I am very much complaining about iOS 10's Music App and Apple Music. Number one thing missing: THE MUSIC! Search Gucci Mane on an iOS 9 device and an iOS 10 device and your will get about 12 albums on the iOS 10 device and countless albums on iOS 9. What's the deal? And where are the artist bios?? I loved reading about new artists with those bios.

I'm not a huge fan of the redesign on the beta. I compared the UI on the beta to my SE which is still running iOS 9. I just like everything better on the current version of the app. I will be providing feedback to Apple regarding the design. I do not like the bold fonts throughout the app (it could also be that I'm used to the UI of the app as it currently stands).

I'm holding out hope that Apple will put AM through some additional UI changes in subsequent public betas.

I switched from iOS 10 back to iOS 9 and now the music app is a boring confusing mess.

Does it let you download ALL your music with one button yet?!
Simple solution, create an iCloud playlist with all your music in iTunes and download the playlist.

It's how I manage my top rated playlist. If they ditch it I'll have to hold back updating iTunes so I can still update that playlist.
That's what I exactly want to do. I will turn off software update completely to avoid updating iTunes by accident and losing rating system forever.

I think this new app is one step forward, but three steps back.
Before on an artist page, you had a nice profile picture of them, now i have to click to see a picture in a popup? Oh my..

And where ist the freaking albums link on the artists page gone?
Now all we have on the artists page is this fricking carousel with a total of 25 (!!!) items. Wow!
I'm a big fan of a radioplay/audio drama, which has over hundreds of albums. Before, "album" was a link, heading you to the FULL overview of albums. I hated it, because you couldn't sort it manually, but now it's gone completely..
Now we have to use the sucking search function to go to album 75, because I can only see 25. Much step backward..

And yes, I reported it with the Feedback app already and hope, that someone will read it and do something about.

/rant (sorry for that :D)

Someone simply points out that Apple is abusing Their music app. Really true.

I imported my playlists into Spotify and I've been using that on my iPhone rather than iTunes/Music. Music app on iOS is dead to me.

And it is about to die for me if Apple continuously trash their mediocre old music app design and start anew.

Agreed. Apple needs to go back to its roots, iPod was awesome, Music app on iOS in previous versions worked fine, why are they trying to reinvent the wheel and change stuff that doesn't need fixing? I don't really remember fighting so much with a music app and noticing so much mediocre UI.

i want my bloody stars back!!!!

Seconded.

Apple needs to place MORE focus on the stars, not abandon them. Here's a piece of feedback I provided Apple via the Feedback app. I'm curious what other music fans think:

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Star ratings are no longer present in the Music app.

I'm not certain if this is a beta bug or a deliberate decision, but as a music lover, I feel that star ratings are an incredibly important feature to have.

While the "Love" feature is used to improve the algorithmic suggestions in the "For You" section, the purpose of star ratings is to allow the user to tag the music he likes, so he can go back to it afterwards.

If I have a particular artist that I like, I will give my favourite songs by that artist high star ratings to signify that I love particular songs. In iTunes, that allows me to create all sorts of Smart Playlists that pull out my favourite songs from a vast library, and I can create playlists based on these characteristics (i.e. my favourite heavy metal songs, my favourite songs by Bob Dylan, my favourite songs that I've added to my library within the past month etc...)

This is why I and many friends have spent years and years adding star ratings to our iTunes libraries; they're an amazing feature when you combine them with Smart Playlists.

What the iOS Music app needs is a modern equivalent of that. The curated playlists are excellent when I'm looking for new music to check out, but music listeners often just want to hear music they know and love. And given how large our libraries are, it's hard to sift through so many artists, albums, and songs.

That's why in addition to the great curated material, what Apple Music needs is a modern equivalent of Smart Playlists. The iTunes implementation would be too complex in an iOS world, but that's why I think a great solution would be to implement filters. Think of the UI of the old Beats Music 'The Sentence' feature. Add that to the Library tab, and make it so that the user can simply and easily specify characteristics (i.e. 5 star pop songs or 4+ star songs by Nine Inch Nails or my most played songs by The Beatles etc...) rather than just moods.

The user will easily select the parameters and it will automatically and dynamically generate a playlist from his or her library of all the music that meets those criteria.

The beauty here is that it's all based on the user's specific preferences, rather than just on a curator's suggestions. The user rates what she likes and can easily come back to it later. That's why star ratings are so important. Curation is amazing for finding new music and interesting playlists, but it only provides half the experience. The other half is this characteristic-based filter system. That's why star ratings are so important.

Thanks!

I believe all starts from adding streaming services "Apple music" back to iOS 8.4 era. TBH I liked that version of music app quite a lot because it was clear and easy to use. I didn't think there was anything wrong.
But now....
Apple Needs a dedicated app specifically for Apple Music, which has zero value to me. Or Apple will continue messing up working stuff and introducing more bugs and collecting more outrages and then losing customers.

Haven't I seen you post in Music app related threads during iOS 9, hating the Music app. And now you're saying why change anything that doesn't need fixing?

Not referring to the iOS9 music app, or the iOS8.4.1 app, that was the horrible mess which prompted Apple to try and do a complete 'revamp' in iOS10. I'm referring to earlier iOS versions, probably up to iOS 6 or 7.

It's supposed to be easier to use yet I'm finding it impossible to find the "up next" list, and there's no way I can see to jump straight to an artists section from a currently playing song

Scroll down from the player controls in the player screen.

Also not every button works or does something yet. It's still early beta. Not everything has been added back in during the redesign yet. Have patience.

Sigh the new Apple app is no better than the previous one
(1) Some song titles/album names are wrong.
(2) Still cannot download all songs to device with a click
(3) Asian pop music, classical tunes and orchestra music is still lacking
(4) For You is still not intuitive like Discover Weekly. I don't like 19 of the 20 songs recommended
(5) Bugs Bugs Bugs everywhere. The app crashes so often

Thanks for that! My lyrics were showing - frustrating that they've hidden up next below those.

Also I appreciate your help but I really effing wish people would stop saying "it's a beta" - we know that, but we're still going to voice opinions and ask questions

People keep saying "it's a beta" because people keep acting like it's a final product when something is missing. Clearly the app is not finished, it's going through a redesign. Complaining that "OMG this new app sucks, I can't do x anymore!" Is a whole lot different than just asking if it's intended to be missing or coming eventually in a later build due to it being reworked. Many things are going to make their way back. It's in the official release notes of beta 1 and 2 so far.

Sort of a sidenote to this but is anyone actually getting any lyrics to load? On the few songs where the Lyrics button actually shows up, clicking "show" results in a "failed to load lyrics" message. Just wondering if that's country specific, something that's not working generally, or something borked on my install before I report it as a bug/unexpected behaviour. From past experience I hope lyrics doesn't turn out to be a US only feature

(Completely unrelated to the topic, sorry, but it's annoyed me as I type this: I really hope enough people have submitted the "page jumps around while typing bug" cos it's just made typing this almost impossible :( )

Just find and load lyrics to your local iTunes music library music.
Or if you refer to Apple Music, hmm, then you will have to wait for quite a while as few songs are being added with lyrics yet.
