Filing a claim with care + was a absolute nightmare.

My Fold 4 screen broke on its own, and I had to fight like hell to get it fixed. I live in Hawaii, and the Indian call center reps repeatedly told me that I was only covered in the United States, and then hanging up on me.

I had to start sending emails to the CEO to get any motion.
Are you sending it off to get fixed or some location nearby?

At this stage... Samsung might give you a Fold 5 and do you have insurance for it?

Very early days and I want to avoid that "its new so better" thing but I'm cautiously optimistic :) I always felt I had a bit of an unresponsive finger print sensor/screen and wondered if it was the screen protector but this update has made a real difference there. I appreciate I may be the only person in the world to see it but there was a lag there isnt now.

Vividness fine but I'll keep mine on natural as usual and I'm appreciating the somewhat more natural colours all round from screen to camera.

The camera is the main thing for me and I don't bother with the scientific comparisons because other people will do that, but just putting s8pro/ip15pm/s24u on my 3 phone holder and taking as close to the same shot as reasonable, the s24u WAS definitely coming in behind the other two on a lot of shots and when it did badly it was really bad.... now it feels like it could actually take top spot.

One of my huge problems with the camera before was taking a backlit subject.... apple would do a decent job of keeping the highlights in the backlight as well as exposing well for the subject. Samsung always seemed to just blow out the backlight and usually stuff in front too. This update really seems to have made a positive change! I shouldn't say fix until I've taken way more images but I'm smiling so far :)

Theming the S24U, is it possible to theme the Phone app? It's a bit too drab and colorless, I want OLED black backgrounds, but would like the names and stuff have vibrant punchy colors, not just the muted blues it has stock.

How do I go about theming the Phone app?

You can buy an icon pack and change the phone icon.

You can go into settings, themes and check out the themes available but those will be for the entire phone.

If you just want to chang the phone icon you need a new icon pack. You can get them free or paid from the Google store or Samsung store.

Got the latest update as well. Colors actually seem cooler too me now even in natural with adaptive color tone turned on.

Haven't tested cameras and unfortunately the color banding on gradients hasn't improved. I think it is a hardware issue which is a shame since the screen is damn near perfect otherwise.

I think it will be a mixed bag. More variables to grouse about for some undoubtedly. I find low RGB and lowest vivid settings to be an improvement. Much beyond that causes my eyes to pop out of the lol
Have you noticed any improvements in the camera? the screen issues I think people are hoping can be fixed with the software update (the grainy screen issue im referring too).

Haven't snapped any photos.

Will be this evening (a dear friend is retiring). I'm bringing DSLR as well, for more flash and possibly depth of field in some shots ;)

The display is certainly more vibrant no matter the setting now. Guess you either please the burning retina crowd or the natural crowd. As a default I prefer natural but there are times when I want punch so it is nice that Samsung listened to feedback and implemented a change so quickly. Rather impressed by that actually. Now if they could do a software fix for the color banding I would be very happy.

No matter, I like this display a lot. I like the more natural tones that you can select. I like having options.

Also in wallpaper settings under color palette you scroll down and there is a toggle switch to use a monochrome icon set color matched to your wallpaper.

My s24 ultra had a screen defect and still waiting for it to be sent back and fixed. So it's been not a good experience with my s24 ultra

I may decide to sell it when it does return. Will see

Reviews from the new update don't seem great. 3x portrait mode is worse and night mode is also worse.

I may sell s24 ultra and just get Xiaomi 14 ultra instead. Trade in my 13 ultra in the process

Will see

Z fold 6 is on my radar if the rumours of wider screen is correct

So I visited the store today to check the S24U out again and compare it to my 15PM. Its a tough battle..
TLDR I did not buy the Ultra, simply because these are very few things that are better than on iPhone or would make me switch, its just not worth the hassle of having to sell my iPhone, transferring data and so on, so my eyes are on 16PM and S25U next year. However few things I liked more than on iPhone for sure..

Not sure how it's hassle to sell or transfer data, you get over $1050 trade-in for an IP15PM 512gb and $100 voucher plus offers on buds or watch and smart switch makes it easy to transfer date, could not be easier :)

yeah I was talking to @mjschabow about that. If someone hasn't used an iphone as their main phone for a decent time, maybe they'd find it easier, but for those of us who have, we sometimes end up trying to configure the s24u to act like an iphone which is kinda crazy just to get the bits that we really do love on android like the back button, the configurability etc.

For many people I think there just comes a time when they say forget it, just easier to stick with the iPhone for now.

I find it weird that Google has partnered with Samsung to bring their AI features to the S24 series worldwide, yet if I buy a Pixel here in the UK, I won't get all those features that are available on the S24 Ultra but made by Google. Make it make sense.

Samsung is chucking money at Google for these AI features, hence why they coming to the S24 worldwide & this is why your may have to pay for these AI features in the future probably roundabout the time the S26 Ultra comes out.

Google always prioritize the US first & foremost with it features for the Pixel, if you live outside the US then it's a lottery to what features you might or might not get, even though we all paying roughly the same price.

I have a Pixel 8 Pro it's a good phone, but after some consideration i don't think I'll go with the Pixel 9 Pro because of this reason, I can see it getting a lot of new AI features that other Countries will probably not see, which will more likely end up on the S24 Ultra & S25 Ultra next year.

So basically if you want all of Google's future AI features & you live outside of the US then buy a Samsung not a Pixel.🤪

Because:
1. I don’t live in US, I live in Iceland where price of S24U is roughly 1800$
2. No trade in available
3. I would have to sell 15PM by myself to someone, getting maybe 900$ if I’m lucky - the rest I am paying from my own pocket.
4. There is no bonus here or any kind of discount

It sucks.

Btw I was really surprised by the AI features in S24U. Doesn’t seem like gimmick to me, it would completely replaced my Lightroom subscription, the search feature is handy too.
