This is solely because supply is so limited, that they have little actual goods to work with. I'd sit tight a few weeks and when stock is suitably on hand, this process won't seem so crazy.

They should have just created a new order for the new band. Then when the new band arrives you mail back the one you don't want. They will credit the difference.

I wouldn't be surprised if you could also return ANY band with ANY band order within 14 days. They would just credit the difference.

This is most likely the case. Once they have ample supply, they'll do it as advertised (sending you a new band and a box to return the old band).

yes i agree, but still confused on why send a new watch with the same buckle I am returning.

I am going to cancel the swap and try again on 5/7, right before the 14 day window closes and see what they say then. Give them time to figure this out. I think I was literally the first one to try this.

Most likely this is a training issue. I called the other day to apply a GC to a pending order and I had to tell the guy how to do it.

Let me just tell everyone, I got got off the phone with apple for over 2 hours working on the watch band swap.

I wanted to swap my classic buckle for link bracelet, easy enough? Well lets just say its a confusing time for the apple reps today.

They let me do the exchange and pay the extra cost difference. I noticed after they were done, my order was for $1308. I was like, WTF? They are sending me a whole new classic buckle watch just like my original AND a link bracelet, then I have to return either watch, plus both leather bands, then I can keep one watch and the link bracelet, huh?

Also, they said I have to have my original band returned by 5/9 since thats the 14 day return window.

I called back and asked them if I could extend the return date since I won't receive the new band by then, but they said this is the only way to do (shortened version after they spoke to managers).

So they want me to return the band and carry around a pocket watch until I receive the new band and watch, which I am still not sure why they are sending another watch. Why wouldn't they just send me a link bracelet watch, and I could return the classic buckle watch, even swap plus cost difference, if thats how they had to do it.

I am probably just going to to cancel the whole thing and keep my separate link bracelet order I already had, plus the classic buckle band. Wont kill me to have an extra band.

UGH!! If you're confused by reading this, thats makes two of us.

Did you order the classic buckle because it was in the first wave with the intention of swapping the band?

What is Apple policy for band swap? I ordered SS WSB and prefer BSB. Can i go into Apple Store and swap band?

Exchanging White Sport Band at Apple Stores

Hi. I know there was a huge thread regarding the topic of exchanging bands at Apple Stores. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find it again. Could someone please link it here?

Or, does anyone know if it's possible to exchange the white sports band that came with a Apple Watch Sport for a black sport band (I know that theoretically Apple doesn't allow this, but oftentimes Apple is quite lenient)? What about exchanging a white sport band that came with a SS Watch? Thanks

Apple Band Exchange Program

So apple has this band exchange program which is great... well unless you ordered your watch using a Gift Card.... I just called to exchange my white band I swore I ordered the 42mm stainless steel with black sports band well I guess I accidentally ordered with white. So called to get the black... But lady tells me since I ordered using a Gift Card I am not eligible for the Band Exchange Program.

The default must be to use the same card you ordered with to charge for the replacement band?

They will likely throw out Paypal users too since Apple wouldn't be able to authorize an extra charge directly with them. They would have to send you to a webpage.

Apple Band Exchange Program Details?

I ordered the 38MM Stainless Steel with Classic Leather Buckle. I really am not a fan and would like to get the Milanese Loop.

Question is, the Milanese Loop is back-ordered until May. By calling and doing the exchange program, will I receive my Milanese Loop faster or will it ship at the same time as if I just ordered it through the online store?

Reason I ask, is if it the same time then I will just keep the classic buckle and order the Milanese Loop. If it will ship faster, I will do the exchange and buy the classic leather buckle if I decide I want one, one they are readily available.

I think this got lost since I posted it so late last night. Anyone know about the swapping situation?

A Alexandra from Apple Online Store Executive Relations just called me and pretty much told me I'm SOL that only option is to return the entire watch place a new order and wait until July.

Any updates on band swap policy? I think I want to swap my Milanese for a leather loop.

I am confused about that too. If it were me, I'd call back and ask to speak with a supervisor.
