Apple did it. TY

10-Core CPU

10-Core GPU

16GB Unified Memory

512GB SSD Storage

$799

Best deal in the Mac lineup. The pro is starting at $1399.00 for two more CPU cores, more GPU cores and 8gbmore ram for $600 more. Almost twice as much.

Very nice that the base M4 Mini supports triple 5K displays over TB/USB-C.

Awesome! Pre-order placed for the 16/512 model. 16GB RAM should be future-proof for a long time, and I mostly use external and Cloud storage, so 512GB internal storage is plenty. Slightly tempted to bump up to the 24GB model, but it's a slippery (uphill) slope to the Pro model "well, for only $200 more, I get..." repeat over and over!

Can't wait!

Would have liked a USB-A port for some of my legacy devices, but the A-to-C adapters are cheap. Totally happy with the 5 ports (plus Ethernet!) on the non-Pro model -- more than I was expecting, given the M2 port options. :)

One quirk that I saw on Apple's web page on the new Mini -- the power switch is on the BOTTOM of the Mini?? (requiring the user to lift up the unit to access it)
That's odd.

Sure, probably like most people, I hardly ever use the Mini's power switch, so NBD, but still seems very inconvenient placement for those admittedly rare times when you do need it.

If that's the biggest gripe/quirk, it's nearly inconsequential, and still an excellent model that I cannot wait to receive! It's just a curiosity.

I wonder what the best way to mount one of these on the back of a monitor will be?

I hope someone makes a bracket or something

If I get this over a m2 pro 16gb ram and same storage , will it be a big downgrade ?

About to order a Pro. I'll appreciate the power but biggest reason is DP2.1 over USB-C and TB5.

Undecided if I should get the upgraded chip (+2 CPU cores, +4 GPU cores) for another $180. On the one hand, it's not a lot of money. On the other, it's kind of a lot for just a couple of cores. Opinions?

Was really planning getting this mini - but looking at the options and I think I would want:
*M4 Pro Chip - $1400
*14 Core CPU / 20 Core GPU +$200
*48GB Ram +400

The total cost is $2000 - aka the base price for a Studio, which I think might be a much more powerful machine? Not to mention if I wait ~8 months, presumably the Studio with M4 Max will really blow it out of the water, for ~ the same price.

Would it be silly to get the Mini above instead of a Studio either now or next Spring? I don't have any particular need for a smaller machine.

This is almost Intel NUC size now. You will see all sorts of mounts for this; Bags, mounts, cases, docks.

Probably look-a-like drives also, which would be cool. Stacking a drive + hub would solve a few problems (like money)

The Intel NUC was the first thing I thought of when they unveiled the new Mini. Some of the existing NUC accessories may already work with the Mac Mini just due to its size. I could see a stackable SSD enclosure that uses Thunderbolt 5, probably from OWC.
