There is no "silver sports watch collection." There is a sports watch collection.

Yes, but the new band must be an available band option for the watch face (see post #13). The Space Gray Sport band isn't an available band option for the silver Sport face so the OP won't be able to swap out for the black band.

That's what I was going to say. The black sports band is not a standard option with the silver aluminium watch so I doubt Apple will allow swapping for that particular band. Plus the black band that comes with the space grey sport model had a space grey pin. The one with the silver pin is sold with the stainless steel model which is a different model altogether.

I don't see having black band exchanged as a problem

There is a black band with a silver pin in the sport collection so it shouldn't be an issue.

I stopped at a store a while ago and they said no to swapping for the black band. Have to buy it.

No, that's for the stainless steel collection. The black band in the Sport collection has the pin in Space Gray, but you won't be able to swap it to the silver Sport face as it's not an available band option for that face.

Has anyone tried the band swap?

I heard that apple will swap a band in the same family? Has anyone tried this? I would like to swap my classic buckle for the link and would gladly pay the extra charge just not sure if they would do this...

As long as it's not the black link you should be able to do it. Not a lot of members here have received their watches yet too. I'm pretty sure it's as simple as walking into a store and requesting a band swap. They'll then contact the online store and have them send you the new band and you'll send in the old one back.

Thanks for the reply. I will try it and let the forum know what they say. I have a separate order for the link, but if they can do it this way I can just go with a sport band for working out and link for everyday use. Don't really need the third band.

Honestly you might be better off waiting. There hasn't been any reports indicating that the replacement bands are from a separate batch than customer stock so by the time your exchanged band comes in, the link you ordered might be sent.

Works great. I got one with a classic buckle and wanted the link. Did it over chat. (My space black one is for special occasions and still on its way).

They set up the band exchange over the chat, verified my name and billing - really pleasant too.

Edit: See pictures.

When can we start swapping? Want to exchange my blue for white.

I called Apple and arranged a swap today.
I tried in the store but the told me I had to call.
Dont know when the new one will arrive - they quoted standard lead-times from the website.
They said they would charge me for the new strap when it is despatched, then refund me when they got the old one back

Can anyone that has successfully arranged a swap to the black sports band (with the silver Sport watch) explain how? I tried yesterday, got the runaround, and eventually struck out.

I have a more pressing need question...
Can space grey black bands be swapped considering there was No other color choice?

A few reps also said that the Sport comes with two full bands. I have no idea why you continue to believe them.

Ok then how exactly does the store track a return of a band for another? The returned band has no SKU because the SKU is for the Apple watch + band combo no?

Watch Band Swap Nightmare

Let me just tell everyone, I got got off the phone with apple for over 2 hours working on the watch band swap.

I wanted to swap my classic buckle for link bracelet, easy enough? Well lets just say its a confusing time for the apple reps today.

They let me do the exchange and pay the extra cost difference. I noticed after they were done, my order was for $1308. I was like, WTF? They are sending me a whole new classic buckle watch just like my original AND a link bracelet, then I have to return either watch, plus both leather bands, then I can keep one watch and the link bracelet, huh?

Also, they said I have to have my original band returned by 5/9 since thats the 14 day return window.

I called back and asked them if I could extend the return date since I won't receive the new band by then, but they said this is the only way to do (shortened version after they spoke to managers).

So they want me to return the band and carry around a pocket watch until I receive the new band and watch, which I am still not sure why they are sending another watch. Why wouldn't they just send me a link bracelet watch, and I could return the classic buckle watch, even swap plus cost difference, if thats how they had to do it.

I am probably just going to to cancel the whole thing and keep my separate link bracelet order I already had, plus the classic buckle band. Wont kill me to have an extra band.

UGH!! If you're confused by reading this, thats makes two of us.
