Can anyone recommend a leather case very similar to apples in terms of looks and build quality that doesn't cost £50 and comes in either black or midnight blue? Preferably something that's available in the UK

https://www.apple.com/uk/shop/produ...eaf4701ccdcfc2e221c403d63d60adb9a2acd2beedb38

From personal experience the closest you'll get to Apple's leather cases are the ones from Nomad:

https://www.hellonomad.com/leather-case-iphone-7-plus-rustic-brown

Only thing is, is that because they are based outside the U.K. , you'll more than likely get stung for additional Customs & Excise charges on top of the price of the case, when the package arrives in the UK. Great cases though.

Picked up authentic UAG Monarch on eBay for $14. Mint shape. Never interested in this case at full price. I’ll try it now. Of course, it has that dual compatibility thing going on for the microphone on 6 models. Normally would steer away from that, but for this price worth to try. :)

Edit: Ordered the Silk Armor Base Grip as well. That should be enough for now. :D

Looks great!
[doublepost=1508011761][/doublepost]Kristen did a review on the new Presidio Grip for 8/8+. Looks good, with more grip.

I wonder if they addressed the issue where the grips wore quickly?

Nice. How do you like them?
I have the black/black and I like it but not as an everyday case. My daughter has had the other for quite a while. She is quite fond of it. Although we both still use the Apple silicone more frequently. I have the olive and she has the cobalt. We both love those cases :)

Oh, man. I’m very tempted by the new Presidio Grip. The only thing holding me back is the uncertainty of knowing how it may hold up over time. In the past, I’ve either witnessed or read of how the rubberized portion degrades away from the rest of the case. Sounds like that may have been improved upon?

The life of a case junkie can certainly be a very conflicted one :p

Let us know what you think. My concern is that I heard it can be a bit loose of the phone.
I will.

I’m cool with a little loose. Doesn’t have to be as tight as a Rhinoshield, but can’t be real flappy either.

AE14,

I also picked up the new Speck Presidio in Black/Black to try. Hopefully this is end of my case buying spree. :D

Please share your thoughts as well! I like reading all of the feedback.
Its a good case. I do think that the backwards compatible speaker holes are better than the last version. However, I still don't like that look.

My daughter has had the white/black version for her 7+ and it has held up really nicely. We got it just before the 8 plus release, so almost a month

Im with you. I want it to be tight enough to wear I have to put effort in to making it come off. Thats my problem with my evo check at the bottom

So I have 3 or 4 cases now for the 8 Plus... here are my thoughts for anyone that cares!

Apple Charcoal Grey Leather Case - The usual, good quality leather case. Won’t provide much protection but feels really nice in the hand. More for scratch protection than anything else.

Speck Presidio Black (Non Grip) - Feels nice and protective. Fits really well, and they seem to have sorted out the rubber areas this year, have used for a couple of weeks now as the main case and it’s nice. Only negative for me is that the bottom of the case feels a little sharp where you rest it on your finger.

Patchwork’s ITG Level Case - This is a fairly nice case, fits well but is basically the same as the Speck. Cheaper though. Feels fairly protective much like the Speck (Basically there is no point having both this one and the Speck, so sue me)

Caseology Wavelength Black - Nice case, feels funky. Looks a bit more jazzy than the spec but I don’t feel like it’s going to protect it as well. Nicer to hold with one hand, the bottom isn’t sharp at all. Fits a bit looser than all the rest!

Any questions just ask

That Purple is ***** awesome. I am also a straight guy. One of our school colors was dark purple so were all our uniforms. So I've always loved that color.

I was thinking of buying that color also. The hot pink leather color looks cool too. (I’m straight too). This whole color-sexual orientation thing our society has developed is so stupid.

At any rate, I just started using a spigen neo hybrid herringbone in shiny black color. I like how clicky the buttons are. Snug fit. It has that raised front bezel for the screen that many case makers don’t include.

Received a couple of cases today.

Silk Base Grip tends to lean towards being a thinner type case, with some drop protection built into the corners. Unsure if it can take a serious drop, but reviews on Amazon say it does well with drops. It has a very good grip and a nice feel. Feel is almost like a very smooth sandpaper throughout the case. This will resist fingerprints and helps with grip. It snaps right in. Fit is nice, with mininmal play on the sides. I’m picky about fit. I’m good with this case. For $12, it’s a great case and it really makes the Plus easier to handle with one hand.

First time trying a UAG case. This one is the Monarch. If you like the industrial type look, this is one to consider. Price on this is on the high end in my opinion. Think it’s $59.95 through UAG. I never considered this case, simply because of the price. Picked it up for $14, after using $7 of eBay bucks on eBay. Well made case and seems that it could take a good lick and protect your phone. Phone snaps into case nicely. Easy on and off. Grip is good. Cut outs on bottom are compatible with 6/6+ microphone. Not really a fan of that, but suprisingly in person it didn’t bother me.

Since trying on the UAG, I’ve been using the Silk Base Grip around the house. Have to say, for price, very impressed.

Both installed on my 7 Plus, but will work with the 8 Plus too.

Pics of cases, comparing thickness. The one case on left is the Silk Armor Tough Case.

I was checking this one out, but have so many cases already.

Looks like a real good case. Technically Tee reviewed it on YT.

THank you for this. I am concerned about the minimal play for the base grip. How do you like the Silk Tough Case?

Not a big UAG guy...the branding is too obnoxious for my taste.

The Base Grip is actually much tighter than I thought it would be. Think you may be surprised and for $12 is a nice case, but if you prefer Rhinoshield tight not many meet that standard.

The Silk Tough Case is great. Got rid of the Thule X3 and kept the Tough Case. For $20 and 2 glass screen protectors, it’s a great deal. To me, better deal than the full price UAG. Not drop rated, but small company out of Austin and sure getting certified drop rated is expensive. Reviews on Amazon say it handles drops well. One guy said he dropped it 6 ft from his truck and his phone was fine. I can believe that. Nice lip too.
