If you already own the M2, an upgrade probably shouldn't even be on your radar.
I respectfully disagree. I’ve no idea how anyone, when faced with the instant-pixel response of OLED, would ever be content if they had the choice to upgrade and could do so without economic suffering. Using the 12.9 miniLED M2 iPad Pro is painful now. Scrolling up and down pages, my eyes bleed.

I’m sorry that the mini LED is causing you pain, have you seen your family doctor yet to diagnose it? Maybe get a prescription to help cope with the devastation. If your eyes are bleeding I would go into urgent care.

Thank you. I did go to my family doctor and he prescribed me an OLED iPad. Cleared up those red eyes immediately.

The oled on the new ipp is indeed stunning, too bad the pwm measures are pretty awful. Strong pass for me!

I was in the store today to get a couple of things. I didn't think I would notice or be bothered too much by the screen difference. I was wrong. I walked past the new iPad and honestly did a double take with a "Holy ****, is that the new iPad" to go with it.

Even in the store's bright lights, the screen popped immediately when I saw it, and not even with an older version close to it. I would concur that the screen alone is worth it. If we hadn't been in a rush I would probably have taken one, even with my wife repeating "No" as we were there :)

There are several things I’d rather do with my money than updating to this new iPad. It’s a complementary device for me, so not really a need to upgrade my M2 Pro at all. I’m actually looking at upgrading my Surface Pro 8, but not set in stone yet. I can afford upgrading the iPad Pro comfortably, but it is absolutely pointless for something I use for browsing and reading when not near my Surface.

If I really had to buy something worth $1,000 tonight, I’d probably buy me a nice bottle of a single malt before I upgrading my iPad. Point is, don’t assume that everyone would upgrade if they can. I’m sure there’s a lot of people that won’t just as myself.

no one is forcing you too

i wonder if im not sensitive because im a heavy user and have had it over a week now with no issues.
PWM doesn’t bother me either, at least on the iPhones. I haven’t tried the OLED iPad Pro yet.

Even reading white news pages with black font looks sexy. Those big black typefaces look amazing on this OLED against a white background.

So bright, so clear, so uniform in colour and accuracy. I compared it to my 2018 iPad Pro and the difference is huge.

my reaction to it reminds me of when the ipad first went retina...the way it glows and just everything pops off the screen

For me personally, OLED alone wasn't enough. It was the totality of the improvements: OLED, M4, landscape camera, better keyboard, lighter 13 inch model, 80 percent charging feature (not sure if other models support it), Apple Pencil Pro with new features, Nano option, 11 now matches the 13 in screen specs.

Unfortunately the iPad3 did not really have the power to drive the new resolution and performance broke down after a few updates.

80 percent charging requires M2 or higher afaik whereas 9 cores should be enough 😁

Exactly. Not everyone can justify spending $1.5K on a YouTube and Google Chrome machine. I gaurantee you that 99.99% of people who upgraded only use their ipad for Netflix. And the new screen on the new ipad isn't anything groundbreaking or out of this world amazing despite what some try to claim it to be. Samsung OLED screens in tablets have been out for years. Welcome to 2021 Apple.

The new ipad is just piss poor value. There is no way around that. There is nothing that it can do that my current M1 ipad can't do.

I may consider the upgrade in 2026 when Apple releases the M6 6 panel OLED screen with 3000 nits brightness. But then Apple will likely charge $3000 for the 11 Pro.

It's not just the pwm measures being awful. But also the grain, the screen causing nausea and sleepiness (lots of threads on Reddit covering this), the text being less crisp than the M1 ipads, the vibrating speakers, worse sound, quality control issues, panel lottery. The list goes on and on. It's a defective product that should be recalled.

I’ve gotten literally none of these issues on every M4 iPad I’ve purchased and every store model I’ve seen 🤔 luck of the draw 5-10 times? Which of these issues are you seeing on your M4?
