I like it ! And I'm very far from being a teen .
Can any one confirm that the keyboard will be bilingual like Swiftkey ? I think I heard it but it might have been wishful thinking ...

Do you get paid to talk trash about Apple? Because a sane person would leave the platform they are not happy with for another that better suits their needs.

I get paid, thats enough for me..
pls feel free to enlighten the masses (or at least me) as to the positives from imsgs changes.

Messaging is more fun,m that's a positive. Apps bring the ability to do new things that you couldn't do prior, that's a positive.

Just add a feature to only allow basic texts and I'm happy others can go crazy to those that want to.
Easy option switch in preferances. What about people on limited bandwidth tariffs?

I guess you're in the dark. Messages apps in China let you pay for things or send money to someone. Emoji apps are blowing up on the appstore. Google iOS keyboard displays search results in the keyboard.

Apple is pulling all this into the native messages app and you don't see any positive?

More emoji's - ground breaking.
Apple copies google again and all of a sudden its the best thing since the last great thing that wasn't really great?

They've taken a lot of cues from Facebook Messenger - I expect that a lot of folks on the forum here won't be interested in the new features, but it will help developers by attracting a wider audience (back) to iOS. I personally am going to use a fraction of the full potential in iMessage, but as a developer I'm excited that Apple is stuffing features in that all kinds of people will be interested in because it means there is a stronger likelihood they will have a chance to interact with my app.

Exactly. Some people just don't seem to understand that.

Yeah, great plan.

You can use iMessage without using the new things. Normal iMessage will still work.

To some people, it is only positive if it positively affects them personally.

Would've loved the rumoured payments via iMessage and Android app... Oh well, Gurman warned it was rumored, not a given. Maybe iOS 10.1 or next year.

Apple is turning iMessage into a pre-K app for 4yr olds and under. Next new feature will be finger painting within the app. And don't forget those stickers!
Seems like a lot of the more typical users enjoy that type of thing given how popular it is in various other messenger applications, so it seems to sort of make sense to provide things that more people seem to be interested in, and as long as they are all optional, then what's the issue really?

Anyone else NOT a fan of all the crap they're shoving into iMessage? It looks freaking terrible and possibly really annoying depending on who your contacts are.

Was really hoping for iMessage on iCloud (like WhatsApp Web) and Apple Pay within Messages, but not this..
I think maybe we are just getting old. Their iMessage app is following what a lot of popular third party Apps are doing

Seems like everyone hates change. I'm sure after you use the iOS for a decent amount of time and get used to it, you won't be complaining
To be fair, nothing really showing that everyone hates the changes, in fact it's likely quite a bit the opposite of that. And that's not to mention that all those things are simply optional additions that could be used, while messaging can still remain pretty much the way it is right now for those who don't want to use those things.

It just looks crammed and very child-like. Something I'd expect BlackBerry to put out into their BBM product.

The rest of iOS 10 looks promising, but this one aspect, which I use 90% of my phone for, I am not a fan of.
Maybe that's the point of iOS 10: children and the East. I dont know for sure, but I would bet that this kind of messaging is popular in the East.
[doublepost=1465859045][/doublepost]All I remember from the speech is all the messaging improvements....

Looking forward to the best messaging device Apple has ever released in the Fall :D

Kidding kidding. There's some great stuff in there but I REALLY hope that the stuff on the lock screen is accessible for those who don't have a 6s.

where hip is spoken
Apple made it a part of the OS in a keynote and he's gone all grumpy old man who wants the kids off his lawn.
Well, that's my lawn too! :p

I wonder how much of the flack that is given about iMessage a result of frustration with the lack of other hoped for/anticipated enhancements for iOS? I have a sense that if Apple had announced dark mode, iOS Finder, and a few other asked-for things, everyone would be high-fiving the iMessage enhancements.

Everything added to iMessage would be so appealing to me if I was a teenage girl. As a grown man, i hate all of it.
Clearly it's just teenage girls using all those types of things on all kinds of other messaging services/apps. Somehow there are so many of them in the world.

I'm not particularly impressed with iOS 10 at all... Seems like the least impressive version... Has some cool stuff but none of the key features that anyone wants... No customizable control center, no dark mode, no hiding apps, no peer-to-peer Apple Pay... Pretty much any cool rumor that existed is not true
Everything you wanted isn't necessarily what everyone else wants.

Clearly it's just teenage girls using all those types of things on all kinds of other messaging services/apps. Somehow there are so many of them in the world.

Yep, only teenage girls use Messenger, Line, WhatsApp. And now everyone who uses iMessage will be forced to use these features or else their phone will stop working. /s

Customizable control center and dark mode are the two most requested features... So apparently they are... They did add dark mode to APPLE TV
