Of course you did. :p

It's probably tougher for both you and MRU, to identify phones you did NOT have. ;)

I think MRU is way ahead of me! I will probably tone it down this year and only get 3 or 4 instead of the 15 phones I had last year....

I really hope Samsung doesn't do this with the Note 5. It might make me rethink Samsung and possibly going back to Apple

In a way, we should also blame Google. Android is becoming less open and more held with a tighter grip from them. Even the move to ART over Dalvik created app compatible issues and bigger larger files that couldn't be completely moved to an SD card. Google also forces us with a ton of their own bloatware. Perhaps Samsung should abandon Android but have their apps still compatible with Tizen similar to BB10. It was pretty obvious since the Nexus S (removed SD card) and Nexus 4 (removed swappable battery) that Android became less versatile. Google is also the one to blame here.

At the end of the day it's about one thing. It's always about money.

By the way while we are invalidating inane arguments, Sony had a bottom headphone jack on their A810 in 2007. Did Apple copy them? Can we just move on?

Holes anywhere on a plastic and metal device that makes noise........someone copied that. The fact that they are rectangular...copied.

Agree.....let's move on. Such is life and business. Early bird gets the worm but the second mouse scores the cheese.

But you can't put an SD card or a spare battery into either of the phones Apple make though? What would be the difference?

My thinking is similar. I left iphone in order to get those extra goodies (among other things). Taking them away makes me look at iphone again more seriously

I guess for some, all things being equal, the user experience of iOS might be less painful than using TW. ;)

It's all where people find the most value in their device. Some are willing to accept compromises in software for hardware features and for others, it's just the opposite. We all have difference needs/wants out of our devices.

I think ultimately Samsung is a shameless company with culture of copying. This is a big problem in asian countries and China is notorious for it. I think the issue that most have with Samsung is the fact that a few years ago they made a commercial bashing iPhone with minor upgrades like LTE and the headphone jack move, now they blatantly copy the iPhone hardware and a lot of the software design. Why? Because it benefits them to have a phone on the market that can confuse would be customers into purchasing an iPhone like clone.

I know a lot of folks are emotionally invested in Samsung and will go into a nerd rage whenever someone speaks ill of Samsung, but the truth of the matter is Samsung's on executive speak about trying to be more like Apple and hint about copying. Samsung Pay? Have you look at the newer touch ID clone? What about the lock screen which looks just like Apple's?

Aside from the bottom grill. The S6 looks nothing like an iphone. Not sure how its a blatant copy of the iphone hardware since each phone uses different materials and parts (and a lot of Apple's hardware is from Samsung.) Samsung Pay? Who cares, Apple copied the name from Loop Pay. Touch ID clone? Touch ID isn't even Apple's creation, they just bought out AuthenTec and slapped their name on it to prevent other manufacturers from using it.

I think some just like to have blinders on and you cannot convince them the sky is blue, no matter how much you try. I don't think people realize how dumb they sound when they say the iPhone and S6 look alike or Samsung copied apple.

Last night made me appreciate MicroSD a lot more. My tab is rooted/rom'd, last night I made a mistake when trying a different rom, my first all these years. There was the rom and update and I thought the update was like version 2 or whatever and downloaded only that, didn't realize the actual rom zip was one thing and the update was another zip and they both had to be flashed. I had just before deleted the previous zips, so when I flashed the update it got stuck as there was no rom. Luckily pulled the SD out, put in my phone, downloaded the original zip and put back in the tablet and everything was a-ok.

You killing me SpineDoc and I kinda like you. If you do a quick google on "Samsung copies iPhone", you will clearly see the software and hardware mimicking. Some folks refuse to hear anything that may actually be the truth when talking about the brand they worship so I guess I'll leave it alone.

This can also be achieved with a micro USB OTG adapter and any USB stick.

Hey man I'm just having fun. ;) But seriously, look at 2 pictures of the phones next to each other, it's just common sense. I mean it's not as blatant as say Apple copying the notification center or something like that. You can't take similarities that EVERY smartphone has and say Samsung it copying them, it just doesn't make sense.

Yup. Looks nothing like Apple right lol

My point is that mainly Samsung is following apples business model. Along with taking cues for their s6, I just read that Samsung will start doing authentication chips similar to Apple for accessories as well.

It's all about money. Not being negative, following Apple for profitability. It's just funny cuz Samsung spent millions publicly denouncing the features on iPhone that they are now implementing.

Yeah I agree they did copy the Apple headphones. What I don't understand is why anyone would want to copy the god AWFUL design of the iPhone headphones, that's got to be the worst design ever. I'm disappointed Samsung didn't create something innovative.

I don't think Samsung follows Apple's business model that much, although they do seem to be focusing on the high end at the moment they still have tons of low end cheap phones. I agree they took some cues like internal memory upgrades.

I'm still confused though why anyone cares. The entire "copied" debate is such a humungous joke and makes the guys who keep screaming it look more and more moronic each passing minute. Let it go, enjoy the technology you choose to buy, understand that tech companies copy each other ALL the time and that's how business is run, just like the things Apple copied from other phones itself.

Fair enough, we all have different needs so I can't argue with your reasoning at all.

Hah! Yes indeed(especially with a jailbreak), no more google play edition is another reason to go back to iPhone :p

Where is the spiritual successor to the gs 4 ge ? :(

See now you are acknowledging the blatant copying when it's thrown in your face with pictures. I don't think anyone truly cares like you say, it's just disgusting business tactics. The real question is why are their so many loyal fans willing to invest in this behavior?

We all just in the forum yucking it up killing time. No harm, no foul.

Me too. I love the smoothness of iOS, the camera, but I hate not being able to customize my home screens with widgets when I am using iPhones. I also like being able to download music "illegally" from sites and finding them in my phone and unzipping or unraring them on my Note. Couldn't do that when I had an iPhone.

Well, it's "disgusting" on BOTH sides, Apple makes a living off of copying other designs. But for me it's not disgusting, it's just business and a SMART company copies as far as it can without infringing on patents and innovates that copying in their own form.

I also never said Samsung never copied the headphones, we were strictly speaking about the S6 versus the iPhone 6, which I still say have very very LITTLE similarity between them. The only similarities they have are a group of holes drilled into metal, and even then the pattern and number of holes are different. So here we are on these forums, all these people arguing over a grouping of metal drilled holes on the end of the phone no one ever sees. Lol, you gotta laugh at the hilarity of it.

Completely agree. A GPE version of the S6 may very well be the ideal Android smart phone. The problem with any devices that have 'stock' (or close to it as found on the Moto X) is there are always hardware compromises, especially with the camera. They never seem to have any industry leading hardware components. For all the grief I give Samsung, the cameras in their latest generations of phone appear to be every good (if not better) as those on the iPhones and it's been proven their displays are now the best. Put stock Android on the S6 and I'll quickly become a Samsung smartphone fan. :D

Unfortunately, probably as much chance of that happening as getting a version that runs iOS. ;)
