First impressions .... The switch is oh so tiny .... Has anyone handled a blackberry playbook ? It's pretty much identical dimensions and weight. Not keen on the joy-cons size wise, they make me feel like Andre the Giant ....

Splatoon 2 runs at 720p docked, not 1080p currently.
I've seen at least one analysis where they believed it to be 1080p, but lets just hold on that until we get retail analyses in that case! 8)

Speaking of buying digital vs. physical games - Nintendolife.com reports that BotW gives you 16 My Nintendo Gold points for the eShop version, but 60 for the physical edition.
Just a heads up for those that like to buy Nintendo gimmicks/merchandise for their free points..

Ok setting this up, Nintendo account system and signing into your Nintendo ID is an utter mess. Seriously it doesn't even give you the option on initial setup to sign into your account ?? You have to create a user account, then even on settings no option to manage account, you have to sign into E-Shop and only then will it prompt you for your Nintendo account and to merge / link accounts. It's really unintuitive and shows Nintendo are still playing catch up. It also gives you the warning that this service is only free till the end of 2017.

Bought RMX and downloading snipperclips to see how it plays solo before pressing buy. Not all games can be demoed.

I am Setsuna is €40 and Shovel Knight and expansion is €25
Snipperclips is €20 and so is Fast RMX

The initial system update is very small. Literally took seconds.

The Nintendo Screen Protector is meh ! It will do until there is some nice tempered ones available.

Pro Controller is USB C and DOES not work with snipperclips ....

The USB charger cable supplied is not very long at all, so you will need your dock to be close to power outlet.

----

Snipperclips can be soloed you simply press X to swap between characters.

So I proceeded to eshop to purchase and low and behold you have to put your CC info fully in once again. It doesn't store your CC info, so every purchase you have to re input it.

_________

Switch screen is nice indeed and decent viewing angles. Speakers are much improved over Wii U's but still don't get terribly loud. You will be playing with max volume turned on most of time ....

Now to unpack my Zelda game and goodies ;)

They are wrong ... I just clicked on the earn points for my retail copy and it gave me the same 16 ....

My haul.

Arrived an hour or so ago.

Quick impressions as I posted huge impressions from the event lol, but I love the hardware so so much. It feels fantastic.
It's tiny, feels magnificent in the hand. The joy cons fit my hands amazingly but I do have girl hands. Ha.

Pro controller is a really great feel and a big upgrade from the Wii U one, which I found lovely anyway.

OS is barebones as we know, but love the new tweaks. Like the number above your avatar to say how many friends are online. Pretty neat.
Like the on screen notifications in top left. Also neat.
Like the slickness of the OS, nothing else out there is this snappy. No slow down what so ever it just feels blazing.
eShop will be good once more titles added and it packs out a bit.

Would post more but want to play it. Ha.

So much want.

I tried to refrain from watching any footage of BotW but I caved and watched a couple of reviews, and man.... it looks like an interactive-openworld-Saturday-morning-fantasy-cartoon. *drool*

Lol, we got near identical stuff. Such gadget whores

I know it's bad form, but I haven't played Zelda yet !!!! I know I know, but have to work at same time.

Snipperclips is great though and Shovel Knight feels great on it.

I do envision myself playing the Switch 75% in handheld form around the house. (Did the same with my Wii U)

Image quality through the dock to my 4k TV is only OK compared to how much sharper it appears on the devices screen itself.

Damn I pre ordered an extra set of Joy Cons and now i'm rethinking it. I didn't really like the feel of the Pro Contoller at the Switch event but now knowing that it last 40 hrs and and can used a PC controller, i'll probably get it.

Same here. That's what I like about Nintendo consoles btw: they don't look like gigantic wannabe spaceships..

I swear that when I go into the store this afternoon to (hopefully) get a Zelda Wii U copy and they'd have a switch + BoTW floating around I'd probably get that instead, lol. Chances are pretty low though so good for me and my wallet.

Every Target store around me shows in stock. I'm about to head out to Best Buy now. I think Nintendo made plenty. Why couldn't they build enough of the NES Mini...

I'm not in the US though. :D I think Europe/Germany is more Nintendo hyped than the US (could be wrong about that of course). Online stock is sold out everywhere I looked at. Granted, I'm not checking every single store around here - not that important for me. Somehow glad the Wii U version is said to be great as well so I can give her one last salute.

Just playing Zelda now.
Handheld mode is amazing. As is the docked TV mode.

Having so much fun just exploring and wandering round.

Not played Bomberman yet.

1 2 Switch never showed. o_O It was dispatched on Wednesday (separate order from my haul above but same site) so it should have come with post but didn't. Really gutted. Think I'm going to just buy it from Argos and return the copy that does show up when it does prob tomorrow.

It truly is like Christmas Day. I love the Switch so much more than I ever loved the Wii and Wii U already!

Caved. Got an instock alert for BB.

Ordered.

Will be here on Tuesday.

WTF is wrong with me?!?!

I cant wait to play Zelda as the hype train is obliterating the station with these reviews and ratings.

It's more a case that we got allocated less stock than USA not because Nintendo sells better here. It doesn't. USA & Japan are bigger markets for Nintendo (has been since the NES).

TBH, im really surprised they opted for such a wide release, considering their supply issues.

Initially, i was kinda disappointed the Switch wasn't using a TegraX2, but then I realized that since its the X1(older tech), they should be able to ramp up production pretty quickly. Hopefully stock will be enough to satisfy demand.

To the lucky owners, any 'left-joy-con' issues?

Woo-hoo, just finished playing the first 15 minutes of BotW on my new Switch...in portable mode! Wow, the screen is beautiful, and the "heft" is just right, although it is about 9 inches long, including the joy-cons. I didn't think I would bother playing this in portable mode, but I just wanted to run the battery down before I docked and charged it for the first time, and man, this is nice!

My impressions...set up was really simple, and once I hooked it up to my WiFi (simpler now that I remember my own password), I got hooked up with their start page and started reading all the info pages. The first system update download very quickly, and after going through all the explanations of where the ports were and how to attach and detach the joy-cons, I was ready to play.

After finding the game card slot, and putting the cart in (why does it rattle?), I started Zelda, downloaded an update (again, very fast), and was playing. The little screen is bright and crisp, definitely very nice. Now, I'm worried about needing a screen protector, any good recommendations out there?

All in all, very happy, and waiting for the workday to be over, so I can focus 100% on BotW. Also very happy that I picked one up, GameStop screwed up my online order, but thankfully all I had to do was wait 15 min for crappy Wal-Mart to open, and wait for the 4 people in front of me to get theirs. (Unfortunately, it seems at least 2 of them were going to scalp their units, shame on them). Again, thank god I got one, I've gotten the new Nintendo system day one, every time, since the N64, and didn't want to break my streak here!

It really is beautiful to watch and play. I know the artistic style has been criticized ("not 'life-like' enough...but wait, this is all a fantasy rpg-type game...). I remember Wind Waker was also criticized as well for looking "cartoony", but after firing up OoT on my N64 recently and playing that, all I can say is that Wind Waker still looks great, but OoT looks very dated with the huge polygons. I think the artistic style of BotW will keep it fresh looking for years.

Oh no not another "rattle". between this an my 2016tMBP, my OCD is going to go into overdrive.

Totally agreed with your last comment. It looks like it will hold up pretty well. But did I understand you correctly.... that you had to download an update for the game (as opposed to the console)?

Mine arrived this morning. I'm working all day so I haven't had the chance to open it up and play yet.

I did go pick up a pro controller though and it took 5 stores for me to find one. No one has the Switch in stock here (Best Buy, GameStop, Target, Wal-Mart, Sams).

Yes there is an update for the game that it prompts you to install before it launches ...

Ditto what MRU said, the update is quick and painless...don't ask me how much of my internal memory I have left now, I don't want to know!

Re: rattle, no worries, it's just my OCD! It is just the game cart when you are holding it in your hand, if you shake it, it rattles (why?). Once it is plugged in, no rattle...when I shake my Switch, all I hear are the tiniest of clicks from the joystick and buttons...sounds nice..
