Historically, there is usually a "redesign tax". I'd be disappointed if its more than £200 above the Intel version, but I'll make the call when I see the specs. Dual ethernet would be lovely assuming LACP is possible, I don't have 10G stuff at home, so dual 1gb would be great.
Ditto. I just want a an entry level M1 Pro Mac (or M2 - whichever comes first). So ideally a sub-£1,400 mini with the 8 core M1 Pro would be good, otherwise I'll just wait until Oct/Nov for the M2 for circa £1,100-200.

I am still set on betting the base model costing less than the base binned 14", provided they are using the same chip. If this cost a bit more then what stops people from getting a base 14" then a TB4 dock to get a similar set of I/Os, and as bonus a miniLED screen + trackpad KB. But of course as you BTO the price should scale much higher, even more than the maxed 16" if dual SoC is really implemented.

I suspect the M2 (non pro/max) will continue occupying the £699 slot for the base config. The M2 is likely to be a small spec bump, so the M1 Pro will remain more performant. I don't imagine the M2 Pro/Max being released until 2023 or very late this year.

I think (hope) you're right. Desktop components tend to be cheaper as they have less constrained power requirements/tolerances. This goes for processors too, the M1 Pro/Max may be binned on power usages as well as functional components, Apple are subject to the same silicon lottery that is present in AMD and Intel chips.

When i was previously expecting the M1 Pro/Max to be in the old or a smaller chassis, and around £500/$600 cheaper than the 14in MBP. Now, I’m less convinced. For example base Mac Pro is awful value but it improves as you spec it out. That may be the case here, in which case I’ll just wait for the M2 as it probably won’t be much more than the M1 mini.

Agreed, or the M2 will be circa £100 more at most, with the M1 remaining or dropping in price slightly. I don’t need mega power in a new mini, so can be patient and wait if necessary.

I imagine the US price will remain the same, but who know with the exchange market being so volatile. I hope the M2 gets more channels for 32GB RAM, but I imagine thats a niche requirement. Only 5.5hrs to go, I'm hoping I'll get to soak in the glory a 2 hour showcase of watchbands live... I'm purposely planning to be disappointed. @Lammers is my macrumors psychiatric professional, so I'm taking his advice (see pg 672)

i was super excited, but as more and more rumours have come out, it seems the focus is on the higher end of the Mac mini spectrum. I am worried the entry level M1 Pro/Max version will suffer the Mac Pro fate and be super expensive.

Final predictions on Mac Studio pricing! I'll start:

If the base model comes with an M1 Pro - $1,399
If the base model comes with an M1 Max - $2,199

For an M1 Pro? That’s how much the 14” costs and its a full blown laptop?

For an M1 Max, I think it will be slightly more.
I see your point... Okay maybe $1699/1799... I still think the base model of the Mac Studio is going to be pricier than we've thought.
