:p I love things like this in Skyrim; these random, unscripted battles!

Last night I had a mini-quest which involved killing a (blood) dragon, and as the fight started I saw frost attacks flying up from a nearby hill. Went over to join the fun, and pretty soon there were 2 vampires, a Blood dragon, an Elder dragon, myself - oh, and my horse, all involved.

(The sad news was my horse was killed, just as I was completely overburdened with dragon bones/scales. Too stubborn to leave any behind, I walked - overburdened - from Dragontooth Crater all the way to Markath. Damn you, ex-horsey!)

You know the trick on how to turn your follower into a pack mule? Forgive me if you are the one who told me about it, lol.

I'm running into issues with Lydia dieing on me in combat. As previously mentioned a couple times when I accidentally hit her with a shout. But I've got to figure out what level she is (know how to do that?), maybe do the turn-her-loose and then have her rejoin me to reset her level?

Have you upgraded her armor at all? In my game she's wearing the same armor as me, dual enchantments and all! Except I have magic enchantments that allow for free use of magic with no magicka cost and, well, since she's doesn't use magic I gave her more combat oriented ones.

Yes, I have given her new armor. Still working on getting enchantment up to snuff. This was interesting...

If you have an attachment to a certain follower and wish to continue to use him or her after he or she has become obsolete, you can update his or her stats by dismissing the companion, then opening the console, clicking the follower in question, typing "disable" and then typing "enable" without the quotation marks, closing the console, then ask them to rejoin. The follower's inventory will remain unaffected, but his or her stats will all be updated to match the player's current level.

I loved Skyrim so very much ...
... but it's taken a backseat for the time being to SWTOR. >.<

I will finish it, though!

Have fun with SWTOR!

I kind of wish that I tackled the main quest while I was around level 20. I'm nearing the end at level 39 and having to fight off like 5 Draugr Deathlords at the same time.

I loaded up an earlier save and decided to grind another 10 levels or so then come back :(

What level are most of you doing the main quest at?

I'm only level 20, but after making it to Whiterun, I've all but ignored it (read: I've totally ignored it). I don't really plan on starting it soon, unless there's some compelling reason to do so.

I'm at Level 19 and mixing in the Main Quest with Companion Quests, and Winterhold College Quests. I've just reached the point on the Main quest where

spoiler> After proving to Delphine I am dragonborn, she is arranging to get me into a Thalmor cocktail party to find out if the Thalmor have anything to do with dragons in Skyrim. <end spoiler.

^ you still have a fair way to go in the main Dragon Quest.

I did all the winterhold quests pretty early on, your 'reward item' for finishing, combined with Morokei's Mask (100% magic regen) make you pretty lethal magician. I was never was challenged after that, even Giants and Dragons were a breeze.

I'm level 21 now, based mostly on working my smithing up to nearly 100. I haven't done the Bleakfalls Barrow (main) quest yet, but done a bunch of the Companion line and a number in Markath too.

After finishing the Companion line, I think I'll start the main quest. I'm kind of curious about getting a shout!

Have you been collecting Dragon Words? Dragon shouts are cool, but they don't turn you into Super Man. ;)

I'm level 31 and I'm still getting my butt handed to me. So whenever I get into a big fight, I use Sanguine Rose (staff) to summon a dremora lord to fight beside me.

That dude freaking pwns everyone! If he dies, I just summon another one :D

I don't know why these guys still keep killing me, sometimes in one hit! I have full daedric armor and weapons, all at legendary, but I still die.

My guess is I need to get my two-handed and armor skills higher.

Missing/Stretching textures using the cider port

Missing/Stretching textures (outside areas only) using the cider port. Any suggestions or mods to fix this? Has resulted in many cliff falls & glitchy play. cheers

Difficulty affects enemy damage and health. My guess is you're playing it on a higher difficulty setting.

I've only got 1 word (Fire Breath from Dustman's Cairn, Companion quest line) so far, but haven't ever gone looking for them. I need to grind out some dungeons now though--I've had fun leveling smithing up to 90, but I have a number of extra skill points that I want to distribute into my combat skills, but can't due to level requirements. I'm going back the main quest now.

I'm not sure if Skyrim works like this, but in Oblivions (it's predecessor) you had to focus on fighting skill as you leveled.

For Oblivion: if you leveled based on non-combat skills you would have your butt handed to you. My impression is that as you level, mobs level. Mobs just fight, they don't do arts and crafts. ;) So is this how Skyrim works? I know it was talked about and I think I read something about it somewhere, I need to go find it.

Oh lord, I just quite literally laughed out loud. Thanks for making me look like an idiot in front of my coworkers. ;)

Your welcome! :)

You know, in Oblivion you had to sleep to make a level happen. In Skyrim, it just happens. This may indicate less control of these factors. That's why until someone has nailed it down, I'd say it's better to out there fighting as much as possible and spread the crafting out, say do one round of crafting per level...

Need help

Heya all. So I'm stuck. First off when I play now. All that plays is the battle music. It makes it difficult because now I assume I'm being followed by an enemy all the time. Second is what I think is behind the battle music. I've beaten Solitude with the stormcloaks however ulfic and the guards are still outside the doors and I can't get in and finish some missions. I'm so frustrated and of course I cannot reload. I've played too much since the battle. What do I do?

Update: I get caught by guards in the empire warehouse. It's 5 gold bounty. Well worth it. But it still doesn't fix the issue yet.

Thanks - it wasn't me but it was on this thread. I actually never travel with companions (unless as an essential part of a quest). I get emotional when my horse gets killed, never mind a unique companion!

There actually have been a few little things in the game that have bugged me.. I walk into a room with the door wide open, and a guard rushes over and 'arrests' me. For trespassing? How was I to know? On a similar occasion, I was in a room I had been given the key to, and took a coin purse (not Stole, it just said "Take") and I was immediately arrested for stealing.

And every time I enter the Shrine of Talos, I get re-arrested (or at least they try to). I've a few other quests stuck because of bugs too.

But one of my biggest peeves is the number of NPCs who tell me about a task/place/quest, and my map is updated...... but which one? I have dozens of locations on my map, which one was just added?

Don't have any. I save before caves and some quests but I only save over old saves. I don't have any saves that go far back enough. Sadly. I hope try fix this.

While I haven't experienced that bug with the Battle of Solitude, I've had about a half-dozen quests bug for me, including a number during the Companion quest line--all of which have required me to go back to a previous save and re-do the line. Annoying, but seemed to be the only way to move forward.

So I take it the game is pretty good? :D

Really thinking about getting it. All I have heard is glowing reviews from sites and the people I talk to.

Sandman. If you are a fan of previous Elder Scroll games or a fan of open world RPG's odds are you will enjoy this entry much like the rest of us in this thread. A great number of us have put many hours into this game (221 hours myself, lol) and are still finding new things to do!

Now thats not to say there are some bugs and some wonky things going on. If you read through the whole thread you'll see some people talking about quest bugs and some weird happenings. Its true, they do happen. Some of them though are fixable by loading a previous save so just make sure you press F5 and quick save on a regular basis and you should have a grand time in Skyrim!

I like having company that acts as my tank, which Lydia does. I'm sure you know the mechanics, but I save before every big fight, and the only time Lydia has died was when I accidentally hit her with a spell. The spell does not kill her outright, but the mob beating on her does kill her. No fight I've faced so far was so difficult that I could not stand a re-do. Recently I reset her specs and she holds up better in fights.. It is silly, but I like having a companion and I am attached to her.

Being arrested for walking through an open door is strange and must be a glitch. I've not had that happen to me, although I have been arrested for picking a lock to enter a residence. Usually my intent is to roust someone out of bed to talk to them about a quest. ;) My impression is that in Skyrim a guard must see you, but I'm not sure about that. In Oblivion, I used a "no psychic guards" mod because it seemed no matter what if you lock picked a residence, a guard appeared out of no where to arrest you.

Why on Earth would they arrest you for entering the Shrine of Talos? I wonder are you aligned with the Stormcloaks?

When someone hands you a quest and says it's marked on the map, the best thing would be to untrack all quests except the one you just got and see if one of those marker arrows appears on the map?

So I take it the game is pretty good? :D

Bug thumbs up.
