Hmm maybe your right but bare in mind i will be getting this phone on a 24 month contract so i will have the phone for two years....

but dont you know the feeling when you get a phone, and then like 4 months later a new one comes out and your behind...i know phones come out all the time but the htc one has been out for a while and i will be having the phone for two years as i cant afford to keep buying phones lol.

i know it sounds petty but do you get what i mean?

----------

what sort of things do you need to turn off when you get the phone to save battery? i will be coming from an iphone so im not that familiar with android...

also what apps are good for saving battery or what ever?

I went into Settings, Apps, and then All Apps. There are MANY more apps there than I expected, and they all have a notification option. I have no idea how much battery I'm saving by turning them off, but that suggested on more than one site. I guess I can stream Pandora tonight, and see how much my battery drops. That would be a bit more scientific. ;)

I really hate that GPS is not included in the toggles (seriously this was the most important thing, it takes 4 steps to turn on GPS as is)

The phone seems slightly faster

I love the battery percentage indicator

Twitter is no longer working for me in Blinkfeed

Google Music Player now shows up in full in the notification menu (like how the stock player does)

Youtube notifications? I didn't get these before

Just picked up the HTC One today and I love it! Came from the S2 Skyrocket. Tried out the S4 but the lag bothered me. I love the One's screen compared to the S4 in terms of brightness. The whites are better and auto brightness works better on the One too. I also love the speakers, Sense 5, battery life, build quality and the smoothness.

One little issue I have with the Zoe Gallery is it tends to have a bit of lag or frame rate stutter on some of the 30-sec previews.

I usuay prefer the Polaris theme because none of the video gets filtered into a diff color although I prefer Avalon with the zooming and slow motion for more dramatic effect on still shots. I thought the Zoe Gallery slight stutter was because I had too many files on the videos folder. The lag seems to be the resolution of many of my older vids at VGA or QVGA res.

I deleted like 200+ videos and kept mostly 1080p videos and one 720p video. Now the Zoe Gallery video previews are smooth. Just too bad I dont have too many 1080p videos converted using YouTube Downloader program. I have about 15 but only using 10. Not many videos on YouTube are uploaded at 1080p yet. I would like to have more to showoff the clarity of the phone's screen.

Good news is my GB avail went from 1.97 to 11.49 GB. Everything feels much faster now.

4.3

My Verizon HTC ONE just got the 4.3 update today. I don't see any major difference, but that's good because I was happy with 4.2 :)
EDIT: I accidentally hit that angry face in topic line, but I'm not angry....LOL!

You know your carrier sucks when Verizon releases an android up before you. Thanks At&t.

Hmmmm...,I just looked at my settings, and it says 4.2.2  I had a large software message appear on my screen at 11am, and it said it was installing an update, which I assumed was 4.3. The message said the phone would be inoperative for 8 minutes, and I watched as the progress bar webt through apps, etc. The phone even rebooted, so I dunno......

Verizon won't see the 4.3 update until the end of October. You got the carrier update.

Yea this is a carrier update. I thought for sure At&t had lost it. Letting Verizon get update before they did. That never happens, and I would be really mad if it did. I am already not happy they never released 4.2.2 for mine.

My wife returned her iPhone 5s Friday night (motion sensor issue), and bought the HTC ONE. She couldn't be more happy, and was blasting away with the camera at a nearby tourist town. She used the HTC Share feature to send her slideshow to Facebook, and then was really excited. :D We visited the same town last weekend, but she didn't take very many pics with her 5s. The Zoe function is what really has her going.

Anyone have any suggestions for a good sms spp with quick reply? I tried chomp sms and go pro sms but none offer the ability to show the unread count on the lock screen?

you would choose a ONE over a S4?

I don't like the Samsung's physical home button at all (hated it on the Note 8); aluminum looks and feels better than flimsy plastic; can't stand over thetop Touchwiz; humps belong on camels, not cameras; HTC's One is the most appealing smartphone I found. ;)

Handcent is a great one.

It shows above the lock screen with quick reply capability. One of my favorite features of an Android device for the quick reply.

Try Textra...it's by FAR the best & fastest SMS/MMS app for Android. Chomp & Go SMS both pale in comparison.

Handcent is better than Textra for me as I didnt like the feel and look of Textra but liked the customization of Handcent.

But thats whats great about options, we have em!:D

Looks like HTC is still plugging away, leaked images of Sense 5.5.

Includes:
- ability to turn off Blinkfeed as well as new content options
- customizing of Quick toggles
- slight tweak to task switcher (though still no 'close all' option--why is this so difficult to include??)
- new camera features (Panorama+ and Dual Capture)
- slight keyboard changes

No idea when this may be deployed. Glad to see they haven't thrown in the towel just yet.

Go HTC. That would be a great update. Hopefully with 4.4 later in the year, early next.
