I wasn't expecting the S24U to feel this much smoother than the P8P when scrolling in apps.
My biggest issue with the Pixel is stuttering in Chrome, YouTube, the Google Feed and some other popular apps.

The S24 is incredibly smooth. Almost as good as the iPhone 15 PM.

The battery capacity is the same in both phones but the S24U lasts longer. I got almost ten hours screen time yesterday. I've never gotten over six on the Pixel.

I guess this is thanks to the Snapdragon chip.

I still prefer the UI and camera on the Pixel. The vibration motor also feels slightly better.
The stuttering is what made me return the galaxy s23 (Exynos version, I live in Europe) and the pixel 7, I blame poor performance of the exynos (the tensor is an exynos in disguise) or lack of optimisation, I won't be burned again.

I pulled the trigger on an S24+ rather than take the extra storage I took the £100 off, as I don’t really need 512GB. Also it’s Marble grey with no back in stock date from Amazon. Plus I’ve done it over 12 payments. 256GB is still twice my OnePlus.

What decided me is I think after five and half years the OnePlus 6 battery is starting to die plus the phone doesn’t always turn on. Both of these have started happening in the last month or so.

I'm in Europe too and will not but another Exonys phone unless they improve a lot.
It seems like the Pixel 10 next year will get a chip made by TMSC.

I really need a good photo for this ambient weather thing... what's everyone using on theirs?

For those of you with the S24 and the new Quick Share, how can you now transfer files to a Mac?

With NearDrop, which seems is going away, I can send files just like Airdrop. But I have to have installed NearDrop in my Mac. Is this still possible?

I read now it has to be through a QR or URL.

I was using a photo of myself and my best friend, she’s a bit shorter than me but the rain still looks like it’s hitting us both. Nice Little feature.

Found a frustrating issue!
With the S23 Ultra I had it plugged into my car to use Android Auto. I could press the microphone button and say 'Play my driving playlist' and it would load up on the screen via YouTube music and start playing.
With the S24 Ultra, it does the same, except it won't automatically start playing. I have to press the play button on the screen.

I reset the car settings, re-installed Android Auto a few times, everything works except that niggling glitch.

This is an interesting article. I'm not sure how they can say the S24 camera is better than the pixel then post comparisons with moving subjects and the pixel shots look leagues ahead and usable. In bright day light too! I'd understand lower light but in daylight that's surprising.
Although in the other comparisons I see where the S24 U is better (zoom, obviously).

I take my hat off to them for doing that test, though. Most reviewers choose the same still scenes to do comparisons, not real world examples like moving kids and pets which is what lots of regular users will be using their phone camera for.

I have to say I’m disappointed in my S24 Ultra camera. Photos look about the same as on my iPhone 14 Pro Max (none zoom obviously). I’m not surprised the Pixel did better in standard shots.

I sense a return is on the cards?

I’m still enjoying mine at the moment.

It’ll get its first camera run out at the weekend. I’m looking forward to using the AI slow mo at my daughters football match.

I have been impressed with the S24U camera. I have not had near the blurry photos in some of his examples.
When my animals are moving and running around I get blurry photos no matter what camera i use.
For me and my uses the S24U camera is better than the P8P. it is just a better device all around IMHO.

Interesting. Glad it's working out for you. I guess I just find that article strange to declare the camera better then say "oh apart from this scenario" which is what most people use their phones for... But I like that they've drawn attention to it as I still think Samsung needs to sort shutter speed out.

There are features that make up for it...BUT...it has been an issue long enough. They do need to fix shutter speed.
There is something in Goodlock to speed up shutter speed.

I think so yea, I'm going to give it until next week (around the 7th when my return window closes) and then decide. At the moment I don't feel like the S24 Ultra is a good as it's being made out to be in certain areas. Now I don't want anyone to get me wrong here, I like the phone itself, the s pen is handy, I like the feel of the phone in hand, the ant-reflective screen is great and there are more features than you can drown in a bath.
However the AI features are just not as good as they are being made out to be, for example when taking a photo and using the AI to move a subject or person, you can definitely tell that it's been edited, it's messy and doesn't fill in very good. There are times when it does work ok, but they few and far between.

There's no best take feature which I was hoping Samsung would copy or work with Google to bring over, but my over all favourite feature is circle to search, I find that really useful along with the summarise feature.

I think the S24 Ultra is a good phone if you loved the S23 Ultra and want some first gen AI features that hopefully Samsung polish over time. I'm not knocking the S24 Ultra, for many people it will be a device, I just don't think it's for me.

My Pixel 8 Pro sold on Swappa this morning for $680 which I didn't expect, after fees and shipping more like $620. Still better than the $450 Samsung would've given me!

I returned the Watch 6 Classic that I ordered with the phone, re-ordered the 47mm size instead and took advantage of $200 trade in for my AW6, which is generous (Best Buy offers $70).

My only remaining Apple devices are the 15PM and AirPods Pro 2. The S24+ may finally sway me completely away from Apple for the foreseeable future. I'm really enjoying the phone and the customization options. I stopped iMessage etc cold turkey a week ago and don't care about any media issues. Not my problem, iPhone folks can deal with it.

My issue with ringers and notifications playing over both Bluetooth and phone speaker while earbuds are connected persisted when I did a factory reset of the phone + set up as new. It occured on the P8P and S24+ until I installed Good Lock and Samsung Sound Assistant on the S24+. Seems to be an Android quirk (a big one) thankfully addressed by GL.

The kitchen sink approach Samsung takes is only a bit of a headache on initial set up / accounts / settings. Once done, phone is a champ and I appreciate all of the options. Also, DynamicSpot app is awesome, all of my apps pop up Dynamic Island style which is great for notifications. The funny part is it fades away and just the tiny pinhole remains, unlike the eyesore DI on the iPhone.

I returned mine and back on my 15 PM. Think I’ve just started to get a bit tired of swapping phones and it doesn’t really do it for me like it once did. Phone was great, especially the flat screen, but back in the apple only fold with my watch ultra 2 and AirPods Pro.

That's understandable, it can be a bit annoying using two separate OS's and separate devices. I'm just not getting on with the Watch 6 either, If it hadn't of been free as part of the pre-order deal, I certainly would have been sending the watch back. In my opinion, the Apple Watch is a lot better.
