i think thats to some degree clear. The base mini:
16/256, 4+4,

the connections are not clear, though.
probably even just 2 TB4 ports. Or 2 TB4, 2 USB-C. How do we know apple ?
No, the rumour was 3 USB-C ports, most likely on the back only, for the M4 non-Pro model. And most likely all three USB-C ports will be Thunderbolt 4 / USB 4 because the M4 SoC has four Thunderbolt 4 controllers on-board.

M4 Pro adds two more USB-C ports in the front. Not sure if they are Thunderbolt 4 or else plain USB 4.

does this mean 5 ports for the pro-mini ?

i´d much doubt it that the base-mini would have 3 ports, and the Mini-pro would have 4.
A difference of just 1 ?
I suppose we´ll see a difference of 2 ports.

5 on the pro-Mini would be even better :)

M4 - 3 USB-C
M4 Pro - 5 USB-C

Well, the Amazon leak confirms that at least one model is going to have two front USB-C ports of some flavour.

Seems a bit silly to "waste" a USB4 controller on the M4 - considering the new iMac has the full 4 TB4 ports on the 10 core models. Esp. as the Mini is going to have at least one display permanently connected - most likely via TB4 - so there's more reason to give it the full compliment. But, then, Apple would like you to get the M4 Pro... and leaving off a TB4 port saves them an Intel TB re-timer chip.

Again, looking at the M4 iMac, the cheapest (8 core) version still only has two ports (and more limited display support) so there could be 3 and 5 port versions of the M4 Mini - with the 5th port being USB 3.2 only.

There's also precedent for having a mix of TB4 and USB-C only ports - the M1/M3 iMac and the M1/M2 Max Studio - the SoCs appear to have some I/O lines in addition to the USB4 controller..

Here's a wild mad guess:
M4 base model: 3 rear "TB/USB4" ports
M4 "better" model: 3 rear TB4 ports, 2 front USB-C 3.2 ports (or maybe 1 USB-C 3.2, 1 TB4)
M4 Pro model: 3 rear TB4 ports - 2 front ports, USB-C 3.2 or TB4 mix depending on how many controllers the M4 Pro has.

That´s the two, that´s where i´m coming from.

we´ll see soon enough. I *have* to take the pro just alone for the connectivity anyway.
4 or 5 ? irrelevant. It´s still not enough connectivity for my uses (audio). Can´t wait for a studio.
8 P-cores on the mini-pro is finally good news ! jay

Is today the Mini day? Sure feels like it!
My guess: no. because I don't think they're going to debut the M4 Pro with the Mac Mini.

If they're planning to launch the new M4/M4 Pro/M4 Max MacBook Pros this week those would be the flagship products and the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips will be the big splash.

Mini is probably last in the queue (after the new cleaning cloth...)

Seeing how they started with only the base level M4 chips yesterday, they could be going for a trickle release strategy. So it could be Mini's day today with M4 base and pro chips and then finally MBPs tomorrow with base, pro and max chips. Guess we'll find out in the next 2 hours!

If you are expecting the Mini today then I hate to disappoint you, it ain't happening. Why you ask? Because it is the one I am waiting for, such is my luck. As @theluggage said, "the mini will come after the new cleaning cloth" and make me wait.

/s

Edit:I am sooooooooo happy to have been wrong!!!!

Agree... my guess is new Mini on Friday.

It certainly seems to be the most anticipated, so announcing it early would make the rest of the week anticlimactic.
Well, the MacBook Pro sells in far, far higher volumes than the Mac mini, so I’d hazard to guess it’s more anticipated than the Mac mini.

Indeed, outside this Mac mini subforum, a lot of people are keenly interested in that MBP launch.
