I have a 38mm SS Classic bought from craigslist.

I called 4/24/15 approx 7pm PST. I did not want to mess up the swap by getting it dirty if that was not allowed etc., The request for a band swap took roughly 30 minutes. He did have to confer with others. His offer was let me charge the account (of the craigslister) and send you the milanese (shipping in May) to the address on record. Once you receive we will have you send the old one back. Said I could use the band just do not ruing it. Unfortunately I could not allow him to charge the CL'er. I specifically asked if he could charge me or change the address and he said he could not. So I cancelled the request and when or if the store gets bands in I will try there. He did say any questions have the store call the customer service line and they will clarify to them the policy.

Has anyone exchanged band colors in store?

So, from what I'm reading, the blue band is the one that will get the least shipping time (supposedly). What I really wanted was the white.

I've read rumors that if you take it to an Apple Store, they will exchange the band to the band if your choice rather than returning the entire watch.

Is this true? Has anyone actually done this?
Thanks.

Oh, I see. Thanks for the info. I didn't know they were handling these types of exchanges via online.
But, it can be (and has been) done?

From what I've read

You go into store and explain the situation with the retail store staff. They confirm the situation with the online support and they arrange a band order for the new colour you like and you have to send the first colour back BEFORE you get the second one from what I've read on here.

In the UK they are changing my band like this. I called the sales support line to set this up.

1. Sales support raised an online order for my replacement band
2. When the band is available I will be charged
3. Courier will deliver replacement band, and collect the one I am returning IN THE SAME VISIT
4. When Apple get my original band back they will refund me.

Here was my experience as of a few minutes ago.
The exchange must be initiated within 14 days of the delivery of your watch. At which time you contact apple, I did the store chat, and request to initiate a band exchange. They then look up your order to confirm the watch and ask which one you'd like to exchange it with. They will create an order for the new band, and charge you for that replacement band when it ships, and then refund your money when the original band is returned to them. I went as far as clarify that some bands aren't shipping till June and that the band would be worn for that entire length of time and would not be sent back to them in new condition. They said it didn't matter and that you would not be deducted for wear and tear of the band. However, this all must be initiated within this 14 day window after you take delivery of your watch.

Some of them must have worked out the process. This is my experience.

I received a 42mm SS Classic Buckle on the 24th. From the weekend I realized I can't get it comfortable on my wrist and have to keep changing between holes. The last three holes since I have a big wrist. I had never tried the Milanese Loop because my wrist is 230mm and the ML reportedly goes up to 200mm. Well, after getting my watch I tried the ML and found it does fit!

I called up Apple sales and told him my story and when I got to the end requesting a new strap he said, 'I was just about to suggested that.' I said I felt a little bad for having chosen poorly and he said, 'don't worry, you're entitled to swap it'. Well, Ok then.

On Monday 27th, he ordered me a ML ('Delivers June') but told me I would have to return the Classic Buckle by May 11th (14 days) and they would not ship the ML until they got the refund.

Small lies obviously because, my ML shipped yesterday Thru 29th and should deliver Monday 4th May. In the mean time my Classic Buckle is sitting in the mail room at work waiting for pick up. The charged me for the ML on shipping and I'll get the CB refund a few days after the receive it. I wanted to keep wearing it but they had told me the already booked the courier to pick it up. So yeah, a pocket watch for a few days.

PS: The fact that they must have had some ML available for swapping would be exactly why Apple staff got the instruction: You must not use this replacement service as a way of configuring a watch for customers. I'm well aware and sorry for those who ordered a watch with a ML and it hasn't shipped yet.

I think this is all being arranged based upon the original order. They mention that it needs to be purchased from the Online Store or through the app. Being that you purchased it via Craigslist, it probably doesn't qualify.

Exchanging Bands

Has anyone tried exchanging the band their watch came with? I'm thinking of swapping my classic buckle for a sport, but wondering what the process is like.

Will I get money back?

You do it online. You get charged for the new band, then they credit you when they receive your old one.

Next time, please search/read before posting a new thread. This has been discussed MANY times!!

You need to calm down. What's the big deal if I start a thread.

OH NO! Duplicate topic!

I just did a band swap over the phone. They ship you new band and you ship the old one back. There will be a charge on your CC that will be refunded once the old band is received.

Did they tell you how long it would take to get the new band?

You're not supposed to duplicate topics.

Ok well there are about 50 topics about shipping dates. Why not go bother them.

The band I wanted is June. They base the estimates on the ship date of the online store.

Can I swap my watch band?

I read somewhere if were unhappy with our band we can go exchange it at the Apple Store without having to change the entire watch. Is that true?

Only if the band is available in the same family as the one you bought. So, for example, you can trade a white sport band for a blue sport band. But you can't swap a white sport band for a black one because the black one is only available on the space gray.

Hmm, there are two different black bands to order though, one with silver and one with space gray pin.

Since the only ones who can swap for a black band are stainless steel white band owners, I'd imagine that would since the silver one. The space gray pin for for the Sport watches.

I also initiated an exchange. The new band is scheduled to ship in June but the CSR told me to return my existing band in 14 days. She didn't have a good answer when I asked about this. Any idea?

I know about the difference of the two black bands. But what I posted from you again sounds like a contradiction. How do you know it isn't possible?

Have you asked anyone at Apple? Just curious.

Yes. I called Apple 2 days ago to exchange my Milanese Loop for a Black Sport Band. You don't have to return the entire watch.
