Really cool, full price is only $599! On contract for $99. I really hope this phone is a hit and drives down the prices of competitors. It's really tempting to abandon my unlimited for the $99 upgrade price.

Oh dear I was meeting a friend from work and got there too early. Went into my carrier's store to kill time and came out with an LG G3

Day one I could have walked out of my local Verizon store with an M8 for $599 so the price is not breaking any ground.

Cannot wait to check it out but I unfortunately have negatives beforehand reading what I have so far. Numero uno is the screen quality. On the plus side, the form factor is supposedly outstanding!

Guess I would like to know how much time you spent at the store and what made you decide to buy it. Also, I assume you have the 14 day return option, right?

Except I'd take a G3 over a M8 any day.

Well I never pulled the trigger on the M8 so maybe I will prefer the G3.

I don't think I have the option to return it. I'm already having problems getting it to read video files from the SD card. The video keeps juddering. The SD card is fine because it works in my note 3.

I've still got my note 3 anyway.

I played with it in store for about 10 minutes but I'd watched lots of videos and read reviews since it was launched. I like the phone so far, just upset that it's not playing the videos on my SD card properly. I've tried different players and it's the same thing.

Try a SD card that was not used by another device.....

I think the screen or the overheating are no longer the problem.

Right now what I'm more worried about is the battery life, which is not that great from what I'm seeing on other forums.

Is the only thing keeping me from buying it right now.

It seems to playing videos from the SD card now without any stuttering. I think the phone was a bit too hot earlier because all my apps were downloading and charging.

That's one good thing then.

What what I have read.....some of those reporting battery issues were US people that bought the international or Korean model. Then it tries to get a signal all the time for 4G. So the radio was eating up a ton of battery.
I am curious to see if the US models will get better battery because the ESN/IMEI numbers are provisioned in the carrier systems already? So it gets a signal faster because it is provisioned for the network cell towers. Just a thought.....

I meant good that the problem wasn't persisting.

Not sure if I'll keep the phone though. I might give it to my boyfriend. To be fair I haven't used it much but I think I prefer my note 3. Something about it just isn't sitting right with me at the moment.

Deal breaker for me would be the display inclusive of not being bright enough which would cause battery drain if I need to crank it, the contrast, what extent is oversaturation, sharpening, and did LG need to make this greater than 1080p and with any drawbacks really in doing so.

Like I stated earlier that it's all in the display for me foremost, you know the think we all look at constantly. :)

Indoors the brightness is OK, although I'm having to have it quite a bit higher than on my note 3 as it's dimer. Outside I'll probably need to have it higher still. That makes me a bit concerned about how that will impact on battery life. Also I'm not liking the LCD panel that much. I think I've gotten used to amoled too much. The colour representation is good on the LG and when you put the Note 3 next to it it highlights just how inaccurate colours are on the amoled display, however despite all that I still prefer the amoled display.

I'll know in a few hours if the display turns me off when I get to an AT&T store. I like the G2 after checking it out more the last few days but I doubt I'd go for it over the G3 as I have enough second, third and fourth devices already and I rather move upwards.

If the G3 does not pan out, I'll upgrade my Nokia 521 which I probably should do regardless instead of getting yet another Android. But if I cannot resist the G3, well the Windows phone upgrade will have to wait.

Great....report back and lets us know what you think! I am really on the fence about the G3. the reviews and first hand reports seem to be all over the place on this phone.......

Well I ended up walking out with one for $579. :)

Why? Well there is the return policy and I liked it enough to want to put it through its paces.

First off I had access to Google Play so I sent it on its way updating all the apps. I had the screen on 100% brightness, browsed, multitasked, played YouTube videos and listened to music. No overheat warning!

The screen will be dependent on one's preference. It is not as bright as the G2 for sure but I have it at 80% now any I can live with it. Others probably will be turned off about that because it may be a concession versus a preference.

No color oversaturation as far as I am concerned. The color on the S5 is way overblown in comparison. Some sharpening occurring but I'm ok with it.

More later. I am pleased with it so far, I think overheating could be dismissed to tell the truth (fingers crossed).

Almost forgot. Ram sits at 1.3 used, 1.5 available. And this baby is fast. Lag? None I have noticed.

Great Congrats on the phone! Thanks for the update on the reported issues.
When you get a chance :p Can you test the camera?

I'm not much of a camera guy. Think I've taken two snaps with my S5 since I got it.

Maybe here on xda you can tell some about the quality:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2798877

I charged from 25% to full in 1 1/2 hours. I did not use the stock charger but a Rocketfish I bought from BB back when that is 10 volts.

After full charge, I did not use the G3 at all for 1 hour and it was still completely full. I will see what happens overnight.

This device may not be the holy grail totally for those who don't mind a large screen size but its form factor is fantastic. So comfortable to hold and use and the weight is negligible to me personally considering its size. The bezel is basically non existent, I still and even moreso now loath the M8 for its size and weight.
