Mine is pushing over Wifi and 3G. Doesn't seem to matter how you're connected.

did it work over WiFi even if you didn't have a sim card in there? Yeah, it doesn't seem to make any sense how I'm connected, as long as it can contact apple's servers... but somehow it just doesn't work for me.

Being jailbroken is not the issue (I am jailbroken too and its fine). The T-mobile thing I am not sure about. If you have data for T-Mobile then it should work fine. Make sure you are not on a call while testing it :p

Well, that's the thing. With 3.0, there's no unlock for tmobile yet, so tmobile users can't even use their sim card until ultrasn0w is out. And when I just use wifi, I'm not getting any push notifications.

Weak cell signal delaying push notifications?

Am I the only one not getting the push notifications. I am sending messages from my wifes MSN account and nothing. Open the app and they appear. Yes push is enabled on the phone for beejive.

Anybody got this working on a 3G? (not S). I downloaded
the 3.0 version and its not doing push. I have all 3 notifications
enabled. I disabled email push in settings. Still nothing. My messages
only show if I launch the app. Suggestions?

I had the same issue and tried two things and I'm not sure which one fixed it for good.

1) Restarted my iPhone
2) Turned the iPhone to Airplane mode and then turned Wi-Fi on alone.

The reason I kind of believe that the 2nd option did more is that when I rebooted I got some push messages but that might have also been because it did the initial search for a cell signal upon reboot as well. When I switched to Wi-Fi only I get ALL push notifications INSTANTLY. I'm wondering if Apple is trying to push to the cell network first and Wi-Fi second and when you have a weak cell signal (0-1 bar in my house) then it prevents your device from getting the push notice.

This is just a theory based on very little evidence but it seems to fit what I'm seeing here. When I have more time I may try switching to cell only in my house to see the difference between that and Wi-Fi only.

I'm getting push on a 1st gen Touch, so it should definitely work over wifi. So weird to have a non-jailbroken background process!

Haha, yes, I guess we can say it's "weird". I have been using it for a couple of hours and its great! Nearly instant and what not. Only haven't been notified of one message all this time (out of around 80).

I wonder if the yahoo problem can be solved server side or if we'll have to wait for apple to review another update.

i downloaded it but every time i open it it just says connect to itunes to use push

Looks like you are running a jailbroken and unlocked 2G iPhone not running on the official carrier. There is a fix for that coming out soon. Stay tuned.

Anyone using this yet?

I am curious about two things:

1) How well are the notifications? (Fast, slow, buggy, etc.)

2) Can you turn it off somehow? I would hate it if it was "always on" and even when I am on the computer, the phone is going off every two seconds.

Thanks in advance...

1. Fast and buggy (but they will work it out and I love the app)!
2. Yes you can turn it off.

One thing I noticed and don't like, could be a bug or oversight, is when your in the Beejive application and you shut your phone off (sleep/wake button) you don't receive a push notification because it's acting like your still in the app.

Anybody else notice this?

Why would you want a push notification when the app is already open? Does not make any sense at all.

What they mean is if you forget to close the app before you put your phone to sleep you could miss a very important message because if the the app is open, phone asleep or not, you don't get any alert that you have a message.

it finally just started working. :). although i wish you could change the sound so it doesn't sound like your getting an email but idc, i finally got push.

Taking forever to log into Windows Live (both accounts), and sometimes doesn't even log in (like after 10 mins). All it does is sit at the spinning wheel thing. Anyone know what's up?

Exactly... thanks for restating it. Trust me, you will hear people complain about this when they realize it. Like you stated, if your in the app and the phone sleeps or you press the sleep button, you will not know you received an IM.

Try it...

Can someone please tell me if beejive allows you to stay logged in for 24 hours like aim does? Thanks.

You can change the setting, although about 4 hours later mine disconnected. I got the message three times stating that my AIM had disconnected.
