You do realize this entire website/forum is about Apple products right? So why are you spending time spouting to this audience about your preference for Samsung products? No one is interested. Seems like a massive waste of your time.

iPads tank on resale, already here on FBM used for $3-400AUD off retail.
One I asked why selling said they like their laptop better.

Do they really tank that much? I always see used ipad pros for sale here with the sellers asking for 90% of MSRP/what they paid.

M4 definitely superior screen thanks to Tandem OLED
Whether people appreciate the screen depends on what iPad you had previously
But more importantly what you are using the iPad for that determines how improved the screen appears to be

I am a big OLED fan after picking up a 77" LG3 TV last year. I have been wanting to upgrade my 12.9" M1 and finally got around to picking up a 13" M4 and wow is that panel nice! So nice that I am now also considering upgrading my M2 11 for the screen as well.

Where?

Do you have links/sources? Because I certainly don‘t see that on mine (12.9“ M1, 11“ M4).
No need for sources. people have taken photos of the subpixel layout and it’s like many oleds. 2 subpixels per pixel compared to the usual 3 subpixels per pixel (on all the other iPads).

This means that, assuming the resolution is the same or very close to the same, the old iPads will have a sharper image (higher “true” resolution due to more subpixels)

but here’s a picture in case you’re curious. It’s quite a disappointment that apple did not increase the resolution so that the new OLED iPads could look as crisp as previous ipad models. Sort of goes against the whole “retina” screen idea that they launched over a decade ago.

We‘ve already been there. There are clearly 3 subpixels per pixel (RGB).

Pentile OLED displays have twice as many greens than they have blues and reds.

Whichever is doubled doesn’t matter. Having twice the greens doesn’t fix the issue.

It means that for every “pixel” of resolution you get R/G or B/G.. Sorry I made one small mistake but the fact of the matter is that this still equates to lower subpixel count overall.

We‘ll just have to disagree, then.

Also, have you seen the new OLED iPads displays IRL? They are every bit as sharp as the miniLED ones, but with better blacks and higher contrast. They are just phenomenal.

Not to my eyes. To me images and video looks absolutely amazing, but test looks fuzzier for sure compared with my M2 Mini LED.

Tandem OLED is brand new. It's probably going to get better....but we might have to wait 2 years for that.

Amusing to read this thread. Analysis paralysis. Especially from people that don’t even want to own one. It is no different than a home theater site every time a new panel or projector is released.

I was a professional photographer and have dual calibrated monitors and MacBook Pro laptops. I am a home theater enthusiast with a professionally calibrated 77-inch LG OLED TV and JVC 4K Laser Projector.

I bought my wife a 13-inch iPad Pro Wi‑Fi + Cellular 1TB with nano-texture glass as an upgrade to her 2015 12.9-inch iPad Pro. She absolutely LOVES it. The anti-glare properties are impressive. I’ve always preferred matt screens for this reason. I’ve compared it to my calibrated M2 Max with 16-inch Liquid Retina XDR display² and it looks equal to my trained eye and better to my wife.

I haven’t and don’t need to watch influencer videos and could care less what others don’t feel is a price/value justification. It has been a brilliant purchase for us.

I've seen the M4 in person and I have no interest in having one. I wasn't impressed by it. Pay all that money for an ipad that I already have? The Samsung interests me much more especially for a lot less money.

I returned the Samsung S9 Ultra as I didn't like the glossy display - too much reflection. I find my M4 13" to be superior.

Not to deny your experience, but if I compare with my M1 Pro, text is just as sharp. Also, there were tons of reviews of the new iPads and I don't recall a single one reporting this "fuzzier text" problem.

looking at the picture you linked there are 3 subpixels, or am I missing something?

I was in my Best Buy yesterday to return something and I was talking with the reps there. They told me that the new ipad isn't selling very well since it came out and they had lots of stock. One rep then said "It's too expensive....most people won't care for the OLED".

He couldnt have said it better.

You probably hold the forum record for posts denigrating the new iPads - it seems to be a passion for you. Were you hurt by one in some way?

The M4 iPad murdered their father and assaulted their mother. It also infected them with the bubonic plague. How dare you bring this up!

Based on one, most, or all of the following criteria; average age, time on job, amount of training, turnover, department specialization, etc., Best Buy has proven to be the de facto standard for technical expertise. Isn’t that why discerning AV enthusiasts always hire the Geek Squad to set up and calibrate their high end Home Theaters?

Still you are here, given your obvious disapproval of the iPad.

Samsung's s9 is like a mirror. the reflection is terrible. Screen brightness is not even as bright as the new m4. Deepsix truly has eye problems

I was looking to purchase one before the new ipads came out. The new ipads kept getting delayed so i was seriously tempted to get the samsung. But once the new m4 came out, the difference in quality was obvious. Only thing useful is the expandable storage.
