until Kingdom Come they'll be making new iPhones each and every year whether you want one or not. Eventually all iPhones will die and when they do, a new iPhone, whichever one that may be, will take its place.
Smartphones are now like cars, not much of anything changes year to year and maybe every 10 years or so they get redesigned... but they're still basically the same.

If apples 500 million iPhone users replaced their aging iPhone every 8 years, apl would d still make zillions of dollars every year. Just because a new model comes out every year doesn't mean someone has to buy it - especially at today's prices.

Why are you here if you don't care? If I didn't care about something I wouldn't frequent sub forums created just to discuss that very thing, and then make attention seeking posts. This is a worthless thread.

You sound like your feelings got hurt. All he is saying is that he feels like there’s no more thrill. That’s all

I think everyone has his/her right to have their opinion. I too don’t care for the new iPhone either. The pricing is just not worth what little they offer over the previous models.

I have to agree. Yesterday I was watching the keynote and my excitement was high but today not so much. I was watching Tailosive tech video earlier about how the iPhone 11 is $599 and the unlocked iPhone 12 starts at $829 and after thinking about it I’m not sure the iPhone 12 is the better buy. That’s just me though. I’m really rethinking purchasing the iPhone 12 now.

Totally understand some of the sentiments voiced in this thread. Ive been upgrading every year since iPhone 4 but this year im sitting this one out. Not because of the monetary reasons or that thrill is not there any more purely because im happy with my 11 pro.

You’re beyond salty about a phone not even made for those with an 11 and quoted me about nonsense when I said most people don’t have the money for ANY high end smart phone nor the money for basic emergency expenses. Go stay in your lane and don’t come to mine with the bs.

I am still thrilled with my old stuff, especially given it's got a lot of features that are gone today, so what's the point of paying more for less than what I got now? (headphone jack, removable battery, SD card, IR blaster, sliding keyboard, a UI design I can stand looking at, etc)

Lately I've been buying downgrades. Old Samsung tablets and phones, most of which I was stupid enough to sell when they were a year old before. I've never been happier to unbox anything until then. Today's phones are too big, the UI is too flat, and there's less features that really don't justify the increase in price. For $50 I got a Galaxy SIII, which has more features than an iPhone 11 Pro.

There's just nothing out there that wows me anymore. It's just more of the same with less and less features. Ever since iOS 7 (and likewise, Android 5 Lollipop) I have simply lost interest.

I wouldn’t mind one. I’m eight months into a two year contract, so I’ll be in line for the next phone after the 12. Or I could wait 6 months after that and get the one after that. I don’t mind watching you guys fight, because my next phone should be a pretty decent upgrade coming from my XS Max, which was a kick ass upgrade from my 7.

I don’t understand what’s disrespectful about asking a question?
I’m just not thrilled about the new phone and i don’t care about what usual little it offers over the previous ones. Yet the price keeps going up.
I can only speak for myself here. I am a single person, not a partier, don’t go to the movies or eat out much, and my child is long since grown and gone. My iPhone and iPad are are the main luxuries I allow myself. I still have my XS Max, so I haven’t upgraded in 2 years. What other folks spend going out to eat and a movie once a week more than covers my phone payment.

I think a lot of people are like me, in that they enjoy their tech and shouldn’t be criticized because of it. When people make fun of me because I’m an older girl spending money on the latest iPhone, I “nicely” tell them that when they start paying my bills, then they can tell me how I should spend my money. I work for every penny I get and I am my sole support.

I’m not all that worried about the camera, but I still want the new iPhone Pro Max. My point is, no one should be criticized because they want to spend their money on a new piece of tech, and no one should be criticized because they don’t.

The Good Witch has a point.

I feel you OP. Also, who needs the best cameras when we're spending more time at home this year. Probably next year too. Who knows.
I don't know about you, but I still go outside and take photos. As do billions of other people. Remember the world isn't US-centric.

So for whom it’s made for.? Fanboys? $11000 top of the line? (Oh wait it’s more expensive) So they can satisfy their ego that they have the latest and greatest. SHM
Most people aren't upgrading from last year's phone. Most people are upgrading from much older phones because people tend to hang on to them for multiple years now. Personally I'm coming from an iPhone X. A 12 Pro nets me three generations of upgrades that I haven't experienced yet. That's a pretty big upgrade coming from what I have currently.

After waiting 3+ years the hardware is somewhat disappointing. Going back to flat sides not exactly exciting
Better camera was already anticipated
But this year we’ll have to cut Apple some slack. Truth is we’re lucky to get new iPhones with the pandemic going on

I will be coming from a iPhone 6S+. I use to care about the latest phones every year but now I am keeping my phone longer given how expensive they can get. After 5 years I am ready for the iPhone 12 upgrade. Really looking forward to the camera and low light picture taking.

So there are some new iPhones out. Who cares, really? I don't know whether it's the year (pandemic). Perhaps this year has made me realize that phones aren't a very important thing in life, especially when the phone I have is more than sufficient. Spend another $1,000 on something that really doesn't matter, adds no meaning to life, will be a temporary "wow" and nothing more? Nah.

Am I alone? These new phones don't excite me. Beyond that, they're downright boring. There are just more important things to lust after--like normalcy.

You've lost that lovin' feeling. I get it. I go through it at times, but it always returns.
