I've been waiting two years for Mac Mini upgrade with decent graphics. Passed on the 2012 because of that and stayed mostly content with my middle of the lineup 2011 2-core. I really don't expect a 2014 Mini now so time to give up waiting.

I found a gently used 2013 6-core Mac Pro for a decent price - it is about 7 times faster and much quieter running Handbrake. A Mac Pro is much much more than what I really need but it is a really great update to my old Mini.

I thought about that also but realy couldnt justify the 3k for dual d300 and xeon. However i find it an amazing computer. Enjoy!

okay, I enabled the update

My BTO 2.6 quad-core mini arrived yesterday. Apple, you may now proceed with the update.

I highly doubt it. I believe the reason the Mac Mini has not been updated is because Apple is waiting on Broadwell. Had Broadwell been released without delay, it would have arrived in time for a Mini update in mid-2014--just like the leaked screenshot. I can only see Apple going to ARM if they decide to transition the entire line of Macs, and I don't think they have parity with Intel on ARM CPU design, yet.

Okay......Mac mini is coming out in a few days as a silent upgrade.

Don't expect TOO much. Latest haswell, integrated iris graphic (yea!), graphic 5000 card, etc.

base 1tb HD for all models, and base ram is now at least 8gb ram.

all as expected more OR less.

The REAL newsworthy change, in all of this, is a price cut of $100 across the board...mostly because the haswell upgrade, awesome as it is for a mini, is still antiquated compared to what is coming in the pipeline.

this is meant to help highlight the arrival of Yosemite, a computer release of some sort. For all those saying that the delay was because of the new chipsets being delayed are wrong. This was the plan all along, despite whether those chips were available or not. It just changed from a more official sounding release to a silent one now.

This will be the last upgrade of its kind BEFORE a major revision/re-design, to milk the product line for what it is worth.

I know, know.... how can WE trust you, right? ;-) I have it on GOOD authority....'ME.' If I said who ME was, I'd lose my job.

But this is a 100% guarantee. Take it with a grain of salt, but I do a very good motive for this:

I would hate to be THAT GUY who bought a mac mini from a best buy or elsewhere with a stingy return policy for him to find out THE HARD WAY this upcoming eminent release.

So I did my part for the sake of karma. Peace out folks.

5000 is "Intel HD," right? "Iris" is 5100.

Will it have 802.11ac wi-fi?

I'd be surprised to see a $100 price reduction, but I'd take it.

This sounds about right. I pray for PCIe SSD. I am thinking you might actually know what you are talking about :)

A grain of salt?? Or a tab of acid?

You probably mean imminent. But if they do finally come, that would be an eminent release.

Exhausted to expect since one year the new MM, I bought there is 15 days the current one (4 Go, 1 To HD). I have make the home upgrade today : crucial 16Go & SSD M550 SSD.
It is to replace a brave and noisy MP (early 2008, bi-proc, 8 cores). I see some smiles...

I propose to you the result of the tests carried out on my macs. That could interested somebody.

Geekbench 3.1.6, 32 bits :
MP (early 2008) : single-core score 1649 / multi-core score 11237
MBA (mid 2011, 2core i7-2677M) : s-c 2268 / m-c 4401
MM (late 2012, 4core i7-3720QM) : s-c 2878 / m-c 11292

I am very pleased of this purchase and I wish good courage with all those which continue to wait : the new Mac mini is almost certainly coming.
I am now relieved. :)

In a few days? that doesn't make sense at all...why would they refresh a product during the iPhone announcement week?....

Next month would with the release of Yosmite would make more sense...

CNET had a piece of what may or may not get updated and the mini was the star, as well as a possible new HD monitor :)

I'll take one of the former and two of the latter.

Actual real info is beginning to flow. One thing we know for sure... Apple can keep a secret. Which is very rare indeed.

Almost as rare as an updated mini :)

If it does happen you can thank me for it, mine just shipped. I waited for my old one to finally croak and then bought.

I shall be a little ticked off a better spec mini comes out and it's cheaper, decide whether to do the whole return/restock/repurchase thing at that point however, no point speculating now.

Just one question; when do you think the new design will come?

If it turns out as a thinner, smaller, lighter device with lost ports and upgradability , i will prefer the currrent one or a pc. Waiting in ecitement though as your post gave me motivation and hope.

Some news about Broadwell Y:
http://hothardware.com/Reviews/Intel-Core-M-Broadwell-Speeds-Feeds-And-Performance/?page=1

Apparently they are calling the IGPU "HD Graphics 5300" for this one. I tend to think we have to wait for Broadwell U for the Mini, but this might be a viable option if their plan is to annoy us with a growing gap between the Mac Pro and the Mac Mini...

That being said, the idea of a fanless Mac Mini is appealing to me. But that doesn't require 4.5W TDP, it can be done at 15W too if Apple wants.

Hope it's BROADWELL

Intel Core-M aka as Broadwell will be coming out by October, I hope that this loooooooooooooooooooooong wait for the upgrade will be a fruitful one:).

I hope the parts will all be upgraded including the Graphic Card specially the Processor (skip Haswell please) into Broadwell chips. :apple:

I was castigated in this forum just posting a rumor mill from some website. May we know what is your source for this? Thanks :D

Scottsjack was responding to the question about the HP, not the upcoming mini refresh (optimism intentionally included). That being said, the inside man pleiades7 just joined so difficult to judge; maybe it is Tim himself?

Cheers

It would be just like Apple to make us use Haswell for 2 years to use up leftover processors while everyone else is using Broadwell.

Being Delusional

3 days to go before the WDCC, I remember the :apple: Mac Pro 2nd Gen was announced around June before it was released in the market by December.

Do you expecting for any announcement or hint on MacMini for the forthcoming event? What is your say on this.

Just being delusional ;)

this thread is hilarious i see post i made in this thread about every 20 so pages with the utmost confidence that the mac mini is getting released very soon lol

id buy only if its still has the two sata ports for user replaceable drives because i got a pair of ssds in a box doing nothing and id want em in a mini system.. dual thunderbolt 2 ports...3 would be a godsend. the ram im not so worried about but user replaceable would be better.

the cpu id opt in for the quad core 4XXXM cpu but maybe not since i have a mac pro
