Been playing with it for an hour on Auto 100%. Phone just feels room temperature.

The speakers played a song impressively loud for a phone, not quite as rich as the htc one m7 my friend has. But just as loud and didnt distort.

On an unrelated note this is the first manufacturer keyboard im considering using over the google keyboard

Just had a play with the G3.

Boy is it sexy!!

Do you see the over sharpening on the screen that some people are saying on reviews? Or do the edges look natural?

Also try using the phone with 100% brightness (without auto) for a while doing normal stuff (web browsing, texting, calls, videos, etc) and see if you get the message about overheating and brightness level going down, to see how long it takes for this to happen on normal circumstances or if it does not happen to you at all.

The text looks like this when you tab the address bar in chrome and the page darkens. Other than that i havent seen any oversharpening.

Edit: been browsing for nearly an hour now on max brightness but the screen has only gotten a little warm. No warmer than when i had other phones on charge.

I know it's too early, but any impressions regarding the battery?

Today I got about 4 and a half hours on screen time, that was me pretty much playing with it constantly when it came off the charger, it spent an additional 3 hours on standby when I actually had to do work, and it was its first charge today. An hour of that was at 100% brightness to see if it overheated, mixture of Chrome and Youtube. I've heard naturally that battery life increases as it settles though.

On Sunday Im hopefully heading to my friend Kirky29's house to have a photo shoot-out with between me and him with his LG G2. He has a real camera too so I can hopefully take comparison shots of the screens etc. He might be working though.

Got one as well. Extremely impressive device. All my initial worries are gone except one thing:

There is a (as mentioned in some reviews) slight halo effect on text, probably because of aggressive sharpening to make the screen look more impressive I guess. Hopefully it is a software thing that can be remedied.

Happy to answer any other questions.

I guess biggest concerns at this time are battery life. Some reported overheating issues. Some also reported issues with screen brightness or screen being dim at regular settings.

But that millisecond saved as it opens an app quicker will literally add up to at least 4 seconds after a few years of use ... That's 4 seconds you wouldn't have otherwise ;)

I understand your point...but 64bit.

That's a massive reason for the 805 model plus considering the fact that L has 64bit support

It will likely be years before se see true benefits of 64bit in mobiles simply because of the sheer amount of hardware that doesn't support it. Until were at a stage where 50+ % of mobile chips in handset support it! I don't think we will see much of a difference. (Exponentially speaking). :)

From the very first charge I got 5 hours SOT. I expect that to be even better. Brightness is fine, don't worry. The halo thing is a bit annoying though even if you only can see it in certain cases. (book readers in my case)

Of course, Apple has shown us that with A7-not ready for prime-time. But we don't adopt 64 bit because the effects aren't suddenly visible then we will be waiting forever and it becomes a cycle, if mobile chipsets don't support 64 bit why bother making apps that might use that untapped power?

Chicken or the egg thing here really.

Yep exactly... At the moment it's more about marketing, but eventually it will have a tangible benefit.

Here come the negatives.

I have begun to notice the occasional animation stutter in the UI, when going to the home screen etc. It takes slightly longer than usual and when the home screen comes up its devoid of icons, which suddenly pop in. The notification tray stutters coming down if you haven't pulled it down in a while, and when that happens it stutters when you dis was notifications.

The keyboard can sometimes be less than responsive but I've since switched to the Google keyboard. The screen also turns pretty much grey and white when the screen is tilted away from you. Similar to how the Xperia Z1 screen was, but not as bad. And I've had to set a knock code because the screen hitting my leg in the pocket kept registering as me double tapping the screen when I walked.

I managed to get 6 hours screen time today on 70% brightness. I've read it got 6 hours 20 in some benchmarks. But in those same benchmarks the other flagship got 7 hours+ and the Z2 got 8 hours.

Do you think its more related to LG skin ? i don't have experience with LG phones but people always mention its pretty "heavy" like Touchwiz, hopefully they can fix or tweak with a update.

Screen time results look great but was that with cellular use only or wifi also ?

I know the old skin was really heavy, but this one looks much lighter, whether or not it's lighter under the hood I don't know.

4 and a half hours of that screen time was on Wi-Fi, the rest was 3G.

That issue of icons disappearing on the homescreen when you press the home key also happens on the G2.

You can see it for yourself on many YouTube videos about the G2. I also saw it in person when trying one.

It's something that I didn't like either. Also saw it on the G3 in YouTube reviews.

It's sort of a thing of the LG skin. I think the G2 still has this issue despite updates. You should ask in the XDA G2 thread though to be sure.

TouchWiz is similar also. It's called homescreen redraw. Using Nova or Apex helps a lot to avoid this issue.

Saw the G3 today. Amazing design and feel in hand. Superb build quality. Best design I've ever seen on a phone. Wasn't that big.

But I bought the G2 instead, mainly because of better battery life and very similar hardware between the two, and the issues the G3 is having (overheating, oversharpening, less battery life, dimmer display, etc).

G3 was 495€ and G2 was 321€.

After a few hours with the phone it's a huge HUGE upgrade over my SGS3. Can't believe how slow my SGS3 was until now!:eek: from unlocking the lockscreen, navigating through the UI, turning on the screen, etc.

The screen is vastly superior to AMOLED too.

The phone is so so good that I'm thinking of buying the G3!! :D:D but then I think about the issues again :(

Would love to buy the G3 for that bigger screen, better build quality and microSD card.

Enjoy your new G2! Maybe wait to see how the first few batches of the G3 come out and see if they make any changes to fix the issues. In the meantime enjoy your new phone! :)

Thanks! It was about time to leave the SGS3 and upgrade! The difference is like night and day (obviously).

Yeah, I like the G2 so much that I can't stop thinking about the G3...:D

I'll keep thinking about it for the next few days and see what I do...:rolleyes:
