The only Zelda game I ever finished was A Link to the Past. I think it's also the only Zelda game I ever played, as the SNES was the last Nintendo console I owned.

That game was outstanding though, that music is still stuck in my head 25 years later...

If you get it let us know your thoughts. I'm tempted by this too as Mac version is €21.99 here and switch is cheaper at €19.99

Will do. Checked the store this morning but it hadn't made it out of the 'coming soon' section. I'm a bit concerned about the controls. (Considering this genre is best suited for pointer controls)

So, on a whim and I've REALLY gotta stop doing this... I bought Thimbleweed Park and Steamworld Dig 2. Haven't played them yet but they both look and sound sooo good. Reviews of both have been outstanding so I'm really excited about them!

And if it follows other Switch midnight releases, Pokken should be out tonight. I'm going to get it but I think I need to play through one or two of these 30-odd games I own now. Zelda, Minecraft, Rabbids, Mario Kart, Splatoon 2 all have healthy play times and the rest don't.

SteamWorld Dig 2 is not to be missed!
The 3DS original was a must-play.
I'll pick this one up as soon as I'm finished with Samus Returns.

Hah, this is exactly how I go about things. O.a.w. (On a whim) purchases nonstop. I have a few games on my shelf that aren't even opened yet!

I'm back at Bloodborne trying to finish it off before any announcement of Bloodborne 2 creeps up on me. Plus, Fall is the perfect time of year to dive back into that one.

Then it's on to finishing Horizon and starting up Dishonored 2.

Every week I have to restrain myself from buying something new. I really want to check out Observer as it looks like something I'd really enjoy.

I got it yesterday and so far seems good. It took a while for me to get the gist of things but once I caught on it was good.

One thing I don't like too much, or need to get used to, is the control layout. You walk with the left stick (or the left four buttons) and perform actions like jumping and digging with the right buttons. But--to me--strangely you run by holding down the Y button. So to jump far/high you have to use the left controls to move, hold Y to run, then quickly press B in order to jump. I would have preferred that Run was simply a press of the left stick, while moving right or left. Or perhaps a top button for run.

Oh my giddy aunt I ended up with Pokken last night too. So that’s Pokken, Thimbleweed, SteamDig, that New Kingdom Game, and that old skool roguelike. I should stop now. I’m writing this as my partner is learning the Pokken tutorial.

And hey it’s fun! It’s exactly what I want in a fighting game; some complex charge system, very simple controls with no memorisation required, quite a few fighters with lots of variation. Really enjoying it so far.

Also, oops, I picked up Pokémon Gold on the 3DS eShop too. And some themes.

Yeah. But. At this point I’m worried I’m never even going to get to some older games I bought! Playing through all my Switch games will be easy, but then I’ve got 3DS and DS games to tackle, then GBA, PS4, finally PS3. Never gonna get finished! I remember posting a screenshot of my total 3DS playtime over 5 years, and loads of followers asked if that was it. I mean, how do folk get to play so many games? I’ve got a healthy amount of free time but even I can’t catch up on my pile of shame D:
Oh! One thing I’ve started doing is playing all games, regardless of what they are, on easy mode just in the hopes that I can finish them and move on.

Man, I know. Who has the time to do anything these days? I literally just finished Persona 5 a few hours ago, and I started playing it on launch day. Granted, my save file is like 150 hours, so I sunk I good chunk of time into it, but it still took me more than 5 months to finish. I think it might be the only game I've finished this year aside from Breath of the Wild...

How is this Dig 2? Looks like an updated Dig-Dug....

Actually - the original game on PC is FREE at Origins - downloading it now to give it a shot...

EDIT: Gave the first one a shot on PC - great game, but not my type of game... Thank God for Demo's!!!

This is a good in depth discussion about Doom on the Switch. Sure it's not as good as the PS4 port, but for a portable device, that's damn impressive.

That's something we all deal with at some point. Either too many games bought or too busy a life to find time to play the game we have bought. Looks like you have to work out a way to deal with it. It's only recently become a thing for me but it's not hard to deal with it (well for me at least). I just play the games I most want to finish first and if I don't get ot finish them all, so be it. There's more to life than just video games.

Saw those vids - I guess many were at some Bethesda event got to play it.

I heard that yes, of course, it is not as good as the PS4 version, but it IS FOR a little tablet, and of course that's impressive...

I just bought a bunch of cool indie games on sale at Steam - I keep saying in the reviews that I would like to see a Nintendo Switch version - who has time to sit only at a desk to play a lot of these games?

(ha, ha, some of these games have "PS Vita Versions" - who has one? They're around $160 used still plus $70 for a stupid special memory card...)

My Switch playing has well and truly dried up recently. It's not a bad thing, as I have a backlog on the PS4 to focus on, which I'm enjoying, but I kind of wish the Switch had more to entice me.
Once October hits, I'll be set :p but its felt like after a stellar 4-5 months with it, it's gone verrrrry downhill for me.

It doesn't help that I'm not interested in the big releases since Arms. Splatoon - not for me. Rabbids - not my type of game. Rayman - never got into it and they don't deserve my money for porting that game over lol. Pokken - I like a fighting game, but this doesn't grab me from the demo (which I've played multiple times). I also think it's the first Switch game that looks a bit ropey... not tried it on the TV but on the Switch screen it just looks a little faded / washed out. I also think it's a bit of a tricky game to get to grips with.

Like I say, come October I'll have loads what with Mario and then Sonic Forces and Resident Evil Rev 1&2 etc. Just wish I liked the other big games that came before it to give me more Switch time!

Hi guys!
As I said I ordered my Switch! I have decided to go with Neon-Blue version with pro controller, Zelda game, Zelda book, Splatoon 2 game, Splatoon case and screen protector and, of course, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Total cost: £500.

I hope I will be not regreting the purchase. I'm so excited! I love new electronics, computers, gadgets and stuff!

LA Noire will run at 1080p docked, 720p handheld. http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20...un_at_1080p_when_docked_720p_in_handheld_mode

How amazing is that? Yeah, it's a last gen game but it was a very resource heavy/expensive game. It gives me hopes about other, more popular games that used this engine making their way to Switch!

I picked up Steamworld Dig 2, too. It's brilliant. Like in the very definition of the word. Other words; gripping, surprising, amazing. I'm very early in but I'm enjoying it so much. It scratches a lot of itches - Metroidvania, collecting and selling gems, lots of secrets to hunt down. I didn't expect it to be this good! I picked up Thimbleweed Park too but it's Steamworld Dig 2 that's getting all my free time. It's great! It also pulled me out of my Mario Rabbids addiction... it's that good.

Agreed - it's so good I started a separate thread a few days back...

I've been playing a load of Rayman Legends. Love the game but the loading screens and load times are annoying especially given the Wii U times are quicker and the PS4 & Xbox One versions have practically no load times at all. It doesn't really feel like the definitive edition is supposed to be.

Hello again!
I purchased the Nintendo Switch and I absolutely love this console. It so little and tiny, but I connected it to my iMac and the Zelda is beautiful! I also have Splatoon 2 on the shelf and the Mario Kart is dispatched (I don't know why they didn't send me Mario with other stuff). I also purchased the Pro controller which is one of the best controllers I ever had.
Fortunately, the October holiday is coming soon. I will play all my new games on PS4 and Switch.

Tomorrow - Nintendo Retro on the Switch will begin!

Nintendo Arcade: Mario Brothers...

Can't wait for Donkey Kong!!!

Just downloaded Nintendo Arcade: Mario Brothers.

I only played Mario Brothers maybe once or twice on the machine - most places aound me had Donkey Kong if they had any Nintendo machine.

I played Mario Brothers on an NES when I finally got one for my collection back in the day and Funcoland was getting rid of their NES games for 4 for $1 (the NES I saved from the trash ).

This version, of course, is the actual arcade version (ROM?) under emulation.

Nice, plays exactly like the arcade machine with all the screens, intros, intermissions, etc.

Major CON:

What is up with the sound? Why do emulators always seem to have trouble with the sound? (Colors are okay, though).

It seems that some sounds are too loud and others too soft, plus it is really muffled. I wonder if it was programmed this way as it would play fine on a cheap speaker/amp circuit in their arcade cabinet...

(I am playing in handheld mode)
