My iPhone randomly goes to sleep when Maps is in driving directions mode. At random interval, iPhone's screen dims goes to sleep several seconds later. It will then require a Face ID unlock, which is not something I want to do while driving.

I've had this happen in the past and I typically wrote it off as a bug. Hard restart...the phone seems to think it is "locked" and does this. Sometimes just swiping up in the app switcher and "opening" it again has worked for me as well.

“Hi, I’d like directions down the New Jersey Turnpike towards Maryland, please.”

Google Maps: “Sure! How about the route where you make a u-turn on an exit ramp over a jersey barrier and get yourself killed?”

I’m sometimes just floored at how bad Google Maps can be. How people ever considered them to be the “gold standard” of navigation is beyond me. LOL

Iv’e had more instances like this with Google than any other map app. Has tried to have me make more dangerous illegal turns than any other map app. Always report them and they’re always fixed though...but has never happened with Apple.

That’s got to be the Vince Lombardi Service Area. Crazy set of ramps anywhere (other than the GWB approaches, of course!)

No, those photos are actually much further south, at Exit 12.

It seems Google Maps wanted me to switch from the truck lanes to the car lanes, and found an illegal (and impossible) method of doing so. lol

Mine too. Did you report it using the Feedback app?

If you tap the locked screen, the screen will turn on again, and will remain on, but your phone will stay locked.

Well it was standard even using Maps before for the screen to stay locked by just tapping it - at least that's what I saw when I had my iPhone in a bracket before I started with CarPlay.
Does the locking happen if the iPhone is plugged in via USB or connected to your car's audio via BlueTooth?

Well...my last car didn't have Apple CarPlay. With my phone connected to my car via Bluetooth (but not plugged in), I would open up Waze on my phone, jam it into a cupholder, and the screen would stay on for the entire trip.

Not sure if this is a iOS14 problem or a watch os 7 problem. Correct photo should show to the left (slip road on UK motorway) verbal directions were correct.

Dave is clearly from the UK, where they go clockwise around roundabouts, and turn left to exit. But the symbol in the "upcoming" turn uses Apple's symbol for roundabouts here in America (and elsewhere), where we go around counterclockwise.

LMAO!!! Missed that one.
Was thinking about these from a recent trip to Sedona Az.

Does anyone have any information on how EV routing will work? Will it require the car’s app to integrate with Maps or will the feature be magically switched on? Very confused.

Anyone know if Apple maps have started updating U.K. version yet. I keep noticing little things not too sure if it’s because they are implementing changes.

The thought is that it is brand/vehicle specific, so yes, Ford will submit their info to work with Apple’s EV app in their vehicle so it’s only showing you chargers for that vehicle, not Tesla’s for example.

Also why it’s actually only working with Ford and BMW to start with other brands coming on board later.

I’m really expecting something in the next 2-4 weeks so beta folks can try it before a wide release to all when iOS 14 launches in Sep/Oct.
