Right. I didn't consider the sales of the current model. I would, however, like to put in an order for one of those quantum processor models? Should probably outperform Haswell, no?

Waiting for the Quantwell Mini? It might be a while. Quantum processors are great except the problem is that they go into decoherence (all relevant information/data is lost) if you try to use a normal classical method to error check, access or observe the information while it's processing. It's kind of like taking a peek once again at this thread for information about a new Mini before it has been released. Have you checked your qubit today?

It will probably have thermal issues also.

The Quantwell….. now ain't that quaint. It should be capable of simultaneously existing in two states, released and unreleased, on the same Tuesday.

Haha! Released, not released, both released and not released simultaneously.

...but isn't that old technology? I've seen the Haswell Mini capable that here in this forum.

WHAT? Rumors just appeared on new MBAs next Tuesday and nobody posts here that they might slip in revised minis at the same time?

I still feel that the current models are just fine for most people. I bought one a couple months ago (making my 4th mini, and all are in use) and have proposed the purchase of another new one at work, probably a month or two out.

I posted on the Air thing and a lot of people want to know where it is but there isn't a lot of confidence in it apperance.
I'm not very confident anymore either.

I was afraid we might bore the general Apple community with our enthusiasm for the Mini. Fact is the new Air, iPhone, iPad etc is more interesting to the general public and more valuable to Apple. I think we'll get a Mini refresh late 2014 or early 2015, after they've done all the exciting and valuable stuff.

Too late, I just ordered a nMP instead. I doubt the new mini will support more than 16GB and there probably won't a a product between the mini and the nMP other than the iMac. Besides I want 64GB for VMware and I like how quiet the nMP is on the reviews when pushed.

I have envy for your choice. If it wasn't so much over kill for me I would consider one to. Good Luck.

What about all the posts in the nMP forum about "coil whine"? Here's hoping yours is dead quiet.

There is no doubt that a MP is in a different league than a mini. Even my 2010 5,1 3.2GHz quad, HD 5870, 24GB RAM stomps my 2012 mini, 2.3 quad, 16GB RAM.

Both use a Crucial 960GB M500. In both Geekbench 2 & 3 the mini outscores for MP in in real use the MP is snappier, more responsive and (obviously) does multi-core work faster.

By the way:

Why has never had anybody the idea to camp outside an APPLE STORE to protest until the new mini is released?

Well if it's not it will go back and keep going back until I get one that is quiet.

thanks the only reason I decided to go for it was because of the RAM requirements I have for VMware. I could spread the workload across a couple of machines (I'm doing that now), but it just ends up taking too much space and I'm sick of the clutter. So the nMP allows me to consolidate. The only reason I have this choice though is because I work freelance and I can write the purchase off against tax. Otherwise I'd be sticking with a Mac Mini.

I'm mainly interested in 64GB RAM and it been quiet under load.

Pleased to meet you. Hope you guess my name. HINT: My name is Tuesday.

On a more serious note, I was up close and personal with a nMP today and I was very impressed. It is a marvel. And it was drop dead silent. No noise or whine at all.

The PCI SSD was hyper fast.

I certainly do not need this. But if the next mini disappoints, maybe, just maybe, I would at least consider it. Low end, of course.

Nice job Apple!
