I'm very very impressed with my gold g3 the screen is the finest I have ever seen it's pin sharp and a joy, there's still redraw lag though battery is ok nothing special, mirrorcast is crap though never works speakers fine not m8 quality but it's fine but like I said the screen is the winner here I absolutely love this screen ;)

No further impressions/reviews/pros and cons from people owning it?

I've posted the pros and cons I noticed. I think the overheating issue is overblown after spending the day shooting in the Woods, me with my G3, my friend with his G2.

His phone accidently unlocked in his pocket on the drive back with the camera open and his G2 got very hot and shut the brightness down to 70% with the message "unable to increase brightness until temperature decreases".

Overall I love the phone, not a worthy upgrade over the G2 though. My photos were better, but not by a huge margin.

I have heard the same conclusion from quite a few people. It make me rethink getting the G3. But then all bets are off once i see it at AT&T.......just sayin......

Same can be said about most phones this year. If you have the previous years model nothing really jumps out as a must get.

You'll definitely love the design. When I saw it I was like :eek: such a beautiful design and the kind of build quality I like.

On the other hand, G2 offers amazing battery life and I'd say just as good performance (or better).

Although that microSD card slot is really useful.

That is what I am afraid of! :) then i will end up getting one! :)

Thank you for all your informations, still not sure if I should buy one, owning a G2 makes it even more pointless.
But this desire to get something new...

I don't know why I thought this phone for already up for sale in the US.

The text looks like this when you tab the address bar in chrome and the page darkens. Other than that i havent seen any oversharpening.

Edit: been browsing for nearly an hour now on max brightness but the screen has only gotten a little warm. No warmer than when i had other phones on charge.

What keyboard is that?

Local AT&T stores usually get a demo model before launch date. Since one location is so close, I may try later today or at worst tomorrow.

Found this one in a store today and finally got to feel it up a bit. Quite a nice device, I have to say! Amazing that it has the same screen size as my Note 2 but in such a handy package... I have the urge now....and it looks like my girlfriend will be getting one, which means yay play time for me!!

One note: I got that 'lowering max brightness due to heat' (or similar wording) after just one minute of Youtube at 720 p. In more or less outdoors daylight that was pretty bad, almost couldn't see anything on the screen at the new max level. Of course this was a demo phone in a store so who knows what others had been doing with it and how it was set up...

But yeah, overall very very nice. Felt so good in the hand, even the buttons on the back were totally OK!

Dunno if a Nexus 6 based on this would be too naive a dream.... In any case, the G3 is now definitely on my possible upgrades list for the fall. Note 4, iPhone 6, possible Nexus 6 or this baby...

Keep the reports on your experiences coming please, I'm now reading with great interest (and my gf too...)

edit: sorry strike my comments about the N6, just read in the other thread that LG won't be making it nohow.

So today I found a G3 that was turned on and tried it for 10 minutes.

Impressions:

- No oversharpening at all. Screen looks just like any 1080P one.
- Screen much brighter than my old SGS3 but not as the G2. At 100% it felt like the G2 at 85-90% maybe. Brightness at less than 100% not enough for my liking.
- Phone started to get warm in those 10 minutes, but very little. Was just moving around menus (no Wi-Fi was available).
- New UI is very nice.
- Not as fluid as G2. Animations were just slightly slower, but I didn't saw any lag at all.

Thanks Sensamic......
The 2 issues i see with the G3 all surround the screen and you confirmed them.
1) Screen not as bright as others
2) Screen gets hot fast but not too hot.

I am going to pay a visit to the local AT&t store and get my hands on a demo unit. See what happens.

Screen is not as bright as Nexus 5 or G2, but it's good. Most people will be ok with it. I just like super bright screens like the ones in the Nexus 5 and 7 2013.

I think at 100% the G3 is ok, but that might overheat the phone faster.

I only played with the phone for 10 minutes, so don't know if it would have gotten much hotter if I had kept using it longer, but it was just warm, although I haven't seen many phones get warm in so little time.

My impressions were much better than I expected, although I didn't feel like it was a huge upgrade from the G2.

The screen size was perfect, the new UI is much much better than TouchWiz IMO, the build quality is top notch, etc.

Also forgot to add that the speakers are good. I expected them to be much louder but they were ok.

I'm still tempted to buy it for the screen size and microSD (and 4K video recording).

I have not seen a demo unit in my area as of yet. That will keep my wallet happy. Something tells me I would opt for a M8 with my experiences with it at different retailers anyways.

I just put in my order for the G3. I did my best to just stay with one phone but I should probably just accept who I am and that I will never be faithful to just one phone.

Looking forward to some user feedback on this.

Me too. Hands on though with its size versus form factor and checking out that killer display is what has me antsy. Not sure why my local stores do not have a demo at least at this point but hurry up already.

You are a phone addict.....there are meetings every Tuesday. :)
