I currently have the silk on my phone. I am quite fond of it. I intend on ordering the silk armor soon, and using it as a more "travel" case. We are heading to Disney in 2 weeks, so I am going to use that as my disney case ;)

Yeah. It’s odd as most companies basically just swap the $ for £. But amazon sell the speck cases for under £20. The base grip is £10 but then because it’s an import there’s postage so works out around £14.

I don’t actually think the presidio is as grippy as the candyshell used to be.

Kinda torn between ordering another presidio in a different colour (I have the purple) or trying the blue silk base for something different.
Did you get the newer version of the Presidio Grip? They added more grip lines and area.

Check this video. Kristin compares the old and new Grip:

Looking at that no I have the old version.

But Speck cases UK site only has the black version for 8. Amazon doesnt say which version it is either.

Has to say it’s for the 8 Plus. Speck marketing this case for 8 Plus, backwards compatible 6/7.

Their website still selling 7 Plus Grip cases, with old grip design.

I have both the Silk base grip case and the Speck Presidio grip case. I’ve been a long term user of speck grip cases for years. Sadly the quality of the cases has gotten progressively worse. I’ve been through 3 grip cases in the last 9 months alone. Latest one lasted 2 weeks before the rubber started to come away and peel. I’ve now given up on Speck all together.

The silk base grip is an excellent choice. It doesn’t offer as muc grip as the speck but will last a lot longer and is much cheaper.

Good info!

Have you tried the newer Presidio Grip, specifically marketed for iPhone 8 (backwards compatible 6/7) ?

Supposedly the materials have improved.

Yes, that’s the one that has started to peel after a few weeks. Really disappointing.

Here is a pic. It’s getting sent back. Speck customer service is poor.

Well that’s not good. How did their service treat you? Gave you difficult time?

Thanks for sharing.

Just put the Caudabe Synthesis in black on my 8+. It’s definitely very thin and nice. Gotta say it’s not grippy nor slippery and tbh I don’t know how it has 9.8 feet of drop protection.

I am going to try it for a few days to get a good feel for it. Will try to upload pictures later.

Cool first impressions. I wonder if it’s certified drop protection or they just gave it a number?

I’m not sure tbh. I will say it definitely fits nicely. However the black back is showing some fingerprints.

For size comparison...it’s very similar to the base grip

Why do I have a feeling the Base Grip will be calling your name again? :)

It’s $30 with supposed 9.8 feet of drop protection, which I just don’t understand.

Honestly, you can get better deals on amazon tbh
I always appreciate your take on cases. Thank you!

What are you thinking of switching to?
Maybe back to the Base Grip or the Silk Tough Case. I really like the tough case. Lens on back does pick up scratches, but case is rugged, has a nice lip and grip is real good.

I’m the same way. Always looking to find a better case.
