Switching from Dalvik to ART in Developer options made home screen swiping much smoother in Nova Launcher. Highly recommend it.
Anyone have any good case recommendations? Currently using the Spigen Slim Armor, and while it looks nice and obviously is protective, its quite bulky. And I miss seeing the G3's Brushed metal back.
I am using the Quick Circle. For recs, check xda forum for G3 accessories.
I am using ART as well. No update for my AT&T variant as I check periodically.
Art cause a host of problems on my att lg 3. Facebook and Spotify won't work, and it lags. Weird...
Anyway, I bought this phone yesterday, with the intention of selling my iPhone 5s , and keeping this phone until about the time you new iPhone comes out. I have a 30 day return policy with Best Buy, since I bought so much from them in the last year. I was / am very excited for the iPhone 6. I honestly planned on upgrading to the iPhone 6 or the new Nexus. maybe even the note four or moto x2. It appears this phone won't make that choice easy. I am loving this phone so far.... Way more than I expected. Its sleek and powerful. I enjoy it much more than the galaxy s5 I owned for a couple weeks.
Are you sure it's the ART on the LG G3.
Facebook had (I think big version update a few days ago) and I didn't have any battery problems on the LG G3 until I installed the facebook update.
Than after I installed it yesterday (or day before). I noticed my battery draining at 10% per hour and getting very hot. (I've disabled push notification, all sorts of things on facebook and on my phone).
I didn't even touch the phone. It was in my shirt pocket in the operating room and I felt how warm it got.
I got suspicious and downgraded the facebook app to the factory version that was installed on the ATT LG G3 version
Now my battery is back at normal.
That's the issue with Android. A lot of times people blame the hardware/phone itself. But most of the times, it's faulty software (in this case facebook app) that cause my battery drain.
If I needed to I can simply just go to facebook mobile website on the phone browser. No big deal for me since Facebook can't get it correct right now with this new version on Android.
You might be right. Noticed it on Spotify to though. Could be an app specific thing... But Spotify is a must for me.
I have both.
Strange when I first got the G3, I noticed the lag right away but after a day and customizing, running Nova Prime it disappeared? Who knows.
No issue with GMail & Notifications either.
As for brightness, I love Samsung's Super AMOLED it has a slight edge but I'm okay with the G3's display outside.
The one massive problem I'm having is the headphones/Aux input thing.
It's ridiculous that it just doesn't pick up aux inputs or headphones half the time.
It's a known problem too so I'm praying that LG can sort it out with a fix. If not, this could be awkward long-term.
If anyone is looking for a nice screen protector, I recommend the tech armor ballistic one. A bit pricy but perfect clarity, decently easy installation (tip: install it in a bathroom with the shower on at max temperature, the heat will trapmdust particles), and excellent feel. I actually prefer it to the feel of the screen without it. Can't attest to scratch resistance but it is advertised as being great.
I screwed up the installation with my first one, but tech armor was nice enough to send me a new one for free.
Does anyone have information if/when the G3 will get Android L?
I heard of others that had similar issues with the headphone jack. Apparently some units have some oil/residue in the jack. Try inserting the headphone, pulling them out, and wipe the plug carefully. Do that a couple of times to get rid of the oil (or whatever it is). That seems to solve it for a lot of people.
There are even more problems with it, go over a bump in the road and the whole thing distorts. It's pretty poor tbh.
But the headphone insertion problem is gradually dying down, maybe it was the oil thing.
Otherwise gotta say I am really liking this G3. Very good phone. Camera is lovely too.
It's probably that, sounds exactly like the problems people with residue get. Personally I haven't had any problems with that, or bumps. I can easilly keep the phone in my pocket with headphones connected to it while running - the phone jumps around a lot for an hour straight with no issues what so ever with sound / connectivity.
But yes, I agree - it's a very nice phone. My girlfriend is seriously considering one too, she's very jealous of the camera (and has an instagram-addiction)
Yeah my missus is asking about the smaller 5" one too!!
I saw that the Mini version will only get 8 MP camera (instead of 13 on the G3). Also a single-led flash instead of dual led. OIS and laser focus is apparently still there on the Mini. Not sure how big of an impact this has on the photo quality, but worth checking out before buying.
