Not yet, which bugs me. I know we can use iTunes or Siri to rate songs but it's not always convenient.

I have reported feedback on this several times now, so maybe we'll get it in the first update to iOS 10, if not the GM.

As long as they exist in iTunes for macOS, I can still create very detailed smart playlists and sync to iOS, if they ditch them all together, I don't know what I'll do. Probably resort to tags like "5 starts" if tags even still exist.

A simple on/off switch Loved option isn't enough.

I installed the latest beta over the weekend, upgrading from iOS 9, and am also disappointed with the music app. The design isn't what bothers me though, it's the ability to show only the music on my phone. I know I can do that via the "Downloaded Music" option but it only sorts by album. This is a pain to scroll through when I there is a specific album by a specific artist I want to listen to. If I go into the Artists section it lists everything ever purchased in iTunes. I much prefer the old way of showing only what's on my phone and sorting it by artist. Click on that, find the album, done.

I suppose it's possible I'm missing the function, but I've been through the entire music app and the music settings and see no way of sorting like I used to. Very disappointing.

I'm really annoyed by AM because when my iPhone connects to my car over Bluetooth it plays from the beginning of the first song listed alphabetically not the last played position. It's so much irritating. Does someone know any solution?

Music app is essentially useless on two of my devices. I can get to playlists, but when I attempt to scroll to the bottom of them the application will go through a few freeze cycles before it will work properly again. Playing form my car I can skip a single track, then the application becomes unresponsive if I attempt to skip a 2nd.

Force quit the music application, it doesn't matter, it is stuck and locked in the exact same spot it last froze in. It appears it either saves the last state, or fails to dump the active memory of the Music app when you force quit it. Essentially it isn't playing nice with the system.

Beats radio 1 works flawlessly, too bad I can't stand most of the content. :( .

It's a good thing my test phones aren't daily drivers. having an iPhone without a reliable music app

Does anyone know WHY Apple would kill star ratings? They can even make them work together with "love" by making "love" equivalent to 5 stars.

I may merely like some songs (3 stars), some songs I may like and have an emotional connection to (4 stars), and some completely rock my world whenever I hear them (5 stars). Merely having a "like" button isn't really enough, and with Apple Music and people having access to millions of songs, these distinctions can matter even more.

Sometimes it feels like one of the pitfalls of tech having gone so mainstream is that good features are dumbed down/removed because the "average user" doesn't use them. This is sad and infuriating.

Don't even need to mention such move does not bring any noticeable benefit for end user.

I feel like an outsider but I've never used the star ratings so that's a non-issue for me, but clearly not so for many others. I'm kind of disappointed that we haven't seen any signs of Discovery Mix since it was announced on stage at WWDC. Looking forward to that feature and hopefully it's still coming.

Sorting on the new music app is a disaster if the artist has a lot of albums. I've never been a big fan of sorting on iOS devices, but it's worse than it's even been in iOS 10.

Anyone else seeing a problem with album art? I tried transferring three new albums across with beta 7 (problem persists with 8) and the album art was just something random from somewhere else in my library.
In iTunes it's all fine and dandy, but when I sync the songs that end up on my iPhone are showing something completely different! It's worse than no album art at all.

Sounds like a bad matching that would happen often when AM launched.

Double check the actual songs to make sure they play as the correct version. If so, just change and update the album art from iTunes and it should sync over. (This is all assuming you're using iCloud Music Library)

If the songs themselves have changed to a different version. A workaround to bad matching is to remove it from iCloud Music Library, add it back to iTunes but not iCloud Music Library. Change the track titles slightly (I usually add an abbreviated album name in front the song name like so "AlbumTrackName" no space between the addition and the track name) Then add to iCloud Music Library. What this does is bypass matching and just uploads what you actually have. Once added to iCloud change the track titles back to normal.

Thanks for the suggestion but I'm not using iCloud Music Library or Apple Music or any of that newfangled stuff. These are tracks that I've manually added to my iTunes library and manually added artwork to. Then synced across to my phone.

I should add that the same is true if I manually add an image to a playlist in iTunes. It's fine on my laptop but by the time it reaches my phone it's been changed into something else.

With ratings gone I feel it's the strongest indication yet that Apple doesn't care about local music and is validating my shift away from iTunes/Music towards Spotify. 10+ years of ratings down the drain. Thank you Apple.

Did they ever fix the horrid scrolling in album view on iPads? The stutter has been present since ios 8.4 and I can't believe it doesnt embarrass them.

Almost as good as Spotify - it'll get there in due time with enough tweaking - I just wish there was some special feature they could add to further differentiate, but of course that's tough nowadays

I find the new iOS 10 Music app more intuitive to use than the iOS 9 Music app. I love I can get to my Downloaded music and My Library much faster. However, it's still too many taps and swipes to get through curated playlists and new music. Still...it's an improvement.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I am also not happy with the new music app.
The things i am missing the most are:

-Switching between my own playlists and the ones from Apple (att the moment you havee them all together)
-In New Music you can't choose a genre anymore
-No indicator if it is downloading anything on Library (you ahve to be in the album or playlist to see if it is downloading)

Positive:
+ You can now allow mobile data usage for streams and/or downloads (before you had only the choice to activate it for both)
