I know I have been saying all along no new Mini at WWDC.

I have a feeling there will be new hardware introduced because all the tech reporters are saying no new hardware, only new OS.

I predict a refreshed Mini and IMacs with 2nd gen Haswell's. :)

We should have started a pool a the beginning of the year as to when the mac mini was going to come out.

I agree that there's probably not any new hardware coming out, though would you count a 12" macbook air with retina a "new hardware".

I agree also that there will probably be refreshed mac computers with the updated haswell chips. Hopefully one of those refreshed comps will be a mini.

Something is going to happen at WWDC because Tim said there would be exciting new products all year and the only thing we have seen is a bump to the MBA.

I'm going back on what I said in early post and predict Mac Mini and IMac refresh because Apple can add the Broadwell processor to the 2nd gen Haswell socket next year.

It may not be released until after the conference but within a couple of weeks.

I'm trying to stay positive but it's a struggle. :)

Analysts reported a new Mini is possibly to be expected within a somewhat reasonable time span! With almost fair specs, and maybe with a perhaps fair price.

They are sure that if it will get out, then it will not be free.

Analysts perform Anal-lysis which is what happens when you've got your head in your bottom.

I suppose that the person who started this topic is an analyst?

Analysts report rainbows on ever other tuesday for the next three years.

I was thinking of buying a refurb 2012 mini very soon (next two weeks). Do yall think I should wait now? When is WWDC anyway?

Based on what the OP's trusty observation, forget the refurb in a couple of weeks idea.

Hi,
i work in an Apple Reseller and………

trust me, a new mini is coming next week, or at least we have solid evidence to believe it.

Many here have their trust in Tuesday.

Point worth noting, the original poster hasn't been heard from since shortly after making his prediction known.

I sometimes wonder if these predictions are planned attempts to measure customer potential or to keep hopes alive, by apple or other companies that would benefit from this.

Ah a real cynic.

They do not need this thread here is why:

lets see a 2012 mac mini number 6 on amazon's desktop list

http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Computers-Accessories-Desktop/zgbs/pc/565098

Apple has no need to make a new mini if this is still in the top 10 desktop list on amazon.

BTW it is normally number 1 or 2 so it has slipped a bit.

Still comes back to my idea they want a broadwell with a better gpu/cpu combo to drive the 4k tv's.

They will keep waiting……

You are right i guess. May be just my imagination. However I can still imagine PR teams and analysts doing many stuff like this and collecting data somehow. It seems reasonable.

572 days (almost 573 where I live)...the Mac Mini is just a couple of days away from passing it's previous "record" of days without being updated, which was 574!

More than 1,800 days since I updated my Mac Mini, and about 600 days since I upgraded the RAM….. and still don't give a hoot, but find this thread amusing none the less.

Tomorrow is…...

I was going to comment that a 2 year refresh on a desktop is not unreasonable but not lowering the price on old hardware is.

an apple executive points to number six on amazon's desktop list and they smile as the cash comes in.

the profit they make on these minis is absurd.

I wish I was wrong, but if I can come up with this certainly apple has done the same.

I just purchase an intel i7 4790 cpu I have a r280x gpu. my ht/game setup has the space for this

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/cooler-...P&srccode=cii_45538312&cpncode=26-343099486-2

I have 2 sticks of 8gb ram I have a windows 7 ultimate os I have a 1tb samsung I was holding for the new 2014 mini. I only need buy this

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z97E-ITXac/

and build it this week.

my cost will be 1k absolute killer machine. I have gotten to like windows 7

almost as much as mavericks from apple.

Yep, that sounds like a hot setup and the only thing I have against Win 7 is that is not going to get any new cool stuff in the OS and then how long will MS support it.

Im good with the Mini I have until 4k matures and TVs come down in price.

If Broadwell cracks that nut and then if the Mini gets a fully functional 4k capabilities, I'll get one.

I think that the Broadwell NUC that is suppose to come out in December will tell the capabilities of a 4k processor. I may even take a hard look at it as a HTPC.

So I'll be waiting to see what happens this year with the Mini. :)

If I follow the first link the Mini is at #7. Very strange.

(And Amazon isn't playing its recent annoying 'automatically substitute .com with .co.uk in links' trick to me, either)

Supposedly #3 in the UK, although there's no way in the world that the #1 best seller is this monstrosity.

I can't find anything that says how 'best seller' is calculated for electronics. Presumably there's some sort of weighting, and a Mac Mini sold 571 days ago is not the same as a Mac Mini sold today?

I think it'll be awhile before we see an updated Mini. The current Mini still does a decent job at running OS X. Apple is in no rush to update it because there currently is NO cheaper option if you want a Mac. The demand for the Mini is still strong and their vendors like Amazon continue to sell out of their inventory.

You could be on to something here….. There is not much "affordable" new tech hardware out there that justifies an updated Mac Mini at this stage. It is on the way for sure, but for now……….

A suitably configured current Mini is still meets the needs of many folks (albeit not the desires of a few geeks). For those with more demanding needs there is the Mac Pro…. and for those who say they can't afford it, just learn to live within your means. This thread could well see many more Tuesdays, and hit 2,000 posts before the next generation of Mini evolves.

I don't know about the cost of living generally in other places, but here inflation is running at 7 - 8% a year. The last couple of years have seen the price many things increase a lot (though not our pay….the last "cost of living" rise (in 2007) worked out at about 3.5%).

The current base model Mac Mini has remained priced at 19,000 baht, and it now comes with iWork, at no extra cost. I paid 23,000 baht for my 2009 Mini, plus 5,000 baht for iWork.

The 2005 (that it replaced) cost 26,000, and they "cracked" the pre-installed Mac:Office, so it cost nothing. I didn't understand at the time, but it annoyed me in the end. Replacing a failed HDD would have also meant purchasing a legit copy. Then, with tech having moved on a bit, I decided a new Mini was a better option.

…… Yet folk whinge about the price. If I needed a new Mac Mini now, I would cough up nearly 3 weeks' pay for one tomorrow (Tuesday), and consider it good value.

Probably something simple like a one week moving average. I don't think old sales count much (if at all) because I see new, hot products rise up the charts quickly.

Seen on the rumors page just today:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1735952/

Looks like no Broadwell until fourth quarter this year at the earliest, possibly not until 2015.

What does this mean for the Mini?

In earlier posts, I remarked that Apple -might- have been redesigning the Mini for Haswell, but at some point concluded that Haswell wouldn't constitute enough of an "update", so the designers chose to wait for Broadwell.

But this was -before- the "Broadwell delay" was announced by Intel.

Now, Apple's designers are left a bit in the lurch. Their options are:
1. Put a Mini re-design onto the shelf until Broadwell becomes reality, or...
2. GO BACK to their earlier "Haswell re-design" and try to get that to market.

As others have mentioned, the current Mini sells "well enough", and runs just fine for current OS releases. The longer they postpone a new release, the more they recover their "capital investment" on the late-2012 design. And again, it remains a decent (though not spectacular) seller.

We'll see...
