no good reason for an adblocker not to block trackers (in fact, I'd argue it's more important than blocking non-tracking ads).

Lol, you know VPNs are sh*t right?

All your data goes through their servers!!! It is a massive MITM.
Banks, personal info, everything is in their servers...

Don't do that.

That's a good point. Quite a lot of sites use HTTPS.
There is no good reason but they want to sell their product, of course.

I don't think SSL traffic can be MITMed. I actually trust them more than my own ISP who has my personal details. You pay Freedome anonymously. F-Secure maybe could extract my name or some details from unencrypted connections (though those details usually aren't transmitted unencrypted) but I doubt they'd take that effort. Another thing is that the entire climate here in Germany is shifting into a forced consensus / acceptable opinion direction that I'm not too fond of.
