I dont think you'll see annoucement till later on in the day for the UK. Its normally evening time to match up with midday US times.

Normal time is right now for these kind of announcements. Also the tweet from Greg said Monday morning specifically.

edit: but the US is still in summertime, so expect the press release at 2pm UK instead of the normal 1pm UK.

There's never been an M3 Mac Mini.
Good point, as I was thinking about the MacBook Air at the time.

In the case of the Mac mini, you can just substitute M2 for M3. IOW, I think the M4 16 GB Mac mini would be cheaper than M2 16 GB but more expensive than M2 8 GB. So, I think they will keep M2 around for a cheaper 8 GB entry level model.

iMac it is today
Makes sense.

Next in line will probably be MBPs since they'll have to launch the Pro and Max chips with that, which will need a bigger splash.

so it looks ram goes 16-24-32, which means mini will be 16 and mini pro 24?
Yeah, and an 8CPU/8GPU core entry-level M4 chip.

Ram upgrades are still a ridiculous $200-per-8GB, but at least the base is now a half-decent 16GB with no obvious price increase. Storage still the same silly prices...

More subtle detail: the 10 core models have "Four Thunderbolt 4 ports" confirming (a) the M4 has 4 TB/USB4 controllers and (b) it can support at least three screens in total (since the iMac has one internal) - since TB4 branding requires 2 displays to be supported via Thunderbolt.

Interesting wrinkle, though - the base 8/8 core model still says "2 Thunderbolt/USB4 ports" so it presumably doesn't support two extra displays... not that you'd get the binned chip if you wanted to run multiple displays...

Or not. While the 8 GB upgrade price is still $200, the 16 GB M4 iMac is priced the same as 8 GB M3 iMac. They did NOT increase the price.

For the record, here is current Mac mini pricing:

Canada:

However, the most important to me is Canadian education pricing:

P.S. Until today, I never realized that the US and Canadian sites spelled "customize/customise" differently.

Yeah, so this is what I was worried about. The new iMac is indeed 16gb but the upgrade path remains the same. +8gb =$250CAD. So most likely Apple will screw us on the Mini Pro and it will again be +$500CAD for upgrade to 32GB. Pure insanity to pay this.

On the other hand, Apple could be 'nice' and do base ram as 24gb on the Mini Pro so you could then upgrade to 32gb for 'only' $250CAD.

Reckon Mini Pro will be 18Gb and 36Gb option for $400 US

If they do a Mini Pro with base 24Gb for the price of the current M2 Pro I'll be on it like a seagull on chips.

Yeah, 24gb base on the mini pro would be great start otherwise Apple just made the mini pro $250 more expensive. (as the base model would get $250CAD 8gb bump without the price increase)

I think M4 Pro is guaranteed to start at 24GB or so, mainly because of the MBP 14" base M4 will be having 16GB, where the M4 Pro model has to maintain a clear distance from that to not look too bad.

So looks like M4 mini base is going to be 16/256 with 8c CPU and GPU with two TB ports, and likely two more USB-C ports at the front?

Shame that RAM and SSD upgrades still maintain the predatory pricing structure.

So far the rumours are that the base M4 Mac mini only has 3 USB-C ports, so if true, they would likely all be at the back.

while possible i don't think they will market the ram of a pro machine as base plus 2gb, seems to close, 24 makes more sense imho
