it doesn’t have to be like the Rhinoshield per se. but like the Symmetry or Presidio Grip would be good.
I do like the deal on the tough case though. Definitely interested in looking at that.

Yeah, probably not as tight as those. Tough case is worth a go for sure.
After trying a couple others The one I’ve kept for my 8 plus is: Spigen Ultra Hybrid - 2nd Generation - Crystal Clear. Grips well enough, and allows you to see the phone.
Found this video. It’s a 7 Plus in Matte Black, but gives you an idea what it will look like.
I have the black 8 plus with that same case in Shiny Black. I’ll try and take pics. It looks really good. Feels solid.
Do you think the herringbone could protect the phone during a drop?
Seems pretty solid and hugs the phone really good. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be able to handle some drops. Just don’t go chucking it across the yard onto concrete.
I bought this case for the 8, but the shiny black is a fingerprint magnet and i don't like the feeling, i returned and order the Gunmetal instead.
The case looks really solid, it has great raisetivity and give protection. The problem is i usually use Apple's silicone case, and the touch is unique.
I've got the gun metal version of that case with a space gray 8 plus. I really like it. It looks good. Fits well. All the buttons work and the ports (lightening, speakers, camera) are well proportioned and lined up. The plastic bumper isn't slippery in your hands at all and the rubbery material on the back provides good grip when laying the phone on its back. It doesn't make your phone significantly bigger like some phones.
It seems like the case would provide ample protection for basic drops. There's a good lip on the front of the phone to protect the screen. I've had similar cases for my old 6 plus and they kept my phone in pristine condition.

I received my Speck Presidio Grip, black/black color.
Speck made some nice upgrades. They added more rubber grip lines. Speaker cutouts are still backwards compatible, but now look better in my opinion. The cutouts are just cut slightly larger. Much better look than a round microphone cutout, a slit and another slit. Materials are supposedly upgraded, so the grips don’t wear as quickly like the original Presidio Grip had issues with.
Note: If you want the upgraded Presidio Grip, you have to order the one for the 8 Plus. (will work with 6/7)
If you’re looking for grip, this thing has plenty of grip. I never feel like this case will easily slip from my hands. Super grip on this case. The buttons are very responsive and clicky. Scratch resistant polycarbonate back. The fit on my 7 Plus was excellent. It will fit the 8 Plus as well. There’s a decent lip on the Presidio. The Candyshell Grip definitely had more lip, but the Presidio is slimmer. Slimmer form factor and 10 feet of drop protection is pretty good stuff.
I really like the case overall, but not sure I like it as much for the $45 asking price. I paid $18 on eBay, from a super nice forum member here. If you can get this one on sale, think it would be a much better value at a lower price point. That’s just my observation and preference. You may love this case at full price. Hope that helps.

It is a very nice case. Very thin, light and offers excellent durability.
The only thing I don’t like is that the camera opening is very large (nit picky on my part). I prefer the Spigen or Apple Case camera openings.
Agreed. I still have the base grip on. Just had such a nice feel. Very similar to magpul.
That case is real sleeper. Using it one handed with the Plus is great. Might be throwing it back on again soon.
