DOOM is awesome, played it in my Xbone, waaayyy better thenDoom 3 and not a remaster if it either. Skyrim is cool too.

Just started playing Rocket League - OMG.....

Had it on Xbox One, bought used but sold it back to GS for essentially what I paid in when I found out about the Switch version.

Boy am I glad I did - this is something that would be fun to play on the road...

The only bad thing about these PC and console games ported to the Switch, some assume you are playing with a monitor at your desk or a large screen at home.

I can't really see the small text on these games in handheld mode...

Some Doom impressions.....
Kindof disappointed. The resolution drops to the point where it looks too pixelated, and on top of that AA and DOF make it look super blurry, while the framerate tanks. When all those things happen at the same time pretty often, it really detracts from the experience.
It seems to me, like this is less of a technical marvel and more of just turning the settings down "lower than low(PC)" to get it to run.
I really wanted to like this port. :/
EDIT: after spending some more time with the game, the opinion above might have been too harsh as DOF blurriness for things in the distance seem to be the way the game is intended to work.

Which screen? I can't tell in mobile mode.

Reviewers are saying if you are going to play mainly docked, you should get a console/PC version. They have been creeping up in price, though. I bought a PS4 copy used on sale for $13. I see copies now go for $18.

I've been playing in handheld mode for the most part. I turned off the blur option in the settings. I've been "switching" between MarioOdyssey and Doom, so its possible that the difference in visual fidelity just become more pronounced.

Yeah - totally different game and aesthetics. Odyssey will look cleaner and crisper to the dark, blurry, DOOM.

For me, it is going from 30fps DOOM to 60fps Rocket League... ;)

So another update, i was probably too harsh in my earlier post. It seems like in larger environments the game has a depth of field effect in play, and combine that with smoke/fog effect, was making things in the distance look really blurry/pixelated at times. I kept an eye on things closer to the camera, and they looked fine at most times. It's a fun game.

Cheers

Thanks for pointing that out, wasn't aware of the exclusivity.

But hey, UK got a really cool Samus Returns bundle that I was jealous of. =)
Yeah I'm so jealous of that too. I'm Australian and here we didn't get any special edition of that game (Samus Returns). Not the great UK one. Not the smaller US one. Literally nothing, just the standard game. If I owned a 3DS I would have tried to import the UK special edition.

Also thank you.

Doom on the Switch gave me a headache every time I tried to play so I gave up on it. I find it so weird that Nintendo is only allowing certain games for preorder/pre load. Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 will be big downloads but still no preorder option as yet and some smaller size games are available for it.

Bless

Playing at work (breaks and lunch): Rayman Legends
Playing at home (connected to Wifi): Rocket League

Rocket League is so fun! I'm really glad it came to Switch. I don't play any sports games, or car games beside Mario Kart, but this one is an exception. There's a small learning curve and then you slowly feel yourself getting better and better.

I got a Switch a few months ago and I already have 44 games! I love this thing. I have like 3 or 4 games that I regret buying but the majority of the games I got are great.

Wow, that's a huge collection.
Which ones are your favorite, and which do you regret? Which ones haven't you played yet?

Personally, I'm happy today that Capcom finally announced some Switch love, with a whole slew of Mega Man games.

Personally, I'm happy today that Capcom finally announced some Switch love, with a whole slew of Mega Man games.

My favorites: BotW, SMO, Splatoon 2, FIFA 18, Golf Story, Rayman, MK8D.

Regret buying: Sonic Mania (yes believe it or not), Gear Club, Puyo Puyo Tetris.

I enjoy playing all the games I have except for the ones I regret buying. To answer your other question, I’ve played all of them except for one game (Serial Cleaner) because I only got it last night and I didn’t have time to play it.

I’ve never played a Mega Man game before so I know nothing about these games.

Also, if you think my collection is huge go and check the Nintendo Switch community on reddit. People there have more than more than 60 games some of them more than 100 Switch games!

It wasn't until Super Mario Odyssey that I felt compelled to finally get a Switch, and I could not resist the SMO bundle with those sweet Mario-red joycons! Glad I grabbed that bundle before the holidays - I haven't seen it in stores for the past 3 weeks!

Yes I know BotW was reason enough for many to grab a Switch, but now I'm focused on Odyssey and will add MK8D, Snipperclips, and BotW in the future (they'll probably be showing up under my Christmas tree)!

Switch must have had the strongest first year release schedule of any console I reckon...and I do remember quite a lot of the critics were not convinced they get any momentum going too :)

I personally find the Switch uncomfortable to hold and play on handheld mode. It's too wide and heavy, and the buttons are too small and the triggers don't feel too clicky.

Am I the only one? As a handheld I don't find it too useful.

I play a ton in handheld, and enjoy it.
But you're right, it could be more comfortable.

You could try playing in tabletop mode (kickstand) with the Joy-Con separate, optionally attach the wrist straps to make them bigger.

I've also brought my Pro Controller when I travel which is a thing of beauty.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Nintendo releases "Joy-Con XL" in the future for people with bigger hands.

From what I’ve heard, the WiiU sold a total of about 16 million consoles!
The Switch has already sold around 10 million and a lot more interest is now being shown by third party devs. Bayonette being the latest one, the third game will be a Switch exclusive I think!

Expectations were relatively low but the launch was impressive, no doubt. I believe Wii had a better first year with the best first year sales overall going to PS2, but don't quote me. I could be wrong. Nintendo did a great job differentiating. They identified a different type of gamer and cater to them perfectly. Kudos to them!

Wii U did not hit the spot. Wii, on the other hand, was a blow out success. It comes and goes, I guess.

Again catering to a market that your competitor doesn't is such a winner - PS and Xbox are fairly interchangeable but nothing else on the market is like the Switch and having the best franchises / games helps especially when they are NEVER going to be on a Sony or MS machine. I also see some families probably having two switches or more which is never really going to happen with the other two consoles much plus taking my Switch on the train, what great free publicity for Nintendo. Seems almost weird now to have to go home to my TV to play on my Xbox.

A colleague of mine use his switch all the time. More often in portability instead of docked mode. Switch trump card is the ability of play on it even when the TV in the house is hogged by a family member. As a dad it would handy as we are not always in the lounge.

Even Xbox or PS fans who ended up getting a switch love it.

I ended up liking it more than I thought and even picked up Zelda (played the other games briefly and didn't like them) and like the whole "just explore" and mobile a lot.

DOOM was icing on the cake... ;)

Everyone I know that picked one up liked it a whole lot more than they thought they would.

I wish I had these guys' enthusiasm at reveal... :)

Interesting. I am curious about it but worry I will miss out on COD, GT/Forza and other "hardcore" games. And there is no way I can justify buying two consoles right now.

I have never been in to Zelda or given it a proper go but love bomber man and Mariokart.

Rumours are GTA may come to the Switch! If it does, knowing Activision, it won’t be long before COD also makes it into the system.
