Hi All!
Long-time Apple user here, iPhone 15 Pro Max owner, but I've owned a Note 10, S22 Ultra, Z Fold 2 and 5 at various times between 2019 and now. Always alongside my primary iPhone. I have 4 AppleTVs, 5 HomePods (4 Mini + 1 original). Every time I buy a Z Fold I use it for a few months and then realize the foldable form factor just doesn't benefit me at all and becomes more of a nuisance than a feature. For example, never having my S-Pen because the solutions for keeping it on the phone itself are absolutely abysmal.
This past weekend I traded in my Z Fold5 for an S24 Ultra and I think this is my favorite phone that I have ever owned. iPhone has always been my primary device and I'd just own the Samsungs because they were neat and I liked a few things about them, but the S24 Ultra is just such a nice looking device and such a pleasure to use that my iPhone has become such an afterthought already in just a few days.
A decade and a half ago I was the biggest Apple Fanboy you'd ever meet, but I've just slowly gotten more and more tired of Apple's nonsense. I really love the vertical integration in Apple's ecosystem, the simplicity of a lot of aspects of it, and when things "just work" they work really really well. But I also think Apple treats developers like trash, and some of the little limitations they impose just get in the way and make it really difficult to enjoy iOS, and make it even more difficult to leave iOS.
Samsung has copied enough of the things I like about iOS while also making hardware I think is more aesthetically pleasing and Android is more than good enough now, and the S24 Ultra has already solidified that for me in just 72 hours. Even their implementation of Always On Display seems better to me. The stock wallpaper animations are more thoughtful and detailed, where Apple's are straight up lazy.
Anyway, this was just some word-vomit of my thoughts but I figured I'd say them in a place where people would 'get it.'
