Tim is telling a porkie. I have an apple watch myself but this was nothing more than a me too device.

I happen to like it and think it looks nicer than the competition. All subjective.

I looked at the price. The cheapest Apple Watch is 100$ more than the LG Watch R, so that's hardly a good comparison when it comes to build quality. And I don't see how Wear is just "a touch screen and a button" any more than Apple Watch is just "a touch screen and a digital crown on the side". Seriously, Google made an interface for Wear. Whether it's good or not is up for debate, just like the Apple Watch.

When I bought the watch, it was $300. Maybe it's selling for less now. But the cheapest apple watch is $350. Not quite the $100 difference.

Heard there was a lot of issues with the Apple Watch. Like not working with Apple Pay and sync issues. In the Watch firms they are having a issues.

Then we all know how useless you think wireless charging is....... Wait for it...... How do you charge your apple watch? Do you plug a cable in? Have it next to your nightstand? Lol

The cheapest stainless steel Apple Watch is $450 ;)

Okay, okay, the LGWR doesn't have a sapphire crystal. (Although the SS cased Huawei Watch does.)

OTOH, it does have a bezel to protect the screen, and it has an always-on display. Six of one, etc.

PS. I really like my LGWR ever since I removed the black coating and exposed the stainless steel underneath:

Just the other day I got a double-take from a salesman at an electronics store, who wasn't interested in my daughter's Apple Watch, but wanted to see the always-on, brightly shining watchface on the LGWR. Round displays are the bee's knees :)

Unfortunately every smart watch has the same issue and I won't be able have a bunch cables around the house. It is what it is. I only have one cable for my fitbit, so my inclination is to leave the charging dock by the computer.

As far as apple pay and sync issue, I don't have the watch yet, so I don't know. If there are issues, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I didn't buy the watch for apple pay; could care less about it.

I didn't get the stainless steel and we were talking about the "cheapest" apple watch, which I didn't get either. And yes, they(meaning all smart watches) look nice, but not every style caters to everybody.

I understand. Since you brought up $100, I was half jokingly comparing the black coated stainless steel LG Watch you got your kid, with the stainless steel Apple Watch price... as that seems more fair than comparing to an aluminum version.

Totally agree.

Actually our fellow MR poster, Mr. Michael Goff, brought up the $100 when I mentioned about the LGSW. :) I was commenting on his comment. The AW in your photo looks "small", is that the 38 or 42mm?

I'm pretty sure that was the 42mm Apple Watch.

The LG bezel is 46mm, and its display is about 32mm in diameter.

Apple Watches do tend to look small, especially in real life, partly because the 38/42mm is only in one dimension (the height). The other dimension (width) is much smaller.

That also means that round watchfaces are always much bigger looking on, umm, round displays :)

Exactly, this is a three to four year effort. Apple typically takes a little longer to get things to market to make sure it fits their vision.

You think it's a "me 2" device and Tim is lying?

I just ordered one and can't wait to get it.

It's a great device. I've had mine since launch day and wear it all the time. I hope you enjoy yours but I believe Tim was lying ;)

The watch on the left looks much nicer IMO too. I'm not a fan of smart watches but if I had to have one I'd like one that looked like a real watch. This isn't to say the Apple watch isn't nicely designed too because it is. I just prefer round faces on my timepieces. :)

When I checked at the time, I found it for 250$.

Just my opinion, that LG watch is hideous. The Apple watch in the pic with that 80's yuppie band isn't much better, but on the whole I think the Apple Watch looks better.

Looking forward to real Gen 2 watches from Motorola and Samsung, but LG leaves me cold with that clunky, bulky look.

Do you think Apple watch will sell for less in the near future? I think it'll hold its price for a year.
Aren't they planning an Apple Watch 2 already to be released this fall in time for Christmas? You haven't gotten your watch yet and it will be a generation behind soon. So the resell might not be all that great for first generation Apple watches.

I wouldn't be an early adopter unless I was swimming in disposable income. I'm not even sure that I want or need a smartwatch, and I have been burned twice now with first generation Apple products. I'll see how the Apple Watch takes off and possibly pick up the second or third generation.

Maybe, but we all know how fast the tech industry moves. Gotta at some point just buy something instead of waiting for the next big thing.

yep...thats is how the tech industry works...so the A watch might not hold its value as you stated. The next gen will be out soon and then the value of the first gen will drop considerably. It won't hold it value.

But honestly I don't really care; I don't buy electronics with the expectation they will be worth more than the minerals that they were made from in short order.

I don't understand your non-sequitur. I said they would hold their value for year, you said they probably won't and I said okay maybe agreeing in the middle. You think that's a flip-flop? Ok just wanted to establish a baseline?

"Value" is largely unimportant since I give the phone to AT&T and get a new one fairly often...

You know, I always find these kinds of articles quite amazing...

Does no one consider that in the past 4 years or so there have been some amazing smartphones put out, so much so that not everyone is going to sell or junk their existing phones just to get the latest and greatest. A lot of people are quite happy with their smart phones and aren't looking to upgrade every year.

Some people are on 2 year contracts that aren't going to just dump their phones.

I mean hell, I would love the S6 but I have the Note4 that I plan on riding for at LEAST 2 years.

Were they expecting that all of the sudden a bunch of cabbage patch humans were going to pop up suddenly in dire need of a new smartphone?

I kind of miss the new phone every second year kind of thing, much like Apple does with their re-designs. It gave you time to settle your contract and look forward to something truly different rather than the same form factor with just a bit of jumped up specs and a new OS to make it look shiny.

I miss 12 month contracts. These days if you want something midway through your contract you'll need to buy it outright, like I have done once or twice over the years. It's to be expected though because today's premium smartphones cost a heck of a lot more than the Nokias of old. Still, being stuck with a phone you don't especially like for two years is pretty tough.

Still seems to be selling a lot. I know in two Canadian cities I have been in now, simply because I have places between the two, looking for an upgrade for a family member the S6 and S6 edge 32GB were completely sold out in the cities and also in nearby (<40 mins drive) locations.

Fantastic phone though, absolutely fantastic especially once one holds it in their hand
