Interesting that the first Samsung Android device to finally get seamless Android updates is the A55, not a high end device.

I'm sure they are trying it on lesser known models before rolling it out to the most popular models to reduce any impact

Sure seems like a good idea ;)

Wonder why it took them so long to adopt this less disruptive approach.

According to this it may not be available to S24 devices that have already shipped. Though it seems a leap by the author to assume that S24s haven’t already been configured for it.

What seems to be clear is that the Galaxy S24 series won’t be getting the feature. Or, at least, not the ones that have been sold so far. The feature has to be configured before the device ships to users. That’s Google’s standing recommendation for A/B updates.

Nice write up on the S24 Ultra camera by a well known photographer

Nice write up for sure, also the pictures taken look amazing. Apparently there will be a big camera update next month for the S24 Ultra, this I according to Ice Universe on Twitter. It seems Samsung are really putting the effort into the cameras and updates.

I don't know. I have seamless updates on my Pixel and I honestly can't stand it. It takes forever just for a small update. The way Samsung does it is faster and in my opinion simpler. I know there are advantages the way Google does it but in real world use I still prefer the way Samsung does it on the s24 series and others. I don't mind if I never get the "feature" the a55 has, in fact, I prefer it.

Ditto :)

I could not care any less if we never get this

In fact I always thought Samsung were daft to date the update as current month, if they simply called March update as April everyone would think/perceive they are a month ahead and stop all those silly comments on not received this months one etc LOL

Additionally with Samsung you often get additional updates progressively and not just security ones

Anyone seen the planned 6.1 UI update for other high end Galaxies like my Fold 5, could of used circle to search numerous times now :)

I've just realized that the S24+ does not have the same stock video wallpapers than the Ultra? Seems odd. Previous years the whole lineup had the same wallpapers...

Each device in the series has it's own wallpapers this year. I think it is kind of cool. But honestly, stock Samsung Wallpapers have never been great. If Apple has anything on Samsung directly it is better stock wallpapers. Which is saying a lot because I don't love the stock wallpapers that much on iPhone. LOL At least it is easy to change it to whatever you want.

Pixel has better wallpaper selection but you can get most of those on samsung phones anyway.

Anybody know, specifically in the UK, if you send a phone in to samsung as a trade in but then return the phone you've traded that phone against, what happens?

So they just send the trade in phone back to you?

Generally you lose your trade in at least here in the US.

Happened to me. Had to call Samsung customer service and they gave me a credit towards another purchase which was acceptable to me.

I am sure they will take care of you but I would call Samsung customer service about your specific case.

Just got it in Europe too!

Anyway it has been almost a month since I switched from 15PM to S24U and love it. Can't say anything bad about 15PM, but it's a boring brick compared to Samsung's flagship.
The fact I can have free Spotify and YouTube Premium and also LIGHTROOM for free is crazy. I love Android now.

Just download YouTube Revanced for free YouTube, Lightroom premium Apk, and Spotify premium Apk. Revanced and LR have their own websites to download it from
Thanks.

Vanced I was aware of. I’ll probably just pay up for a years mobile Lightroom subscription. Not keen on installing random APK’s. Who knows what extra ‘goodies’ come bundled with them. Think I’d rather play safe.

Anyway… back on track…

I believe you don’t get it back, a lot of the trade in phones are recycled and broken down. You may get a credit if you phone Samsung.

Are you thinking for returning your S24 Ultra?

Hi All!

Long-time Apple user here, iPhone 15 Pro Max owner, but I've owned a Note 10, S22 Ultra, Z Fold 2 and 5 at various times between 2019 and now. Always alongside my primary iPhone. I have 4 AppleTVs, 5 HomePods (4 Mini + 1 original). Every time I buy a Z Fold I use it for a few months and then realize the foldable form factor just doesn't benefit me at all and becomes more of a nuisance than a feature. For example, never having my S-Pen because the solutions for keeping it on the phone itself are absolutely abysmal.

This past weekend I traded in my Z Fold5 for an S24 Ultra and I think this is my favorite phone that I have ever owned. iPhone has always been my primary device and I'd just own the Samsungs because they were neat and I liked a few things about them, but the S24 Ultra is just such a nice looking device and such a pleasure to use that my iPhone has become such an afterthought already in just a few days.

A decade and a half ago I was the biggest Apple Fanboy you'd ever meet, but I've just slowly gotten more and more tired of Apple's nonsense. I really love the vertical integration in Apple's ecosystem, the simplicity of a lot of aspects of it, and when things "just work" they work really really well. But I also think Apple treats developers like trash, and some of the little limitations they impose just get in the way and make it really difficult to enjoy iOS, and make it even more difficult to leave iOS.

Samsung has copied enough of the things I like about iOS while also making hardware I think is more aesthetically pleasing and Android is more than good enough now, and the S24 Ultra has already solidified that for me in just 72 hours. Even their implementation of Always On Display seems better to me. The stock wallpaper animations are more thoughtful and detailed, where Apple's are straight up lazy.

Anyway, this was just some word-vomit of my thoughts but I figured I'd say them in a place where people would 'get it.'

On X there are some users reporting that after installing the new April update the phone heats up more, mainly during charging and using the camera.

Have you guys with the April update noticed this?
