Well, I just came from BestBuy and am very impressed about the S24 Ultra. To me, it is very light for such a big phone. The flat screen is great, especially with the s pen. They only had the gray color (personally, not a fan) so I couldn't comment. In fact, I'm still deciding on a color. Of course, the screen looks great. I didn't test the brightness but I can't wait. Also, the little test I did of the camera was very good but not representative, yet. I'm going to order soon.

They are saying 4 times more scratch resistant than competitors glass and specifically saying that putting the phone in your pocket with keys did NOT result in ANY micro scratching!! They also said it is 3 times more drop resistant than competitors glass.

So to answer your question it seems you aren't giving up anything.

If this glass lives up to corning's claims then it is going to be a game changer. It will filter down to the other models in the s series as time goes on.

I also have a 24+ on pre-order. But the 24 Ultra's anti-reflective and scratch-resistant screen is tempting. I want to see 3rd-party tests of this - and I do hope that those tests verify Corning's claims!

I believe the claims to a degree. I am sure it is more scratch resistant than Victus 2 and I am sure it has better anti reflective properties that frankly have been missing from corning glass for a long time.

That being said glass is well, glass. How they are able to increase scratch resistance 4 times while also increasing drop fracture resistance by 3 times is particularly interesting to me.

I agree with you. I will wait to make any final judgement until I see real world tests. If everything that Corning says is true it will be pretty awesome stuff!!

What is it about the grey you didn’t like?

Has anyone bought a Samsung charger since they stopped including them with phones and tablets? I bought one to go with my newish tablet and it failed after 3 months of use! It was a genuine one bought from Samsung themselves. The charger was made in Vietnam so I bought another one off a private seller on Ebay which was part of a sealed & unopened Z Flip 4 starter kit as I noticed that it was made in China. Well what do you know, that one failed last night after 4 months! WTH??

I have never, ever had a charger fail. Not in my lifetime regardless of the manufacturer so to have two genuine Samsung 25w chargers fail in little over 6 months is scandalous. So they don't include them with their devices anymore, we have to pay extra for them and they're of massively inferior quality? To say that I'm disappointed is putting it mildly.

Go with those multi-port GaN chargers instead which are more useful, unless you need the portability of a small charger.

Intriguing though it is even more money, size is just too big and the corners too sharp compared to the 24+.

I've had my 23+ in a cheap credit card slider case with no screen protector since October. I grab it from my pocket all the time to snap photos and often do so while riding mountain bikes (one handed lol). No scratches on it so good enough for my purposes.

I want to love the S24+ but I feel like cameras are such a step down from the Ultra and the price isn't much less it seems.

No camera improvement is why I went from s23+ to iPhone 15 pro max. I wanted a phone with better hardware than the pixel (i.e. battery, modem etc) and a better camera than my s23+, but the ultra is just that bit too big, and back to iOS I go.

I went from OP 8T to S23+ and liked the camera improvements (still catch a bit of my finger in photos occasionally). After many past years of iOS, just can't stand the UI anymore.

Remain on the fence about going from S23+ -> S24+. Getting the higher quality display like the Ultra is a step in the right direction. Hoping it is not too oversaturated compared to 23+.

I'll order gray of I decide in favor of throwing another ~$350 at an upgrade.

S23 sucked with my dog, fur looked like an oil painting unless lots of light. Not the worst camera I've ever used TBF.

My S24 Ultra and the free Watch, case and screen protector are still saying the 24th (Wednesday) however it’s still stuck on “Preparing for dispatch” like it has since the day after I ordered. Hoping it arrives before Friday, I’m going away for the weekend and would like to test the camera and everything before deciding if i will keep it, or return it for the Pixel 8 Pro.

I'll get an odd result on occasion when I use the regular camera. More often, I'm shooting with Expert RAW and its been decent.

so do you use expert raw most of the time on the samsung? I've definitely struggled sometimes with the "full auto default mode"
