Assuming this is the standard “Mac gaming” troll thread, it’s intentional.

Intel machine slower at video editing? Doesn’t matter because games.

Intel machine roasts your balls while using it? Doesn’t matter because video games.

Adobe software? FCP? Logic Pro?
They aren’t games therefore they don’t matter.

And the argument always shifts to gaming because that’s the only argument they have.
the ”argument of the niche” ???

It's not only gaming. The Mac Os with M1 10 core is also slow with many tabs open. I dont know which system do you use, but it's to slow for me as a replacement for my ryzen 9 system. It's no highend feeling. But i use this laptop mostly for media (hdr) consumption, so i can live with it. If you want take it as a replacement for your desktop. Forgot it.

I tested it several hours today together with mouse, keyboard on a 34 inch uwqhd screen. I was so bored by it's slowness compared with my system. I could only to use it if my main system is defect. I asked me several times, what do mac users seeing. M1 is so snappy. Lol. It's obvious they have never seen a modern, fast pc.

I don't understand the OP, nor most of the responses to it. That video shows the Max smoking the top-spec 2019 16" in almost every test, including the one gamingish test, the Aztec Ruins benchmark, where the 2019 gets half the frames the Max does.

Did the OP or anyone else actually look at the video? (And it doesn't matter if a couple charts were wrong if you actually watched, since the narration is clear what's going on.)

100 watt 3080 is slow. Normally it's using up to 165 watt. It's much faster then. Also between 130 and 165 watt 3080 is a 20 - 30 fps difference.

And the Lenovo laptop is trash, it's throtteling even with using only 100 watt. He should use a Legion 7 instead of this overheating crap.

Why are you using browser tabs as a benchmark tool? As I said before, this is not 1990s anymore. Websites can be far more demanding that even some professional software. If its heavy on Javascript, Ads, Video content and other things on the page. And the same page CANNOT be used for comparison depending on what ad shows up.

Using the same thermal envelope as the M1 Max as the video says.

If you want to use a 165 watt GPU go ahead and buy a chunky hot laptop that will still throttle and lose in productivity apps.
and follow us to the beach to do whatever on battery alone. ???????

You can move from one place to another. Nobody will game on battery. If it's hot in the summer, i move with my gaming laptop into the cellar. I wont carry my big screen and desktop into the cellar.

Today I learned that Macs are not for serious gaming and they are for editors and music professionals instead, and that there is a difference between the two regarding hardware.

Yes you can stay in the cellar, please.

These Maxtech guys are not legit laptop reviewers, they are more or less benchmark-heads that dont really understand the benches they are running or the nuiance that go into analyzing them. Their "review" generally consists of rifling through dozens of benchmarks with almost zero analysis that good outlets like anandtech or arstechnica go through. And they take into no consideration real world usage scenarios, and gives no thought on usage away from an office desk.

this comment needs more attentio. Don’t believe those Max tech peeps. Their benchmarks do not reflect real world usage at all.
and
Anyone who buy macbooks for gaming should have their head checked. Apple did compare the m1 max to rtx 3080 mobile; however, the comparison is within productivity apps and not about gaming.

What matter is real gaming fps sucks a lot. Lol 70 fps that is not what I expect from a $4000 laptop. Even $400 Windows laptop can have same fps with latest onboard display.
Well, you just miss the point. It’s worthless to argument with a guy who just doesn’t recognise he tries to fly with a car….

The video includes numerous real-world-type tests in numerous real-world professional apps. I can't tell that anyone else here actually watched it.
I like Max Tech because they actually do those tests. Not just run Cinebench and other benchmark tools. But actually export video/images and perform work.

I don't know what 'tabs' you are using. I don't use my Ryzen 9 system for desktop computing for a long time since the original M1 (non-pro/max) came out last year, because it is good enough that I don't need a desktop. It was not the case when I was using an Intel MacBook Pro, I use my Ryzen 9 system frequently that time because I cannot stand the noise, the heat, and the slowness.

And if you are asking some real-world benchmarking, let me reference some workload I'm doing everyday. My team is developing an SDK written in Javascript. To build, or package that SDK, it would take ~14.7-15.1 seconds on my co-worker's 10700K, it would take ~8.8-9.1 seconds on my own 3900X, and guess how much time does it take on my M1? ~5-5.3 seconds. NodeJS is not an 'Apple Software', and all the systems I referenced to compare is modern and fast to my standard. Why I want to power on my 3900X machine if it is even slower than M1 for my use case?

Ryzen 9 5900X is much faster than 3900X. Even because it could overclocked to 4.5 ghz all core and all cores using the same cache.
I had the 3900X before. Maybe you should use pcie 4.0 nvme ssd for your 3900x to increase the speed of your system.

For lower noise buy a Noctua cooler. My system is pretty quiet. All Noctua fans and Noctua cpu cooler.

So, not only is OP wrong, he’s a cellardweller gamer with no inkling of how technology works?
Or
A troll?

Either way I’m losing IQ points reading this thread.

Most Apple fans dont know how technology works, so they think mac is state of the art. Pc hardware is much more advanced as this cheap arm cpu. I dont talk about cheap pc's. I mean pc's which are in the same price range ;). For 4000 Euros, you could build an Intel Alderlake DDR5 RTX 3090 system, which is repairable. Remember this before you buy a Macbook for your workstation. As i said if you have to use Apple software, you have no choice. In this case don't think about it.
