Last night -- Apple Maps took me for a ride, going around in circles (literally) in San Jose.
Had to switch over to Google Maps.
Anyone knows if back-end algorithms get updates between major releases of Maps app?

I put myself on Justin O'Bierne's email list for updates.

Per the email I just received, Look Around is now available in three more cities in Japan. Fukuoka, Hiroshima, and Takamatsu.

Nothing about new areas anywhere else.

Yesterday’s Waze update brought with it lane guidance and the long-awaited CarPlay Dashboard support.

Apple Maps in the UK seems to have lost all of its non-full-size roundabouts for some reason, just acts as if they're not there!

Taking a crack at new feedback. I started sending in info about bike paths since Apple Maps shows some of them. (Most are missing...some of the ones that are missing are fairly new though, so that could be part of it). My past reports about building footprints in the standard view, additions of parks and water bodies, etc have been addressed fairly quickly. Let's see how it goes for bike paths!

With it going into cold and snowy season here, bike paths aren't at the top of everyone's minds, but it'll be nice to have them all on the map in time for warmer weather in the spring! Plus, who knows...maybe cycling directions will be available in my area by then as well! They aren't available in the Chicago area yet, but here's hoping it's on the way as there are TONS existing, new, and upcoming trails/paths. My town has been putting a lot of money into cycling infrastructure. Directions will be the icing on the cake.

Have to start doing that. Noticed that recently a number of bike/walking paths have shifted to incorrect positions.
GMaps has it correct but AMaps is now showing it incorrectly. Interestingly AMaps has the house shapes correct but the path and road wrong.

Not here...did two hard restarts and nothing...
Same here. Justin O'Bierne also posted that Look Around has been added in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and "other areas in Canada". Hopefully this is a sign of Look Around releases speeding up. That's a pretty decent number released at once.

Oooookay...umm, Canada's Look Around coverage is HUGE!

So...looks like Look Around has been given a lot more leeway for the AI to do it's job, particularly on major roads.

But to be fair, it you go out side of the major cities, there are hardly any cars or people to have to blur out information. Still, quite surprised to see most of Halifax covered. Some interesting off ramps and a few side streets just missed or left off for some reason.

Maybe we'll see a massive data dump of additional USA areas sooner rather than later if this was a test for Apple??

Whoa!

14.3 update is going on now....hoping that triggers new Maps update as well. We'll see in a few minutes.

EDIT: Yep! That did it!
Hopefully this large of a release is a sign of things to come! Especially now that Canada's coverage now significantly outsizes the US coverage areas.

I have yet to be lucky enough to do that 😂 Chicago's coverage area didn't extend out this far 😂
Which was kind of my surprise. I live in the suburbs of Edmonton and figured, OK, maybe they'll have downtown Edmonton in Look Around, but it appears to be the entire city (at least based on what I've scrolled through.)

Yeah...I need to update page one again....they basically have covered nearly every "major" city in one pass!

I sort of got double-screwed when it came to Look Around. The Chicago area's coverage doesn't extend out to where I live now...and the San Francisco Bay Area's coverage doesn't extend out to my hometown, either 😂 It will be a nice trip down memory lane when that one expands!

Chicago's coverage DOES include where I work though! So while I can't find my house on it yet...if I start to miss the hospital on my days off, I can go look at that 😂

Did they remove traffic light indicators? I’m not seeing them in Canada or the United States.
