I see, yes if they make a serious Mac mini (see skull canyon NUC kind of power) I'll be first in line. I want a quad core i7 with SSD and minimum 16gb ram (32 would be better) because I keep my macs for around 8 years.

32GB. And I would kill for PCIe 4x NVMe replaceable gumstick SSD. I dream, I know. And dual 4k monitors. Or three. At 60hz.

And cool the hell out of it so it is silent. THAT would be a near perfect PC FOR SURE!

That would be amazing but I will be content to get one 4K monitor at 60hz.

Aha, Ars Technica does the same comparison that Tom's Guide makes, but reads the correct result out of it:

Guess I won't be ditching my 980 ti for Iris Pro.

Here's something I wonder about: what is the difference between a "small" computer and a "small form factor" computer?

Also, the new mac mini is almost certainly coming.

I do also believe that the new Mac mini is almost certainly coming. But... could you please tell us exactly WHEN it is almost certainly coming? That would be really handy to know. I think for almost sure that it is coming on June 13th.

I will agree that it is almost certainly coming on June 13th. If we all agree, Apple will have to comply. If not, we shall pound them into a small form factor.

Good question! The SFF Wiki page admits to some confusion on the definition:

A small form factor (SFF) is a computer form factor designed to minimize the volume of a desktop computer.
...
Small form factors do not include computing devices that have traditionally been small, such as embedded or mobile systems. However, "small form factor" lacks a normative definition and is consequently open to interpretation and misuse. Manufacturers often provide definitions that serve the interests of their products.

I kinda like the "smaller than a micro-ATX-based PC" rule, but even that is not really definitive, I suppose...

Good info. Another thing I of course wonder about, is the difference between a "small form" computer and a "small form factor" computer. What does the addition of the word "factor" bring to the meaning?
